Same thing my dude, I dropped physics. I think I have adhd. But I am pursuing a career in data science and managed to find a job in analytics before finishing the degree. Perhaps one day I’ll come back for physics but it doesn’t actually matters. As long as you can live your life at its fullest it doesn’t matter if you study in your teens or in your elder years. Enjoy the journey my friend.

I’m an employed ADHD engineer with mech BS and aero MS degrees and working dissertation part time. The absolute worst part of academics and professional engineering is status reporting. Professors and management want nearly constant updates and expect incremental progress from moment to moment. I get it that they typically have no idea what is going on scientifically and they have to watch the money burn down at the proper rate, but most of the time, when you’re working some really intricate stuff, you have to go to the whiteboard and just muse on the task for hours, days, maybe weeks. That routine is just so anti-ADHD and stifling to an otherwise brilliant person.
I don’t know if I can relate to anything more than I relate to jesse, I’ve always had trouble paying attention to things like school and work (before I started auto maintenance) I’ve always found peace in tearing things down and putting them back together, as well as building things like model kits, and building up project cars.

I dont have any diagnosed ADD or anything of the sort, but with all the things that stress me out and how difficult it feels to keep going day to day, there's something about researching and learning about engines and cars that has brought tranquility to my life since middle school
Speak with your parents about official diagnosis, if confirmed, further medication and counsueling will help you avoid major obstacles in the future education and career. I didn't had this luxury, and had to repeat my last class in highschool and dropped out of college as freshmen, mainly because of that shit.

From experience, I can’t remember the last period of time where I wasn’t wrenching on something. And as passionate as that is, opening up my own shop almost cost me every bit of that joy. Some hobbies are better left as hobbies. Some hobbies can be a lucrative source of income. I want that balance to be understood by as many people as possible because losing a passion in the pursuit of money feels like selling your soul to the devil when you lay down at night after 18 hour days.

this was the first time i ever related to someone as a kid, or started to have any idea what could really be wrong with me. i remember sitting in my closet watching my new favorite movie and ive never forgotten this scene. sucks they shot him, he would have made a really good character later on in the series!!
While I was never big fan of this film, I really appreciate how the writers slipped in character with ADHD, showing his real honest struggles. Knowing the movie was mostly aimed at teenagers, I bet it brought more awareness to the cause than numerous campaign ads with patronizing "hidden superpower" pat on the back bullshit.

Jesse was most likely based on person with similar personality. Movie characters usually doesn't provide enough depth to be considered good study materials for writers, especially competent ones, who are able to write decent stuff like BB.
For other ADD or ADHD havers use this scene or the race when he made that in thought out impulsive decision to bet his dad’s car for people who try to down play the mental gift with no idea how horrid can be if it’s off the spectrum or it’s a severe case.
