Sadly, the only other movie I remember seeing him was in that one Tooth Fairy movie that had The Rock (he was still pretty funny and great in that movie too)
I have to say, Wheatley has shown some pretty commendable intelligence. He knew to review the old GlaDOS tapes to learn from her mistakes, and he even knew to look at his OWN transfer to recognize that it was a mistake on her part not to rig the stalemate button. He even used reverse psychology just like GlaDOS did in Portal 1 to get you to do exactly what he wanted you to do. In fact, if he just hadn't screwed up the gel placement, I honestly can't see any way Chell could have survived that encounter.

He actually sounds pretty serious when he yells to NOT PRESS THE BUTTON!, as if there is a part of his mind that is screaming at him "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!"
Well remember, he was programmed to delibrately be a moron. In order to purposely be wrong, you still have to know what's the smart move and choose the other option. For instance, he despite his brilliance in examining the tapes, doesn't think to remove the Portal surface goo pipeline from the room. Nor can he really hit you with the bombs.

Honestly, even without part 5 that was a pretty good plan. Sure it's simple, but in theory Chell would be completely powerless to stop him. Literally all he needed to do was notice the conversion gel pipe.
@@Talyrion Wheatley knows the neurotoxin can be disabled, and Chell is too dangerous to be left running around for even a few minutes. Wheatley probably isnt making it up, he had the same scenes with the other test subjects just like he did with you. Knocking on the door and stuff. They all died at the end. He's the product of the greatest minds of a generation working together with the express purpose of building the dumbest troll who _ever_ lived. And you just put him in charge of the whole facility. The way he basically loses his mind and gets so damn overwhelmed to the point where he starts sounding on the verge of a mental breakdown, he sounds so lightheaded to the point where he just started randomly talking about football.
ive tried that once, and if you shoot the same one as the one under wheatley they just change it. say the orange portal was under wheatley and you shoot it to the moon, they would change the one under wheatley to blue
I'm actually proud of Wheatley for doing a proper hack at 7:50 (Actual hack at 8:20, the other timestamp is just him entering several passwords before succeeding)
He was actually pretty smart getting rid of the portal surfaces and booby trapping the stalemate button. The only thing he did wrong was destroy the goo stuff
"Even though we're enemies, we're enemies with a common interest" - GLaDOS "You know the old saying, Makarov, The enemy of my enemy is my friend." - Captain John Price
Something I never realized was that each phase of the fight was on it's own separate timer. For a game with as much personality as this, giving you a chance to really enjoy the chatter, that's such good design and I really appreciate it. Save the third phase but, eh. while the voice acting was excellent, it was going around in circles, fittingly so for how crazed Wheatly was by that point. A masterclass example of both design and writing, and accommodating both. "NOBODY'S GOING TO SPACE, MATE!" Ah the irony... still so good to this day...
I'll go on record and say there are definitely people who are bigger morons than Wheatley. Like, some of his plans would have actually worked had it not been for a factor that he either had no control over, or something he has no way of actually knowing.
There is a missed line that can come from RICK THE ADVENTURE SPHERE! If you listen to his babbling for long enough, he will give you a plan where he will "zing wheatley into the stone age" "YOU HAVE BEEN A THORN IN MY SIDE FOR LONG ENOUGH!" -Wheatley "Yeah? Well THISS thorn is ABOUT to take you down! MAN that sounded a lot better in my head" -Rick
And what makes it even funnier is that Aperture probably got their stuff stolen by Black Mesa in the first place because their password security is so bad.
Finally a version that doesn't cut Wheatley off at the end before firing the Portal Gun at the moon. It's nice that it's possible to fire the gun immediately but at the same time it's good to hear everything he has to say beforehand :D
Wheatley reminded me a lot of Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda, both were characters I was so emotionally connected with that I actually wanted them to win.
A plot hole. In the last few seconds, right before you are sucked into the portal, Wheatley's handles magically appear out of thin air. They were absent ever since he took over the facility, but then they just appeared.

Honestly, even without part 5 that was a pretty good plan. Sure it's simple, but in theory Chell would be completely powerless to stop him. Literally all he needed to do was notice the conversion gel pipe.
That or not using the bombs. In theory, No Portal Surface + Neurotoxin would have been enough, but he just had to take that extra step.
@@Talyrion Wheatley knows the neurotoxin can be disabled, and Chell is too dangerous to be left running around for even a few minutes. Turrets were out of the question, so that just leaves bombs, and the only downside to those (conversion gel) was something Wheatley literally couldn’t have known about. The bombs were a good idea.
@@TheSpaceCommunistyou would have to reach the generator. and chell is stuck in there with wheatley.
"Oh did you bring your portal gun? Nothing to port here, luv, just far Pounds of dead weight about to be two hundred and ten, fatty"
(That's actually kind of a good burn)
Actually stopped to replay what he said cuz " did he just say "love"
2:43 - 3:27 Wheatley says he tried to use ~6 other test subjects, to escape the facility, before you/Chell. I wonder what happened to them...
Also does that mean that there are other test subjects that survived? Maybe Wheatley is just making it up, but it'd be interesting if there were clues to what happened to them.
Wheatley probably isnt making it up, he had the same scenes with the other test subjects just like he did with you. Knocking on the door and stuff. They all died at the end. But Chell was still alive. So yeah. It is true, GLaDOS experimented with hundreds or maybe thousands of test subjects. But then, they all died one by one until only Chell was left.
tbh i'm interested in the story of the 6 other humans
@@thecrowdedone5359 But when Chell and Wheatley leave the relaxation centre there’s only one way out for her, through the (unbroken) loading bay door thingy. So unless there was another way out for the other five, she must’ve been the first
Well, all the other test subject’s power to their life support systems was changed to direct to chel’s room instead of the others by rattman
according to the dev commentary it's canon, and it was going to be a big reveal but they decided to keep it as something implied
fun fact: the moon is actually upside-down. No clip during the fight and you can see it.
Flametusk
What do you mean by upside down?
El spycrab Gaming :v It's located way down from where you are battling, when the ceiling opens it reflects a texture and then you get transported to the moon map which is actually under were you originally were I think.
The moon is tidally locked with earth soo
@@impmadness Actually not that far down, it's right under the stage
I died because I kept listening to Wheatley.
Only 3 people disliked.
Because Wheatley booby-trapped the dislike button.
I disliked dis vid b'cuz i wanna killed by a booby trap
PART FIVE, BOOBY-TRAP THE DISLIKE BUTTON!
...Wha?! Are you still trolling?! You have GOT to be joking! You've got to be kidding me!
Can we please have a moment of silence for the fallen who clearly press the disliked button.
roxywhiskermuddle He's not just a regular troll... He was _designed_ to be a troll. He's the product of the greatest minds of a generation working together with the express purpose of building the dumbest troll who _ever_ lived. And you just put him in charge of the whole facility. [clap clap] Good, that's still working.
I AM NOT A TROLL!
It breaks my heart to hear Wheatley on the verge of tears he has always been my favorite character
The way he basically loses his mind and gets so damn overwhelmed to the point where he starts sounding on the verge of a mental breakdown, he sounds so lightheaded to the point where he just started randomly talking about football.
8 people pressed the stalemate button
And the dislike button.
I truely feel sorry for wheatley and honestly want portal 3 about saving him.
Well, lego dimensions DID save Wheatley and he also gained anti gravity, so I am pretty happy.
That kind of actually happened! I'm not even kidding 😂
blue sky…. oh god gotta read it again
Who cares about him? He can drift aimlessly through space and crash into a planet or moon for all I care.
@@tailsfan11westandwithukraineI care about him, and if you don't you are legally a monster
12:43-12:48 Me in Pokémon when my opponent survives with 1 or 2 HP.
xD
THE DAMN STURDY ABILITY
And then the Snorlax that survived used Rest.
Part 5. BOOBY TRAP THE DISLIKE BUTTON!
Part 5: BOOBY TRAP THE UNSUBSCRIBE BUTTON
Wha-?! There are still 75 and counting dislikes?! You are joking!
@@grandomrye3873 the half-life life ALyx trailer has over 900, for some reason ???
Grandom Rye U HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
This fucking aged so badly
ive tried that once, and if you shoot the same one as the one under wheatley they just change it. say the orange portal was under wheatley and you shoot it to the moon, they would change the one under wheatley to blue
Loli Hunter That’s because it’s a cutscene.
You know for the "Intelligence Dampaning sphere" He actually had a smart idea to make sure there were no portal surfaces. The pipe was his only flaw.
I'm actually proud of Wheatley for doing a proper hack at 7:50
(Actual hack at 8:20, the other timestamp is just him entering several passwords before succeeding)
Yeah, in cybersecurity its called a brute force attack.
I cried the entire time this happened...I'm still crying it's been years and I still feel guilty as fuck for not grabbing him
He was actually pretty smart getting rid of the portal surfaces and booby trapping the stalemate button. The only thing he did wrong was destroy the goo stuff
No... the only thing he did wrong... was to try to kill us
"Even though we're enemies, we're enemies with a common interest"
- GLaDOS
"You know the old saying, Makarov, The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
- Captain John Price
Something I never realized was that each phase of the fight was on it's own separate timer. For a game with as much personality as this, giving you a chance to really enjoy the chatter, that's such good design and I really appreciate it.
Save the third phase but, eh. while the voice acting was excellent, it was going around in circles, fittingly so for how crazed Wheatly was by that point.
A masterclass example of both design and writing, and accommodating both.
"NOBODY'S GOING TO SPACE, MATE!"
Ah the irony... still so good to this day...
that adventure sphere is pretty smooth gosh
10:51 I like how he said it like "pa-pee-ay"
I'm French and he pronounced papier mache properly
yeah that is actually the pronunciation. the misconception is that is pronounced pap-ee-air
Sokobansolver JxZjznzhzs
and later, he landed in Tamriel somewhere in Skyrim.
Only after the Space Core landed in Whiterun Hold.
8:16
He doesn't know the alphabet lmao
And so does the password
I love how he deleted that thing then said "WHERE'S THE UNDELETE BUTTON"
The fact he finally succeeded in hacking something made me bust a gut laughing
And what makes it even funnier is that Aperture probably got their stuff stolen by Black Mesa in the first place because their password security is so bad.
As said on a different video, Wheatley actually has pretty good hindsight, it's just that foresight is the part that gets him
Finally a version that doesn't cut Wheatley off at the end before firing the Portal Gun at the moon. It's nice that it's possible to fire the gun immediately but at the same time it's good to hear everything he has to say beforehand :D
Wheatley sounds genuinely hurt and it really hurts
"You like revenge, right? Everybody likes revenge. Well, Let's go get some."
The most true thing I've heard.
In game (courtesy call) you can actually see other relaxation vaults smashed into the wall so what he said about there being others might be true.
Wheatley you were my friend. I corrupted you to insanity to beat you. I wish it could have been another way
I adore this game, the writing is too good I always come back to rewatch it
Wheatley reminded me a lot of Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda, both were characters I was so emotionally connected with that I actually wanted them to win.
I really can’t help but feel bad for poor ol’ Wheatley
when Wheatley said: "I'm still connected! I can pull myself! I can still fix this!". what would have happened if he had done that?
I just noticed that Wheatley's handles disappear when he takes over, and then they 'magically' appear when you go through the portal to the moon.
13:53 The sweetest moment in video game history when GLADOS pulls you back in.
I've never heard that payoff for the password gag when you're booting up glados, that's so satsifying to hear
13:40
Probably one of my favourite villain defeats ever
"This place would've been a TRIUMPH if it wasn't for you!" Reference aside, this is probably Wheatley's most raw line in the whole game
*“No need to be selfish, luv, you going to die!”*
Feel bad for Wheatley
He's just insecure and thinks that everyone is using him for their personal gain.
1:40 "Look out, I'm right behind you!" *turns around* XD
Is it me or is it that when glados says: "Well lets go get some!" It sounds like "Lets go get sub!"?Weird
lol
“Biggest muscle in my body, my brain”
*says undelete instead of recover*
Or undo
"second biggest, my muscles"
A plot hole. In the last few seconds, right before you are sucked into the portal, Wheatley's handles magically appear out of thin air. They were absent ever since he took over the facility, but then they just appeared.
You mean animation error or overlook.
@@crazy13alexit is a plot hole tho. chell would've died if they didn't magically appear
“Take one look at your precious human moon, it cannot help you now”
Are you sure about that?
The only problem with knowing how to beat Wheatley is missing all of his hilarious dialogue
Why’d this make me tear up..
grab me grab me GRAAAAB MEEEE
I love how he said “I’m right behind you” and then he turned around
