One of the most badass bosses ever and by and far my favorite boss fight in any video game he nearly killed me with his sheer awesomeness alone yes indeed Kalameet will definitely go in video game history as one of the best.
I can't help but ponder the horrifying possibilities for boss fights if the next Souls title (if there ever is one) incorporated the grappling move from Dragon's Dogma and Shadow of the Colossus. For some reason I'm picturing a player clinging madly to Kalameet's back as he flies into the air and tries to knock them off.
Thenextworldwar I think they're focusing on Bloodborne now, so we shouldn't hold our breath on a Dark Souls 3 or Demon's Souls 2 (despite the fact that a Demon's Souls 2 would probably be the hot IP for the PS4).
By the way, does anybody else get a Walking With Dinosaurs kind of vibe by the music and how Kalameet swaggers toward you during the proper boss fight?
Today, when I went through DkSII's DLC, I fought Sinh the Slumbering Dragon and thought he was all too similar to Kalameet in design, except for that white skin and toxic fireballs. I actually mistook him for Kalameet due to the large spear stick out of his back (almost looked like a reference to Gough's Great Arrow). Still, Sinh was an epic fight. Haven't enjoyed DkSII in a while before getting into the DLC.
cronos21619 Cutting his tail is actually A LOT harder on NG+. I'm not sure if I'm warning you on time llol. I followed this video and sure, it took a while, but the rush I got when the flipping tail came off... EPIC.
But once you've lost everything, your innocence, your hope, your will to go on, you'll lose one more thing: Your fear. Dark Souls throws you into a fire and burns out all your weaknesses, and what comes out is stronger.
Classic!! I use to fight this boss over and over just for the music. Get a little tipsy, turn the volume up and it’s on. Great game, great boss, great music.
I just realized it took me like 4 hours with a friend as an experienced player on the first NG rotation on a gimped charcter to kill a crippled dragon.
+MaddiPlaysGames Oh he isn't hard if you are just killing him with magic. Getting that tail cut on the other hand is kinda tedious. Gotta bait out that one rushing attack and hope he does the tail slam after. Melee killing him is even worse because his worst attacks are when you are near him.
Next person to say Alduin is stronger needs a backhand to the face. He can eat souls you say? You mean just like every being in Dark Souls can (except humans)? Do you think those souls you get for defeating a foe just come out of thin air or something? Kalameet frightened the Gods who formed the world of Dark Souls...even mere drakes from the Souls series outclass Skyrim dragons, much less the real dragons of the series. Alduin may have been made by a God, but he didn't scare them...not to mention the people he preyed on were a bunch of average mortals.
"Alduin didn't scare them." Uh...yeah..thats why the entire time you see people running around in fear from normal dragons, including the beginning where Alduin conjures up a giant fucking meteor storm? What? Dude, the Gods in Elder Scrolls are actual gods. They exist in their universe and actually have divine abilities like Omnipotence and Omniscience. NONE of the Anor Londo Gods had any of these traits. They didn't have near unstoppable might(as Gwyn would have lost against the dragons had he fought on his own), and they SURE as hell couldn't shape the will of the UNIVERSE by merely existing. Sithis, possibly the strongest being in Elder Scrolls, could probably just EXIST in the Dark Souls series and immediately absorb the universe back into himself. Gods in Dark Souls are just incredibly powerful beings with powerful souls. Gods in Elder Scrolls are unkillable, untouchable, unstoppable beings whose powers are so great they shape existence itself. Look at Akatosh...he has a thing called "dragon breaks"...As in, TIME BREAKS. Meaning, that time ITSELF(or, the actual space-time continuum) was broken causing multiple events to occur at once(the events of Elder Scrolls II). Also, Alduin isn't a god. Try to read up on the lore instead of blatantly saying shit that is automatically obvious to people who have PLAYED Skyrim. Alduin is simply referred to in ancient Nordic beliefs AS a God, but in reality is simply a title given to him because he caused so much death and destruction that he came off as an evil God. I'm not sorry for the Rant, because I just can't stand the misguided, uninformed opinions of Souls fans without even trying to learn the tiniest bit of the Elder Scrolls lore.
I have been playing The Elder Scrolls since 1997, and I always read all available lore. As for my information, I didn't say alduin didn't scare people or that he was a God (I said he was MADE by a god, being firstborn of Akatosh), I implied he clearly didn't intimidate GODS. I know the lore, kid, and have played EVERY game in the series. But when one is clearly better than the other (meaning Kalameet over Alduin, not Souls over TES or vice versa) I will always call one or the other out on it. Calling me uninformed and misguided when you clearly didn't even read my comment correctly is blatant and downright fooish hypocrisy.
Gwyn wasnt a god. As far as we know the only true god DS1 had was velka(screw ds2 name engeaved ring gods, those were only names on a ring while velka acually did something in ds1 story). And velka didnt give any shits about kalameet. He was the only everlasting dragon who didnt hide from nito, the witches, gwyn and seath because he was so powerfull that the lords couldnt slay him. But the chosen undead could, and the chosen undead was velkas "creation".
Lore-wise Alduin is stronger. Gameplay wise Kalameet would crush Alduin. I'd like to see Kalameet vs Ancalagon the Black though. That would be interesting.
This is quite possibly the most tenacious character in all of Dark Souls. His wing membrane gets ripped apart, he plummets like 50 feet into the ground, loses the ability to fly high yet he still charges you and puts up the hardest fight of any boss I've ever seen. Good on you, Kalameet
This fight took me awhile, because cutting off the tail was difficult. But I found out the trick and once I got the maneuvering right, it was easy. When he does his charge in the air, dodge just out of the way. Then, quickly dodge back under the tail when he passes. This will bait out his tail slam. Dodge back out of the way of the slam and you you’re free to get a hit or two in on his tail. Obsidian Greatsword is probably the coolest weapon in the game and was very worth it.
I thought I was gonna have to endure frustration during this fight, given that dragon fights have a bad reputation of crazy camera angles, wonky hitboxes and insane damage (Midir and to a lesser extent Sinh) but he was actually pretty fun and he is my 2nd favorite ds1 boss behind artorias.
Kalameet shared a lot of the tactics you'd find in Monster Hunter which made is such a nostalgic fight for me... being a hardcore Monster Hunter player in the past, it let me utilise a lot of those skills I've learned over the years... was amazing. I'd definitely say Manus was one of my favourites though, he's one of the only bosses who actually has a differential in his attacks once he reaches 50% health. I hope there's a lot more in Dark Souls 2! Keeps the fight fresh throughout, even though Dark Souls doesn't really need it most of the time.
Ah yes, the DLC was quite good, Artorias was my favorite battle, and they introduced even more lore in which was enlightening, tragic, fresh, and captivating. By far one of the best expansions I've ever played, and by far one of the best games I've had the privilege of playing.
That part also gave me the goosebumps too. It gave me the feeling that this song just became a divine cacophony... like there's something so messed up that even the angels have to start singing off key to point it out.
Personally, i think Kalameet is the coolest freaking boss ever, with an awesome soundtrack to match. But let's be honest, this picture must be upside as it's clearly Tarkus growing to the size of Kalameet, grabbing by the head with one hand, and getting ready to slam him into the ground.
Yes indeed. One has to admire how much this beast holds on to dear life in it's final moments. It's like someone challenges you to a fight, but only AFTER breaking an arm. Wouldn't appreciate that either.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite would like to have a talk. Seriously, Kalameet is definitely hard and the boss I spend most attempts on in all Souls games (first time in NG+), but mostly for the tail. I gave up somewhere along the LV★★★★★★★★ dragons or so
I wander if this is a homage to Tolkien? Kalameet bringer of Calamity. "Smaug the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities". Also the one lidless eye, just like the great eye of Sauron.
Shalashaska Which is why I said "wander" (which should have been wonder) instead of it is. However I was reading Tolkien at the time and Hidetaka Miyazaki said he was inspired by western fantasy tales, a famous western tale being Tolkiens Middle Earth Fantasies. A lot of the writing and descriptions in the game for Mr Kalameet seemed to coincide. Thus it led to my pondering.
In any other RPG, a dragon named after the word Calamity that is feared by even the gods would be the main villain and final boss. In Dark Souls, Kalameet is a SIDE BOSS in an OPTIONAL DLC. These games man.
Anybody notice that the music is similar to the one from the prologue when it describes Gwyn and the lords slaying the dragons? Almost implying that your deeds against Kalameet are parallels of the war between the lords and dragons, the last lord against the last dragon...how...fitting.
This theme is even more awesome because it took a part of the music from dark souls intro video (you know, the one with ancient dragons and the gods attacking them) andmade it even more epic.
That would work, except that Dark Souls is one gigantic trap card that you keep activating over and over and everything you hold dear in your heart gets sent straight to the graveyard.

git gud filthy casul
Him and sinh are on my dead pile of ds bosses. Moments like downing kalameet and manus that make you feel omnipotent
The sword you get form him is unbelievably powerful when used right.
My nemesis.
One of the greatest boss fights of all time
Thank god he is an optional boss...
Trank god he is an awesome and fun to fight boss!
It is a greater challenge to cut his tail. THAT is the true superboss of dark souls.
zachary seiders not really, you can bait his flying spear attack, roll to his side and then under his tail after he lands to bait the tail slam
IF he does the attack. Least the obsidian greatsword is NOT mandatory towards cheevo.
One of the best optional bosses in the series
Fr the ending kinda slaps hard
I beat this boss on ng+ with a busted controller. Took years off my life.
Try beating Artorias, Manus &, Kalameet in one life. I did this by accident years ago.
@@edwardconner3335you are a maniac, and deserve high accolades for such an accomplishment. I struggled more with Kalameet than I ever did with Artorias and Manus, I really do not know why
This is the theme for „you aren’t good enough to get my tail cut off“
Why can't I hold all these Obsidian Greatswords?
..I..
Not enough strenght mate
Because this is a dream. You never had one to begin with.
That moment when you can't even get to the boss fight let alone fight it.
Mitch Dickeson Scratch that. Did it. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
One of the most badass bosses ever and by and far my favorite boss fight in any video game he nearly killed me with his sheer awesomeness alone yes indeed Kalameet will definitely go in video game history as one of the best.
Midir says hi
@@user-ip3fs9sc5b Kalameet doesn’t care.
Midir and Kalameet are the best dragons in souls games
Listening to this and remembering the boss fight sends chills down my spine. Just so great and satisfying
I'd only want a Dark Souls 3 if they return to the rolling mechanics of the original Dark Souls.
Thenextworldwar
I think they're focusing on Bloodborne now, so we shouldn't hold our breath on a Dark Souls 3 or Demon's Souls 2 (despite the fact that a Demon's Souls 2 would probably be the hot IP for the PS4).
By the way, does anybody else get a Walking With Dinosaurs kind of vibe by the music and how Kalameet swaggers toward you during the proper boss fight?
lol Nameless King
Hey I'm for th future and they made dark souls 3
Kalameet would PWN Alduin anyday. Kalameet eats meteors for breakfast.
This is the moment i became a villain
This dude along with Ornstein & Smough are the most fun bosses to fight in the entire game!
Cutting of his tail is just so frustratingly hard
Kusiruukku fuck the tail, killing him is already enough chalenge for me xd
cronos21619 Yeah sure... fuck obsidian greatsword...
well, we can always try it in NG+ who knows, maybe a miracle can happen and we manage to cut the tail after all
cronos21619 Cutting his tail is actually A LOT harder on NG+. I'm not sure if I'm warning you on time llol.
I followed this video and sure, it took a while, but the rush I got when the flipping tail came off...
EPIC.
ok, to late, no problem I like chalenges

Why is it that this part of the theme gets me the most pumped up?
This song more than describes a fight with a dragon. It describes you getting erased from existence as a result of going toe to toe with a dragon.
There's a bit of the dragon trill from the intro cinematic. Love it.
This fight and music really had my blood pumping, kind of made me wish there were finishing blow animations for the special bosses.
I just realized it took me like 4 hours with a friend as an experienced player on the first NG rotation on a gimped charcter to kill a crippled dragon.
"Kalameet isn't hard lel"
(used dark bead to blast kalameet to the abyss)
+MaddiPlaysGames Oh he isn't hard if you are just killing him with magic. Getting that tail cut on the other hand is kinda tedious. Gotta bait out that one rushing attack and hope he does the tail slam after. Melee killing him is even worse because his worst attacks are when you are near him.
Every boss take one bead shot kalameet took 6 wtf
dark bead SORCERY PRANK GONE SEXUAL ACCIDENTALLY MADE HEXES
The first part feels like Ivory king theme
Next person to say Alduin is stronger needs a backhand to the face. He can eat souls you say? You mean just like every being in Dark Souls can (except humans)? Do you think those souls you get for defeating a foe just come out of thin air or something? Kalameet frightened the Gods who formed the world of Dark Souls...even mere drakes from the Souls series outclass Skyrim dragons, much less the real dragons of the series. Alduin may have been made by a God, but he didn't scare them...not to mention the people he preyed on were a bunch of average mortals.
You know when the gods fear a certain creature that he outclasses most other video game dragons.
The first 25 seconds of this is among some of the best pieces of music ever written for a video game
The real challenge is cutting off the tail
@@danielbumchuckle4321 Oh, I didn't try that but I might do it in a future playthrough.
midir doesn't have wonky hitboxes wym?
Kalameet shared a lot of the tactics you'd find in Monster Hunter which made is such a nostalgic fight for me... being a hardcore Monster Hunter player in the past, it let me utilise a lot of those skills I've learned over the years... was amazing. I'd definitely say Manus was one of my favourites though, he's one of the only bosses who actually has a differential in his attacks once he reaches 50% health. I hope there's a lot more in Dark Souls 2! Keeps the fight fresh throughout, even though Dark Souls doesn't really need it most of the time.
Smaug: I am king of this Kingdom!
Alduin: Nay! I am king here!
Kalameet:. *lands*
Alduin and Smaug: crumbs
Midir: *lands*
Smaug, Alduin and Kalameet: *collectively shit their pants*
*kalameet's grab*
What is he doin-
*MY EARS!!!*
The DLC was made for guys like me,the melee class warriors!!
You only will have true batles by be one melee guy,im telling you!
The beginning of this song kinda reminds that you are fighting something big and ancient. Fitting.
Getting his tail took my about 2 hours then i got it and destroyed him with my claymore
0:54 is where the badassery really kicks off
"Time to kala-meet your maker!"
......I despise thee.
This is the biggest "you are fucked" opening to a boss theme I have ever seen
I remember this fight being terrifying during my first walk-trough. And this track perfectly represents the fight with the one-eyed Black dragon.
Im addicted to this theme, im listening it in a loop. 3rd day. Without break...
The first time I saw this picure I thought it was some kind of wicked demon with horns, and I thought the space over Kalameet's eye was a mouth.
God I wish they got the same composer for 3, 3's music is nice, but this guys compositions were so bombastic and all sounded to individual.
Yes indeed. One has to admire how much this beast holds on to dear life in it's final moments. It's like someone challenges you to a fight, but only AFTER breaking an arm. Wouldn't appreciate that either.
hardest dragon in game history!
ever faught against the ur-dragon? :D
Fritz Bittelböck Oh god, I have yet to beat the Ur-Dragon.
The Fusion Dragon is pretty annoying in Golden Sun 1. Firstly, you have to beat Saturos and Menardi, and THEN right after, the Fusion Dragon.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite would like to have a talk.
Seriously, Kalameet is definitely hard and the boss I spend most attempts on in all Souls games (first time in NG+), but mostly for the tail.
I gave up somewhere along the LV★★★★★★★★ dragons or so
incredibly tough fight, but so fun and rewarding at the same time
The dragon Gwyn couldn't control
I always turn the music volume higher than the other volumes for this guy. WHAT A THEME.
I wander if this is a homage to Tolkien? Kalameet bringer of Calamity. "Smaug the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities". Also the one lidless eye, just like the great eye of Sauron.
Maybe.
Man, you are stretching it
Shalashaska Which is why I said "wander" (which should have been wonder) instead of it is.
Well it could be, Smaug was indeed called a Calamity, it has the black from Ancalagon, Glaurung had some mind powers too, and the eye of Sauron
In any other RPG, a dragon named after the word Calamity that is feared by even the gods would be the main villain and final boss.
In Dark Souls, Kalameet is a SIDE BOSS in an OPTIONAL DLC. These games man.
does anybody else think Tarkus is epically photobombing right now
serisdovakhin and kalameet kicked his ass for it
Anybody notice that the music is similar to the one from the prologue when it describes Gwyn and the lords slaying the dragons? Almost implying that your deeds against Kalameet are parallels of the war between the lords and dragons, the last lord against the last dragon...how...fitting.
funny I just killed him in tarkus build, like the picture haha
This theme is even more awesome because it took a part of the music from dark souls intro video (you know, the one with ancient dragons and the gods attacking them) andmade it even more epic.
This theme represents chaos and kalameety ;)
That would work, except that Dark Souls is one gigantic trap card that you keep activating over and over and everything you hold dear in your heart gets sent straight to the graveyard.
DS2 bosses could learn a thing or two by Kalameet
sir, you are my hero, searched those songs for quite some hours - and as i have to wait for the console dlc to arrive, those videos of yours are a great way to enjoy those epic themes - thanks!
