I have my great uncle’s signal mirror that was used in combat in Italy in WW2. He navigated minefields at night time to recon enemy positions, with nothing but a bayonet to probe for mines. He spent 24 hours doing this and brought back valuable intel. He was awarded the bronze star for this.

Made me laugh when you said "flashlight is for lighting dark areas" lol. Love your videos man. You might wanna consider keeping a 1 gallon zip lock freezer bag folded up with your meds and iodine. It weighs nothing, and can be used as an emergency water container for use with purifying tablets if you ever get separated from your canteen or your water bladder gets damaged. Just a thought. I carry one in my woods survival kit when backpacking.

Love the videos. It's great to finally have weapon/survival oriented videos that aren't either a delusional prepper or a 'roid monster screeching about themselves. You just kind of hold up the thing you want to talk about, and then talk about it. The style of talking in front of a black background is great, again it's so much better than other videos like this that are either filmed in somebody's closet or out in a windy field where the wind drowns out the mic. 10/10 production values and style.
Oh, and good info stuff too.

Chest rigs are often overlooked over plate carriers but they are great option because they are lightweight and breathable. Most people forget that with chest rigs are comfortable with backpacks and lightweight so I can go on a long camping trip with daddy with all of my skittles and Hi-Cs in my pack. Also they are way more compact so my mom won`t get angry at me for wanting to take too much gear to the airsoft game.

Former SAS here, I would actually advise carrying fresnel lenses for firestarting and other uses they are light (about the weight of a piece of paper) small and capable of reaching temperatures that melt rocks and steel (yes it will burn through padded locks and cable if needed)...it is essentially a magnifying lense on steroids...just make sure you keep it wrapped up when not using it because it can burn a hole clean through your skin and bones in a matter of seconds. It's also good for cooking if you know how to use it right...(basically flash over the meal quickly never letting it sit too long in one spot)
Best part is these things work even with cloudy overcast weather. And cost nearly nothing.

another good video.Although like i mentioned in another of your video's i'm a total greeny, and was in the Navy long ago strait out of high school and back then we only had to qualify with a .22 lol When i got out in 1983 i never touched a firearm again until about 2yrs ago and just purchased 4firearms in the past 2yrs.I have a 38special(Taurus82+P) for home defense/target training mainly. As my wife and daughter dont want anything to do with guns,In case im not here if something happens there is no mistakes by someone that has never touched a firearm befor, not knowing if theres one left in the chamber. They at least know that theres 6 shots then its empty.I have my AR-5.56/223 and then a 12Guage pump and a 6.5creedmoor(savage axis) which i regret befor even shooting it yet(just brought it home literally a few hours ago) because the rounds are NOT very common and are very costly, although knew that befor purchasing it.(feeling i should have just went with a 223 deer/long range rifle.(your opinion please?)I was wondering what the item that you mentioned was on your chest that you at times place on your wrist was?I know this may seem like a stupid question but i never had to know what this type of thing was during my brief stay in the Navy?I do know (this may sound dumb) a good bit about survival from the BSA lol but learned more from guys like you online and thank you for your video's they are very informative. So just to let you know that im green and at 53yrs old am in good enough shape that as long as im not running full steam i can travel on foot quite a distance. lol hoping to learn enough befor i get too old to bug out that if i ever have too can keep my family alive and safe! thanks again!

To clarify, do they hang up on reinsertion or drawing the mags as well? Im stacked deep on pmags so being able to use them is critical. Reinsertion is not a critical as drawing them for me.

And that sure screws up using the hip belt on my pack when hiking. You have a lot of items for survival in your chest rig, but what about water? Great video, many solid talking points. The problem I always run into is when I dawn my body armor, and chest rig, which both are low pro setup; my ruck normally has to be a military issue in order to find that sweet spot durning long humps. I find normally a framed ruck, with the wide extra long straps you typically get with said military rucks fills that void. Again, my armor and chest rig do fall into the low profile category, but with that being said...I still tend to find my shoulder area to be a bit of a bottle neck with all the webbing that gets bunched up there. Topically I'm talking long range patrol for seven to ten days, extra ammunition, water, and even when your rations are dehydrated you are talking fifty/sixty pounds in all.
I guess my question too you is, what is your experience with this? I don't believe or can remember watching one video on TH-cam that address all three items to be worn at the same time in one video. It's either chest rigs w/armor or chest rigs w/ruck sack; I have to guess a video covering all three would not be sexy at all. More like taking a drunk, two pack a day, forty something year old chick to your high school prom.
My time in the Army, we just sucked it up and dealt with it, but I see many folks out there who have not seriously looked at this. I totally get what you are saying when you stress to your viewers...train with their gear, it's a must if you want to be successful at the end of the day! Really enjoy your videos, a nice mix of informational and dry humor, perfect.

You should try our system. "Fusion System Marom Dolphin."
I carried my packs like you show in this video for many years. Fusion System is the answer to numb shoulders and lower back pain.

I know this is a very old video, but just curious. While working in a NPE, would you be wearing body armor with this set up? Curious how well that integrates? Do you wear a super low profile carrier? Do you wear just a front plate at that point so the back plate doesn’t hurt your back when the pack is on it. I have never found a comfortable way to run a ruck with a carrier. I love the chest rig, just curious about personal protection with the gear. Also do you ever leave room in your rucks for NOD’s or do you just keep them on the helmet and stow them all together?

you should still wear a soft armor vest under a chest rig in order to protect against shrapnel and maybe stop long range 7.62x39 bullets

I know this is a old video. I just found it and wondeted how you fit and attached your knife. I know Esee knives come with a molle attachment capability, but I don't see any molle. I think you said there is none on that rig. Thank you for the tips. Alwsys appreciated.

Hey Garand Thumb, whats your solution for wearing a war belt + a 3-day pack when it comes to the pelvic restraint? I mean, will you put off your war belt for the time wearing your pack or will you resign having the weight shared to your hips?

If concealment isnt an issue what do you think about green lasers for signaling? Not that id ditch the mirror.. They don't take _too_ much space up and they are really effective at night!
