Your videos are useful and instructive. But, I don't get your point in this one. You state in other videos that when the ACV payment is issued, the insurance carrier deducts the amount of your deductible from that payment. By retaining the amount of the deductible, the insurer has taken payment of the deducible out of the homeowner's hands. So, how do "unethical" roofers "pay" the homeowner's deductible? Do they make payment directly to the homeowner?

Hi, I just finished the claims process for my new roof replacement. My roofer explained the process in detail, met with the adjuster at my home for the inspection and my roof was approved. When the adjuster sent me the estimate my roofer asked to see it which I obliged after they explained how insurance companies work off of fixed prices in the exact software. It’s not about price at all, but line items. And boy was my adjusters missing some. Thankfully my roofer had a trained team that supplemented for all the items missed as well as incorrect measurements for other items. My adjuster was out of state and was so obviously not familiar with my states building codes. I’m glad I sent my roofer the estimate! Asking them to provide one prior to seeing it would only prolong the already long process. My roofers supplement estimate was approved as you can’t argue building codes and my roof was completed. My roofer created a very extensive completion report for myself and the insurance company with detailed photos and videos of the entire scope of work performed. My second check was released and i happily paid my roofer because wow it is a lot of work for them doing it through insurance, versus retail. It’s finally over and I am beyond satisfied. People, hire a reputable local roofer with google reviews and can show you past jobs they’ve completed. Past client testimonials are a plus. This channel does a fair bit of fear mongering but there are also plenty of good contracting companies out there. Use common sense, don’t always buy into the fear tactics. Trust your roofer, you hired them and they work for you, paid by the insurance company. Also public adjusters are expensive and only may be worth it if you have a very large, very detailed claim. For basic roof replacement, meh. Waste of money.

I had a guy work for me with a bad leg. He built a triangle box on a 10/12 pitch if I remember right. Had cushion material on the bottom. On top of that he road his motorcycle to the job!

As an insurance agent in Colorado, I've had two customers who fell victim to a deceptive door-to-door roofing company. These customers paid the full amount upfront, but the company never returned to complete the work. When the customers tried to contact the company, they found it had gone out of business. Sadly, both customers had to take out second mortgages to pay for the necessary roof repairs. Based on this experience, I do not trust any roofing company that uses door-to-door sales tactics.

One of my clients decided to keep the claim settlement funds provided by the insurance company for their roof. When it came time to renew their homeowner's insurance policy, the insurer conducted an inspection of the roof and chose not to renew the policy. As a result of this non-renewal, no other standard insurance providers were willing to offer them coverage. They ultimately had to turn to a surplus lines carrier, which resulted in them paying double the premium, with their roof now excluded from coverage. The condition of their roof was so poor that they had to secure a loan to finance its replacement. This decision ended up costing them significantly more money, proving to be a regrettable choice.

A very informative video with some smart practical advice. But I am sure it will displease many agenda-driven people with money to burn. :))

I'm always leery of anyone that takes 7 minutes to get to the point. This should have been a 2 minute video. Same old tired mystery-box formula to string viewers along to extend the TY engagement metric.

I recently had some damage to my roof due to bad weather and hail. I've had several roofing companies knocking on my door, asking me to sign up with them and record my insurance company. I haven’t taken any action yet, and I’m unsure how to proceed. I’m a bit skeptical about the situation since this is my first time dealing with a roof replacement. Seems there are many variables you’re not including. Reasons for showing contractor ins estimate : 1) recoverable depreciation must be invoiced correctly 2) scope of work is already provided by ins. If they are missing anything the contractor can supplement 3) ins is paying for specific work to be completed and expects it to be done in order for them to maintain coverage. Too many variable missing in this video

Just watched this post from you and wanted to add some personal corroboration regarding the "one problem with this shingle" point you made. I'm on the central Florida coast and had my roof replaced year. Knowing the performance advantages of SBS shingles, that's what I wanted to have installed. Originally, based on reviews I'd seen on your channel and others, I wanted to use Malarkey Legacy, but soon discovered they were not sold in Florida. That was bad enough...but, as it turned out, I couldn't find SBS shingles from any brand available from anyone in this area. Even the roofing contractor I used (which specializes in Certainteed products), couldn't get CertainTeed's own Northgate shingles delivered here (or so they claimed). It was very disappointing. I ended up with CertainTeed Landmark, which I understand is a decent product. But, knowing the advantages of SBS and willing to pay more for a premium product that provides better protection in Florida's climate and weather extremes, the fact that I couldn't get the specific product I wanted to use, or any product of comparable construction and quality was shocking. Having to accept, instead, a lower quality alternative on my house was incredibly frustrating. To me, it's crazy that no SBS shingles were available in Florida. Hopefully, the manufacturers and distributors will change that soon.

Get yourself a pair of cougar paws. And never make a video about "how to" scale down a steep slope using a hop stepper, when the video shows you used the homeowners Velux skylight more than anything. They have shitty flashing kits and notoriously leak often even when installed by manufacturer specs. Let alone when it's on a wall steep slope. You'd never under any circumstances stand on that! And whoever did the install should have known to install a thin metal diverter to direct water around the skylight, like a thin metal mini-cricket. That will leak for sure within 10 years regardless of underlayment. Even Grace. Needs a diverter and a permanent break from human weight

😂 Totally agree with that "Lemme See Your Scope" jazz 😂 They tried that on me, I saved his number as *DO NOT ANSWER* with notes as to why. I was like *_Cmon Son._* I sniffed the play out WITHIN TEN SECONDS. I told him he could drone my roof, but don't go up on my roof. I wasn't taking any chances on the magical "I got hurt on your property" jazz, either. 💯

As a contractor why not deliberately order MORE than enough shingle (added in the estimate) that way you eliminate any delays and then whatever is left over let owner keep since you already charged for them in the estimate OR give them the difference and keep them? That way its fair for both and no worry of delays? if you charge under the guise of "so we don't have to delay work" that just leaves incentive to have way more shingle on hand (paid for by owner) that you get to keep in the end! Seems predatory. The contractor has every incentive to order excessive shingle since he gets to keep all the left over. if he has to give credit or let owner keep them then there is no incentive either way.

Question....Are Starter and/or Hip And Ridge Shingles packaged differently? Are they labeled Starter shingles? I often see neighbors get a pallet of shingles delivered to their driveway before the work starts, but the packaging for the shingles all looks the same?
