Great video but I still do not see what the problem is. Is the problem that these roofers are charging 15k for a 10k worth of job and keeping the difference? who would I as a homeowner call to tell me a more precise price to replace the roof? roofer is gonna charge as much as possible and ins adjuster will not want to pay out.
What if my customer chooses not to include his 1,000 deducible in the final check I pick up when the job is completed. This happened to me and I called the adjuster and told the adjuster the customer didn’t include his deductible in the final check. He told me to go kick rocks and the insurance company doesn’t cares less if he pays or not, not their business. That’s between me and customer
That's correct. That's between you and the customer. But it counts as non-payment of the account and you can file a lien on the house or send it to collections. If you have a good contract, you also can void the product warranty and your workmanship warranty.
Your videos are useful and instructive. But, I don't get your point in this one. You state in other videos that when the ACV payment is issued, the insurance carrier deducts the amount of your deductible from that payment. By retaining the amount of the deductible, the insurer has taken payment of the deducible out of the homeowner's hands. So, how do "unethical" roofers "pay" the homeowner's deductible? Do they make payment directly to the homeowner?
That's explained in the video. A fraudulent invoice is sent to the insurance company saying that the charge that will be made to the homeowner includes the deductible amount, then when he collects money from the homeowner, he doesn't collect the deductible amount.
My insurance company writes the check to me. I go get a roof. I don't pay crazy premiums to give it to some middle man. I'm going to put the VERY best roof on my house. If I pay more out of pocket so what? I'm not making anything extra. Don't want it. All I want is the best roof money can buy and someone putting it on right. I WILL NOT PAY PREMIUMS THAT WOULD HAVE PUT TWO ROOFS ON MY HOUSE JUST TO GIVE IT TO SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW. That is insane.
Going thru claim process now for IAN, insurance not yet inspected roof, but here in Florida, my hurricane deductible is 7500, or 2% of my home insured value. If the cost of roof is maybe 15-17K, guess who is paying almost half??? I am!!!! Terrible that insurance costs keep rising and coverage is declining very fast, especially for roofs, wind damage hurricanes and storms etc.......
Customers love kick backs, and actually stay away from contractors that want to collect the entire amount. Its all business and truth is contractors, insurance companies and the insured are always defrauding eachother.
Not sure what your point is. You're saying that contractors who want to collect the full amount that they agreed to are defrauding the homeowner? If so, I completely disagree.
@@danpena7922 It isn't collected from the isurance it is left off of the amount they pay. Claim is 15k, deductible is 1k, Insurance is only going to pay 14k for the claim. You signed a contract for 15k. You owe the difference.
@@danpena7922They aren't double charging. Suppose a body shop does $2,500 to replace a bumper, the insurance will pay $2,000 and it's the body shop's right to collect the $500 deductible. Instead they're doing a $3,000 insurance bill and 'writing off' $500 customer receivable.
Great info.
Thank you for looking up and helping home owners.
Glad you find it helpful! That's why we do this. 😀

A roofer paying a deductible for a homeowner is insurance fraud and is illegal in most states

Perfectly worded.

Yes, I agree. Your costs to buy the insurance don't go down, but the benefit you get from them definitely decreases. It's a sad situation.

@@homesteadroofing in other words the corruption is made possible by all parties as money is the issue here.
The deductible is taken first from the ins ..
Of course it is.
So then how can the roofer charge for it again? Insanity.

Makes sense.
