- Avatar the Last Airbender is famous for a lot of different reasons, near the top of that list is an outstanding finale. Making a good show is hard, finishing it strong is much harder. Finales are easy to mess up, but Avatar did a remarkable job, this video is a deep dive on that premise

at the end i got goosebumps when you were talking about sokka and his sacrifice trying to save toph, and I think that really speaks volumes about the show, just a reference to one moment alone is enough to make me feel. or idk maybe its just your calming voice
Might be one of my favorite moments in the show, it's just them, with nothing else, toph floating in the void, and sokka trying to save a friend, just holding on as long as they can
I’m actually crying…. I think the realization of why I loved this show so much and why it’s so special to me and countless others is such a beautiful, but overwhelming thing.
Thank you for putting this into perspective. I hope that we get more shows like this in the future, cause I think the world needs it.
"A collection of brackets closing all at once" I remember not watching this show for a long time cause one day my parents were watching the live action and I thought this was the most horrendous thing to ever be shown on our LG tv but after my aunts convinced 8 year old me that the show is nothing like the movie I decided to watch it, and let me tell you I have never put my Pbs kids on hold before but this show completely sucked me in I loved everything about it, I never finished a show feeling so complete before I was not left asking for more or seeking for it everything I needed was found within the week I watched it as I alternated between the show and my homework the week after finishing it I remember being in the shower thinking I was a waterbender cause of how the water was rolling off my body. My first rewatch of the show was when i was 12 I think and this was when my standards were a bit higher but my thoughts were still the same after 4 years. I rewatched a couple of shows but I never rewatched a show more than twice other than avatar, cause every time I rewatched it, it felt as if I was watching it for the first time again. I adore everything about this show and I don't think there will ever be a time where I do end up rewatching it again and get bored of any of the characters or stories the show has to offer. Because to me this show is perfect.
You've got to be one of those genuises that see a whole kaleidoscope of colours where the world sees just black and white. You're a gem, my dude. Keep it up!
Man- Yep got a little choked up there at the end too. Sokka's arc didn't hit me till years later either. I like the way you framed your essay. The bracket metaphor worked well. For the show and for yourself. Well done.
That really touched me... the moment he let's go what is not important...
... but so he can reach for what was
We are lucky we got Avatar
thanks for all the kind comments! Glad you enjoyed the videos
Also gotta appreciate sokka starting off as a misogynist, and finishing off relying on 2 females to execute his plan and trusting them fully, not as big as other elements in the finally, just a nice touch
This is beautifully written, and created. Well done. Please do more.
This is such a fantastic video, it's horrible it doesn't have more views. One of the best analyis of the finale. It's funny, I actually just finished watching the show last night with friends who had never seen it before. Part of me has this thing with Avatar where, a lot of the epic or emotional moments in my head feel more grand and powerful than when they're actually presented on screen. I think it's only because it's a short 20 minute episode (which is why I'm excited for the live action series, it has a chance to make these moments more impactful and longer), but you managed to do what makes this show special. It has these incredible moments, but it's still a kids show. However, where it flourishes is when people like you are able to break it down and explain the core of what the series is trying to say, THAT's why I think it's much larger than it actually may come across sometimes.
Your analysis of Sokka's arc particularly caught me off guard. I got pretty emotional when you described it because I haven't ever thought of it that way. The notion of him finding himself through sword mastery and giving it up for the people he loves is just incredible man.
Great video :))
Katara didn’t forgive the soldier.
Aang: “Forgiveness is the first step you have to take to begin healing.”
Katara: “But I didn't forgive him.
I'll never forgive him.”
She forgave Zuko
Avatar nailed the Sanderson close before the Sanderson close was a thing. Everything all ties in at the end in one epic battle that consummates all the arcs.
Really good video! Deserves more views! The concept of bracketing is an interesting one that explains why I enjoy certain shows more than others. I think it applies equally well to stories like fma brotherhood and even better call Saul. Closure makes stories feel better
Very very well said.
That's a great vid! I especially like how you edited those short scenes together at the end, tying them together.
I will add here that yes I cried at the end of this video too haha
good vid!
I think you and i would be best friends
