You just got to keep your shoulder loose when your rotation

it is a consequence of letting your arm and your shoulder go at the last moment of the body rotation... rather than throwing your arm and shoulder actively, let it be thrown by your body rotation... the scapular will pop forward from the momentum by itself... if you release it to early it will not pop and also if you arent loose... also forget about shoe shining.. it is also important in the other punches, not just uppercuts.. its kind of easier in hooks and uppercuts, but it should also be done in straight punches via the same principle of letting go late while beeing loose

The easiest thing to do is use a metronome and for each click a strike is thrown. You just slowly bump up the bpm until you’re up to speed

use ground to generate power from hips, torso rotation, no need to pivot feet, knees sway inwards, feet roll, back foot turns in when need greater extension to reach further.
    opposite shoulder goes far back
relax for more power and speed
speed through arm on extension and retraction
speed and power thru rotation of core torso
relax to be snappy, looseness of shoulder for whiplike effect, push or punch with arm and clubbing.

@@TheBoxingLocker hmm, not really, I have already found so much info on your channel that I haven't anywhere else. The tip on pulling the opposite punching hands shoulder back whilst punching is so good, I kind of figured that concept out myself a few months ago just mucking around with different concepts in mind whilst shadow boxing and that video really verified and drove home to keep that concept in mind when practicing. Maybe you could do a video on the art of shadow boxing, why it's the most important thing to practice, why it's important to keep the body relaxed and mental ques on how to stay relaxed and whippy, why or why not to practice with hand weights and a band around the knees, and other general shadow boxing tips.

In a boxing bout, should I still snap my punches or go with my punch/follow through?
What I do is I snap my punches when doing 1 to 2 powershots, and go with my punches when I follow through with combinations. Any thoughts how to improve this?

    • @TheBoxingLocker

Its all a matter of situation, position and intent. That dictates what you throw and how.

Nice attempt as explaining something that, truthfully, is very difficult to explain to "teach". At one time, I had a great coach in Chicago (was trained by the Ol' Mongoose) I was all over him trying to get more "snap" on my punches, but there was an old man approached me after sparring. He said "why you shakin' head???" I told him no matter how hard I train, I still am gassed after 3 rounds!!!
He said "cmon with me, son, AND shut your mouth so you can HEAR"
FIRST, YOU TOO TENSE! AND THAT IS JUST GONNA TAKE TIME TILL YOU LOOSIE GOOSEY! EVER REALIZE WHEN U IN THERE WITH A DUDE LOOK LIKE GUMBY??? LOOK EFFORTLESS??? BUT WHEN HIS COMBO COMES, YOU BARELY SEE IT, BUT FEEL LIKE YOU GOT STUNG BY BEE ON STEROIDS?"
    HELL YEAH!
HE WAS 73YO, AND TOOK ME TO AN OLD SANDBAG AWAY FROM EVERYONE ELSE, N THIS MAN WAS PUTTIN EM TOGETHER LIKE A YOUNG Floyd Patterson! Battabat...bat...bat l.. battabatbatbat!
I'm an ol' Crazy Coach now, and even in the hardest core projects, I got everybody shakin there hands out and saying LOOSEY GOOSEY!
LOOSE=SPEED=POWER, add Accuracy, timing, and often = champion - author? This NOBODY!
Just want to add, that some have snap that the casual eye can't see or feel! Fast twitch fiber guys ... u know, the majority that talk about some phantom punch with a young Cassious Clay and Sonny Liston. Digitally slow it people!!!! The snap on this man's punches, just when he turned em over was like a straight 2 from an average heavy! Yes, somewhat, God given! Just like when Clay looked like he was on skates on ice and Sonny was throwin punches at nothing.
SNAP takes time! Average ... 2 years studying OUR discipline of martial arts! The greatest strikers in the world....boxers! Get back to what has been changed from my day but wasn't broken!!!! Jab jab jab! No chicken wings! We even used "jab spar" ... frustrating as hell but develops THAT shoulder so your jab popping like a sniper! Thought this coach was crazy!!! Iced my shoulder every night, but 1 year later, I could win a fight with just my jab, if I chose!
Throw 'em from where you have 'em and quickly return 'em from where you threw 'em from!!! Like this man said, stay on those balls of feet .. sit a little and recruit by coordinating from that big toe, through every muscle to the striking knuckle!!! And I promise, not just snap, but "those straight/overhand, uppers with that right, AND the recoil of those 7' n 3's (hooks to body and head will all do damage!) Examples for orthodox.
Be first, never stop throwin' them hands, and God Bless!

@@TheBoxingLocker you're acting kind a hurt, insecure ex 😂 ask you did was showed basic punching technique. One can do everything in there and still not snap their punches. "Snapping" em requires scapular release. You just repeated steps to the basic technique and mislabeled the video.
Put on your big girl panties and stop getting so butthurt over simple observations.

what are some combinations to work on ? i mainly been training to know how to throw the shots but not combos

    • @TheBoxingLocker
      @TheBoxingLocker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Establish the jab, the rest of the combination is subject to situation, position and intent
