One of the great things about the military was cheap beer. I can remember 24 pack suitcases of Milwaukee's Best for $7 or $8. Spoiler alert: Milwaukee's Best is anything but the best.

211... the malty mistress that got me through many tough times. Granted, the tough times were because of drinking Steel Reserve, but hindsight is 20/20. I'm so glad I've moved on from 211 and now able to appreciate the finer things. #fourlocosforlife

Funny story. When i had my first place we all drank alot of beer. Cheap beer. We would leave it on the porch in the winter instead of the fridge. Steel reserve was the only one that never froze.

My roommates called me "Steely Dan" whenever I walked around the house carrying one of these lol
lmao. In the Army on base I would walk down to the liquor store, pick up a big 40oz Steel Reserve then walk across the parking lot to the pizza place and order 20 wings. I'd sit on the outside dining area and get trashed while eating wings, then call a cab to take me back to base. 😂🤣

First beer I had, my younger sisters managed to get a hold of a four pack, back when I was 15. I caught them before they could get into it, and chugged all four in quick succession, to teach them a lesson. Only time I've ever completely blacked out, to this day I cannot remember anything I did, but I woke up in the bathtub, covered in vomit, and had apparently destroyed the entire bathroom save the toilet, the door was bashed to pieces, broken mirror glass everywhere, sink smashed too, somehow I had the foresight to turn off the water before I smashed it, and my father, who was much larger than me and regularly beat my ass, had a black eye and a busted lip and told me that he'd never been scared of anyone, never lost a fight either, until that night when he tried to corral me into the bathroom. That hangover was the second worst of my life, the first being a time I went shot for shot of Fireball with a tiny girl, and had finished the bottle before the hour was up, and that's a whole other story.

I think Steel Reserve's appeal is fourfold: its low price, its percentage (8.1% where allowed), its flavor being less foul than that of most of its cheap tallboy/40 competitors (tastes like a frat boy's ice beer rather than the restaurant-dumpster-liquid whiff I've gotten the few times I've given Natty Daddy another go, say), and those wicked sweet ads the Ramones recorded in the mid-'90s.

Just drink cheap box wine. I'd get sober if all I could drink were 211. Sobriety is more attractive than 211. That's how bad 211 is. I'd rather deal with my problems than drink a 211.

On our last night before leaving the US our Peace Corps group went to the nearest liquor store with out prepaid debit cards and went on a spending spree. Instead of buying top shelf stuff, I got TWO cans of Steel Reserve. 18 years later some people still call me Steel. Good times.

When I was in High School, a buddy and myself each drank a 211 then went to school. I went in drunk, 30 minutes later I'm being handcuffed and getting charged as a terrorist.
Drank 3 40oz bottles one night. Lets just say I had a visit with the porcelain God, praying if he made me feel better I would never drink again.

When I was finishing high school, there was this one bodega that never attempted to card me if I used cash. I used to buy Steel Reserve since it was best "bang for your buck" that they had in stock. So I drank it regularly.

DUUUUDE this was my shit when I was still drinking; it got me through my 20s and early 30s lol I used to donate plasma and live off of 35 bucks a day and replace my missing fluids with 211 brown party liquor, then I'd be living the high life for about 3 months or so when I'd find a chick to take care of me... Then she'd catch on and. Realize I'm broke as a joke and just drifting through life aimlessly and bail.. then I'd be flat on my ass again trying to find another one; good times!

I used to drink steel reserve before I got my ID lol. Changing the bottles to plastic was the lamest thing they've ever done. Like way to make a shitty malt liquor taste even shittier. I did have a lot of fun working on the 40 and playing Gamecube games into the AM though

I started my alcoholic journey drinking this battery acid in a can. Nowadays if I want to get drunk, I drink only stuff I enjoy and pair it with something savory or sweet to eat plus a good movie or series. I can't believe I drank these AND WARM when I was 21, it just shows the lack of self-respect I had.

We drank these a lot in high school because we had a friend who could grow a full beard and pass as a 21+ year old who would go to a rural gas station that never carded him where they sold these CHEAP by the case. You want to talk about 16-18 year olds getting absolutely ripped just about every Friday and Saturday night, Steel Reserve got us there.
I understand the idea of spitting it out due to the nuances of professional tasting, but I was almost dissapointed... nay... I felt left out... but like I was feeling it for the beer. To my great relief my mans drank the rest of it at the end. Kudos, good sir. I tip my 211 to you and have one with you.
