I wish I could afford Bokksu, but $50 USD a month is pretty steep...I wish they'd offer a half size and offer a shellfish/seafood free option. I'd be cool with 10-12 snacks for $25/mo, especially if there wasn't any squid, crab, etc.
JACKIE...you'll get a manual for anything online. So have a peek for the 'tamagotchi' so you can at least get some use out of it. If you so wish, that is lol!?! 🤷🏼♀️😂
Broke down laughing at the audacity of including a 25% discount code as the only item for a whole day! At least stick some of the cheap candy in there. Something. Calendars love pulling that stunt, and it always feels intentionally cruel lol
Yeah, that's major bs. Especially at the end of the calendar when you realize how ripped off you've been? I can tell you where to put that 25% off... 😈
@@nerdecrafter Not just that, some countries dont have any celebrations before christmas by now. For example, here in Brazil the only thing we have is "Finados", which happens tommorow, afterwards everything christmas related is fair and square. And thats not all, our christmas shops have been open since october since we dont celebrate thanksgiving or halloween.
The shipping is probably one of the more valuable parts of the whole thing. Yeah, shipping from Japan to NA is expensive but EMS does not mess around. One time I ordered a package from Japan on 12/21 and with EMS shipping it was at my house on 12/24! Trying to excuse the terrible value of the items in the calendar itself because of shipping costs is such an incredible cop out because Japanese post didn't drop the ball - Sugoi Mart did.
Would make more sense if they lowered the price of the calendar and just charged for shipping. But they probably know that high shipping costs are a big deterrent for purchasers, so instead they raised the price of the calendar to try to trick you into thinking you're getting a $250 value.
It’s also still quite silly for them to blame shipping because even if you count that shipping price and let’s say we forgo the VAT and customs Jackie had to pay, the value still doesn’t come up to the 150$ price point (it barely reaches 80$). Scam through and through.
I love how the company reached out to you to tell you they were taking a $24 hit on shipping…by your calculations that still put the value of the $250 box at $79!!! 🙃
The cheek of them tbh, a calendar full of pretty much pick and mix sweets is not worth that much. I think the majority of the cost is covering the advertising and the box art.
don't forget she also said she being liberal (generous) when she calculated so it probably at least a dollar or 2 lower and on the website is claims to be $200+ value when not even 1/3 of that what a joke
As a owner of a tomagachi myself I will tell u the instructions because I have the same type of tomagachi. Answer 1: the button on the left is to choose different things Answer 2: the button in the middle is to select games or to select what food to feed it Answer 3: the button to your right is the button to go out of anything, so like if your in a game u can press it and it will take u out of the game. You can also press it to out of the energy/where u feed it section. Answer 4: To play the first game (the one that u have to dodge the rockets) you need to press the button on the left to dodge it (problem is you can’t control/tell it where to go) Question time: what happens if it dies? My tomogachi died like last week but usually it comes back to life after some time after. (MAKE HER SEE THIS PLS)
Wow, that went downhill fast. I'm from Germany where advent calendars were invented, so this is personal to me. Over here, we celebrate and get our presents on Christmas Eve, December 24, so door 24 is supposed to be special! Instead, they picked what's easily the worst item of the entire disappointing calendar. Dear advent calendar producers: A discount code should never ever be the only surprise of the day, it just feels like a cheap way to push another order on you.
I was born and raised in Germany as well, and I know exactly what you mean. It was a big deal every year to pick out the perfect advent calendar, and even though all of mine had just a little piece of chocolate behind each door, it absolutely made my day!
Jackie is my go to comfort youtuber. Her channel is like a great big hug after a stressful day. Not to mention all the fellow fans are incredibly kind and supportive. This is one of my favorite communities on TH-cam.
I couldn't agree with you more. Moriah, Jazza, and Royalty Soaps are also my go-to. I love that they're all friends, too. Such a lovely community around them all.
I kid you not but Jackies vids make me so relaxed I often fall asleep during them lol. And I do not mean that in a bad way at all! Not sure what it is about them..
Ikr? Seriously, you've just spent way too much money for mostly dime store & dollar store items, and your big Christmas "surprise" is nothing but a coupon to go waste MORE money with this company?!? 🤔🤨 Brilliant marketing strategy... 😆🤣
Twisted Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game made by Disney. I've been into this fandom for ages and I'm surprised that they had it involved since it's not quite well known
maybe not in English speaking communities but for a long time it's been the 2nd most earning "idol" game with mostly male characters only second to ensemble stars so it's not really weird, they most likely didn't even choose it, they probably just grabbed whatever there was in the stores they went to (and since twstd is a popular game in Japan, of course merch is gonna be easily found in Japanese shops)
Oh no! It started out so well 😩 I think the novelty of Japanese treats and toys are worth it if you never go to Japan in person, but that is way too much to charge for the box. I would pay maybe $50 for the whole thing and be okay with that. I’ve seen this advertised everywhere and am glad I didn’t get too far into it. Thanks for taking one for the team, Jackie 🧂
When I think of the prices that I pay for the stuff here in Germany I feel like the price is ok...? Things need to be packaged and the company needs to make profit But I still feel like there should be more information about the items...
@@rokurosecake that's exactly it. if they had taken the time with each of the toy items and gave information about them it may have given more value. though probably not $200 worth.
@@nerdecrafter Thank you for this, I'm really struggling for Christmas with the recession in Canada, lol. I was thinking of getting the sugoi for my son as part of his gift.
I'm a huge Tamagotchi collector!! I also collect a bunch of other virtual pets too~ Editing now that I am at the end of the video: Unfortunately SugoiMart has always been a huge ripoff, at least from what I have seen and I have heard of from my Tamagotchi groups. I'm sorry this brought out so much salt, but thank you for revealing the truth for the rest of us because the box is SO CUTE. Them reaching out to say they're taking a "hit" making this really just speaks that they probably should not have bothered making one of these 😢
I've helped a few of my friends get stuff from Japan in the past including Tamagotchi and honestly it's more work but in the end just going on sites like Yahoo auction and others and using as shopping service is much cheaper and you get so much more stuff to choose from. I also made really good experiences in ebay with gaming related items from Japan and for a while even had a direct contact to a small private Japanese reseller because a friend of mine owns a used electronics store with a specialisation in retro gaming. That Japanese guy was so helpful but sadly stopped shipping worldwide due to the pandemic and even domestically.. Many of those stores like SugoiMarket just sell items for a ridiculous markeup
@@DieAlteistwiederda I feel like even JapanYouWant (my main source) is more affordable. I have yet to try directly going through yahoo auction, but I have some proxies saved for when I have the funds!
8:55 that's a bunny dressed up as a sakura mochi. for those who don't know what that is, sakura mochi is a very popular mochi in japan that smells like cherry blossoms!
Hey Jackie!! I am a tamagotchi lover and indeed that tamagotchi is an evangelion themed one from the NANO series!! Don’t worry since it is official, the nanos are pretty easy to figure out once you read the instructions but it’s a shame they didn’t include any :(, I hope this bad experience doesn’t make you back off from tamagotchis overall since they’re awesome virtual pets and very charming creatures :)
@@Userhandleidk in terms of tamagotchi prices, more or less! The nanos are a relatively cheap line of tamagotchis since they’re pretty basic, but what’s unique about them is that they are themed with different franchises like movies or shows and each has a little unique mechanic and their own sprites :) one of them is around 25€ on Amazon at the moment
@@Userhandleidk Kinda, they are about the same price as the classic 90's type ones they sell, but the nano line is specifically the one they use to tie in with other media; movies, anime, games, Disney/Pixar, the egg character, etc. People collect them. The expensive Tamagotchi lines these days are the Smart, and the Pix, those are in full colour and such. I think the Pix I got was like £50, the Tama Smart would be more expensive to import.
I bought one of these calendars out of curiosity, and one of my days was literally just a recipe written on paper completely in Japanese. I should have listened to your warning 😔
The best advent calendar I ever bought was a wet cat food advent calendar that was 50% off because it was a Christmas item and was a couple days after Christmas.
I've come to the realization than businesses tend to increase the price of things from other countries (especially Japan). I collect figures and have to ship them from Japan, but when I find the same figured in local stores the price is at minimum 3 times the price I would have paid, including shipping. And I've noticed this trend all over even before 2020.
I’m so happy I didn’t buy this. I almost did but the $150 price tag was outrageous for a brand with which I’m not familiar. Thank you for taking the hit on this one for us!
The way I got instantly invested when a twisted wonderland item showed up, its such a small fandom you don't expect it and when you see it, its exciting
Jackie, just to let you know, Spy X Family is a really great series! Heartwarming, adorable, and funny with something much more complex steeping in the background. It’s still pretty new but it’s quickly become one of my favorites!
At first i was like "holy frog, i need this" and then the whole thing spiraled out of control. Thank you for doing these. Not only is it helpful, you're exceedingly entertaining. ❤️
The kitty plushie is Neko Dango. Maybe in Japan they don't call them bean bags, but little dango! :D That jelly in the strawberry chocolate looked so great! I was watching your video because I'm about to do an Advent Calendar, albeit, not anime or Japan-related cut I don't know how to go about it. And wow, that's a major bummer one you unveiled! I subscribed because we're both geeks and Canadian! :D And that was a great video! I'm going to get extra lights to film close-ups, your strawberry chocolate one was PERFECT.

As soon as Jackie said “it’s advent calendar season!” I literally just shouted YEAAAAAAAHH ADVENT CALENDARS ARE BAAAACK. 💀 I luv this series and Christmas so 😬😅
*Grabby hands* At the figure you said you were keeping wrapped. That’s Yuta Okkotsu from Jujustu Kaisen! 0 is what actually got me into the series…and I loved Yuta. X;DDD Sorry for that, just wanted to say. I’m legit glad I watched this all the way through I actually had the Preorder screen up and shut it after watching. Glad I dodged that bullet. Thank you Jackie!! Love your videos!
Right? I was going, Jackie, your Mochi’s in the background!!! But I kinda had the same thought that she just hadn’t seen the movie or read the Manga yet. Which I also get, I started JJK and watched a few episodes. And while I enjoyed it I just didn’t fall in love with it… I live in a smaller town and our local theater the closest to an Anime movie we’d gotten in the past was Ponyo. My best friend and I actually drove 2 hours just to see one of the Academia movies. They’ve stepped up since the pandemic hit and we’ve gotten Mugan Train, JJK 0, and Super Hero locally. So when I saw JJK 0 was on I was I know enough to be dangerous, I’ll go see it. Little did I know it was a prequel and I hadn’t gotten far enough to know any of the characters. X;DDD Still loved it, and it got me interested enough to finish the series. Which I adore now… So I figured this was similar. X;DDD
Here in the UK it’s quite difficult and expensive to get even the cheapest and most common Japanese items, and as a result, pretty much anything and everything from there becomes a novelty. I feel like companies like this take complete advantage of that and hype up/overprice things that are cheap, everyday items in Japan. If you’re someone who has been to Japan or lives in a country with a lot of trade with Japan, it’s easy to know that it’s a rip off. But if not, you’re less likely to know the actual value and you can fall into the trap
omg my birthday day is the 11th and that was the hello kitty marshmallows! Super yummy and sanrio is my favorite thing lol. I really like the ones with strawberry centers you should totally try them if you like jelly-filled things
The gum from 13 is pretty common in US grocery stores. It usually costs around $2 for 10 of the little boxes, so if you are getting this from the US you aren't even getting something cheap you wouldn't normally be able to experience
@@Just1Nora I’ve seen them! but I also live in one of the big US cities. If there’s any store with international imports near you (any local Asian market, H Mart, Cost Plus World Market) you might be able to find em if you look hard enough.
@@SourRazberry Oh I'm not doubting that. I live in the suburbs outside of a large city, but it's still not one of the top 10 or probably even 25 largest...
I honestly had never seen that particular advent calendar until now. When I first saw it I was like "Yes! A Japanese themed advent calendar!" Then I was like "OK, I do not think I am going to buy this one after all." That is quite a sum of money to spend on so-so stuff. Honestly, based on what I have seen as far as the snack things go, if I want Japanese snacks, I will just get something from Bokksu.
OMG I was raging!! I knew Sugoi Mart (like Japan Crate) was on the cheap side for the content of their boxes but with something as hyped and pricey as this?! I'm so infuriated!!! I don't care how much shipping is! They have huge discount on stuff for getting them in bulk! At least put in fancier candies and more gachas/figurines! Unbelievable!
I died at the 25% off coupon then lost it again when they tried to justify it because of their shipping... that shouldn't effect the value of the products for the customers. Absolute madness
I got the exact same advent calendar. It came with the same stuff, same days. Only differences were a different figure from the same set, different flavors of candies ect. I got the coupon too. One thing I noticed on the website was the advent calendar pictured was different. There’s a blueish one and a green one. It’s got 2 big boxes as the end days and it’s only 25 days. I think they mixed up the advent calendar and 30 days of Japan. Normally advents are 25 days. I got the other and it was the same type of stuff. Many days with candy. The capsule toys were really hard to get out. It’s cheap stuff. I ordered a New Years lucky bag so hopefully better
Well, if you look at its belly, you can see flowy pink attachment And if u look up Japanese slug plush, it has the same flowy attachment. I also believe it’s bunny ears could be the antennas. But it could definitely be a bunny! But I think it’s one of those Kawaii slug plushies. Either way, it’s adorable.

I can't believe the company reached out to you (still basically admitting it was a rip-off because the cost of shipping would have never made up the $150 difference) and thought that would clear the air. One of the surprises was a freaking 25% off coupon! What the heck?!
Glad I'm not the only one who is excited and getting ready for Christmas since the November 1st! My country doesn't celebrate thanksgiving, so basically, after Halloween, the stores are instantly beginning to stock up their shelves with Christmas items!
@@SourRazberry oh God I hate that, hate it so much. I'm okay with them bringing Christmas decor out shortly after Halloween, bc a lot of people don't celebrate Thanksgiving as a holiday to decorate for. At the very least, don't have your storefront decorate for Xmas on October 19th
I believe that the cookies and cream KitKats are the type you are supposed to freeze. I do think they probably use a lot of Dagashi since foreigners probably don't know the price

Yes I spotted that "worth your trash" as well LOL I am yet to finish the video but I accidentally read some comments and I think it's accurate given the comments about the company hahaha
I had to go back and turn on subtitles just to make sure that I read that right. It might have been a Freudian slip, but strangely prophetic. Jackie, do you have some abilities we don't know about yet? 🤔🤨 By the way, my date is the 3rd, so I have the "honor" of being one of the few sweets that was sorta worthwhile.
Thank you, Jackie! I've been thinking about this calendar for a while but I was reluctant because their site prices seem a little too high for the items, and lo and behold you just proved me right

Still waiting for more news on the anime unfortunately because so far we haven't heard anything 🥲 A little fun fact, if you've read Black Butler then the art style should be pretty familiar as the characters are all designed by the same mangaka

I’m from Australia and we have quite a variety of advent calendars. You can get basic ones that just have a little chocolate in each day. Or ones that have stationary, actually from popular companies like Smiggle, but they’re expensive, about $80 if I remember correctly. Or you can get ones that are little wooden boxes in a little shelf(?) shaped as a Christmas tree, that you can put your own stuff in. You can even get Lego ones. In 2021 I got one that has little Harry Potter Legos in it, which is pretty cool because they actually go with the Lego sets you can buy. Going back to the ones with chocolate. You can get ones with Lindt chocolate (my favourite) or a Cadbury one that’s huge, and has the mini sized bars in it. Edit: my birthday is the 5th (not in December) so I guess I’m only work 10-30 cents…..
I was Fuji erasers. 😭 Glad you were honest about this. I got excited in the beginning and almost got one for me and my siblings (so that would have been $600). Would have been soooooo disappointed if I had paid that much for just cheap snacks when I can go to several asian markets in my state for way better quality snacks and food.
i love these kind of videos from you, mainly dude to the fact i can't have chocolate like traditionally most people do , so looking at ones with objects and stuff is a good fun!
Thank you for protecting us grains, Jackie! 💜 So sad this advent calendar turned out so scammy, the box itself looks so promising with that lovely detailed pastel theme. I myself bought the Pokémon TCG holiday calendar, we'll see if I get lucky with any of the boosters in it in December. 👀
To answer your question about the figurine at 6:15 He is a member of the KPOP group BTS. They put out little Tiny Tan shorts before with animated characters of themselves. They also have little characters with Line Friends called BT21 (they are mainly Animals there). Hope this helps a bit, Jackie. 💜

Honestly advent calendars haven’t been the best experience through the years. The one Christmas advent calendar that we got that I thought was totally worth the price and was adorable was actually sold at ALDIs and it was a gnome kit. The box was like a giant closet with drawers … and one who doesn’t like the elf on the shelf but wants something cute I would definitely keep an eye out for this advent calendar (I don’t remember the exact price since my MIL actually bought it but it was definitely under $30)
I got this "advent calendar" (which the company followed up with me and said it's actually a 'month of Japan' and NOT an advent calendar... because now they have a separate ADVENT calendar.. anyway) before watching this video and your experience was spot-on. I was expecting ~$150-200 worth of goods in it, because that's what the listing claimed. Opening the first few days was a good start and I was feeling good that the rest of the calendar would have in it. Then.. from day 4 onward it was pretty sad pickings. The gacha balls were a particular sticking point with me too -- I have small fingers and couldn't get them out of the little tray/hole for the life of me either. The things I got in my calendar were overall pretty similar with some differences (also got J-hope and had NO idea who it was haha). I got gum where you got little chocolates, instead of the little candy-balls in 3D triangle packaging I got condensed milk-balls, a demon-slayer figurine, a geisha face-mask... etc. This could have been an amazing calendar (advent or not) and I'm kinda disappointed. I'd happily pay $80-100 plus shipping, but it's not worth what they're charging right now; at least to me.
Our tradition for Christmas in California is we meet family and friends and all of us has to prepare some food or recipe and bring it to a family member's house.❄️☃️🌲
In the UK we also have advent calendars But most of the time it’s just chocolate for about 3 quid from Sainsbury’s - best ones are Cadbury 🤤 However lots of people still do it traditionally (like my grandparents) who just get a little picture in it :)

Can agree. Travelling friend sent over some items in a box via mail. It arrived overseas within the week if not days.
I love how the company reached out to you to tell you they were taking a $24 hit on shipping…by your calculations that still put the value of the $250 box at $79!!! 🙃
Right that 24$ doesn’t even get close and the fact that they reached out to her to say that the audacity 😅
The cheek of them tbh, a calendar full of pretty much pick and mix sweets is not worth that much. I think the majority of the cost is covering the advertising and the box art.
25- Spy Family
Lol I love how they actually thought that would change anything 🤣
don't forget she also said she being liberal (generous) when she calculated so it probably at least a dollar or 2 lower
and on the website is claims to be $200+ value when not even 1/3 of that what a joke

As a owner of a tomagachi myself I will tell u the instructions because I have the same type of tomagachi.
Answer 1: the button on the left is to choose different things
Answer 2: the button in the middle is to select games or to select what food to feed it
Answer 3: the button to your right is the button to go out of anything, so like if your in a game u can press it and it will take u out of the game. You can also press it to out of the energy/where u feed it section.
Answer 4: To play the first game (the one that u have to dodge the rockets) you need to press the button on the left to dodge it (problem is you can’t control/tell it where to go)

Twisted Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game made by Disney. I've been into this fandom for ages and I'm surprised that they had it involved since it's not quite well known
Popularity probably went up with the western release, not to mention theyll probably be pushing it more with the anime coming g out eventually
I almost choked on my French fries seeing that part, especially so early on in the box
I'd love to play it but it's not available in my country soooo sad 😢
maybe not in English speaking communities but for a long time it's been the 2nd most earning "idol" game with mostly male characters
only second to ensemble stars
so it's not really weird, they most likely didn't even choose it, they probably just grabbed whatever there was in the stores they went to (and since twstd is a popular game in Japan, of course merch is gonna be easily found in Japanese shops)
@@kitsunebiShake second most earning and yet GSC wont release the nendos to the international market? That's crazy 🤨
My pleasure! I grew up in a not well-off family so my mission is to help everyone save money

Hey Jackie!! I am a tamagotchi lover and indeed that tamagotchi is an evangelion themed one from the NANO series!! @@Userhandleidk in terms of tamagotchi prices, more or less!

I'd probably still get it I like snacks
riddle roseharts is my favret character and wen i learn that it was the harts lasuwol i was crossing my fingers hoping you got riddle i was so happy
To answer your question about the figurine at 6:15
He is a member of the KPOP group BTS. They put out little Tiny Tan shorts before with animated characters of themselves. They also have little characters with Line Friends called BT21 (they are mainly Animals there). Hope this helps a bit, Jackie. 💜
and his name is J-hope
9:30 'Gatcha' can just indicate a 'surprise/luck' part and can mean anything from loot boxes to character pulls to toys to candy - what you showed and got is a capsule gatcha (or gachapon) specifically.
I've bought those chocolate marshmallows on Amazon in a display pack. And I want to say it was $10 or less for a pretty big box.
This is my first video I ever watched of you. You are funny.
OMG Jackie really saved my behind on this one. This was on my purchase list after seeing it everywhere but it's so scummy!
Also Jackie sure jumped on advent calendar season FAST. Loving it!!!
I love your channel so much literally been my favourite channel since I was a kid and I still love watching your videos sometimes for a hit of nostalgia and happiness :) thank you so much for making these videos they mean the world to me, I hope you're well
Gah, Thank you Jackie for making this! I actually had gotten some of the Sugoi lucky bags and I really liked them!! I felt like I got what I paid for but I'm sure it was surplus products and they also didn't have any explanation for what some of it was. (Actually finally learned what the rice seasoning was because of you lol, But I got a Pokemon pack one). I thought about getting the Advent Calendar from them, but glad to not have wasted my money.
I love 13- The gum. I had them once and fell in love lol
I had very bad day and getting a notification u posted lightened up my mood !💗 Love you Jackie keep going with the amazing vids and i am a big fan of your real little series 💜
Love frm India 🦋
Tis the season Jackie! Let the fun begin. 🎉
THATS INSANE THAT U GOT THE SEA SLUG PLUSHIE I legit collected those about a year ago and paid $20 each bc they were impossible to find anywhere for cheaper. I have 3 and I love them dearly 8:55 and wow I’m honestly in love with the Eva tamagotchi, I’m sad you didn’t get one u liked more though,
You actually liked my birthday! The dessert type towel thingy! Yay
Honestly advent calendars haven’t been the best experience through the years. The one Christmas advent calendar that we got that I thought was totally worth the price and was adorable was actually sold at ALDIs and it was a gnome kit. The box was like a giant closet with drawers … and one who doesn’t like the elf on the shelf but wants something cute I would definitely keep an eye out for this advent calendar (I don’t remember the exact price since my MIL actually bought it but it was definitely under $30)
A gnome kit? That sounds intriguing! So it was like a DIY gnome kit?
It looks so incredibly cute, those little accessories it comes with! Sadly, they don't seem to sell it at ALDI Germany.
That sounds cute, I like all miniature things.
@@cottoncandy6273 I wouldn’t say DIY cause the gnome is already created. If anything I would say more of like “dress up and accessorize”
@@LadyInTheTree Ohhh I see! Sounds like fun!
I am so excited it is finally Jackie’s-advent-calendar-review season! ❤
Same!! I can't wait to see more of her reviewing advent calendars!!😁💖
Our tradition for Christmas in California is we meet family and friends and all of us has to prepare some food or recipe and bring it to a family member's house.❄️☃️🌲
My sister bought me those Hello Kitty marshmallow with chocolate inside. They are so good!😊
they are squish mellows
In the UK we also have advent calendars
But most of the time it’s just chocolate for about 3 quid from Sainsbury’s - best ones are Cadbury 🤤
However lots of people still do it traditionally (like my grandparents) who just get a little picture in it :)
I love SaltyCrafter's run cycle. Always fun to see.
