- Sonic Smackdown is a Fighting Sonic Fangame. I been waiting for CPUs to be added in before I played it, and I'm glad they're finally here! They can be brutal on the hardest difficulty. I showcase all the characters and all the CPUs are set to Oppressive difficulty (the hardest setting).

Could definitely use some expression on the characters as well as some camera movement during specials, but this game looks really promising. I’m super excited to see Silver.

It's the same stance as Rashid from Street Fighter 5. Even one of his supers is based off of him. It's a good fit.

My only beef with it is... it’s a SONIC fighting game, it could use a little more ground speed. Even Sonic the Fighters has them being able to run across the stage.
Hopefully it’s because it’s still in development.

This is an exceptionally good Sonic fighting game. I just wish it was made by Sega. It could've even been a sequel to Sonic Battle.

I really like Sonic's loose playstyle and it seems like he's always moving fitting his impatient personality but also that he's always ready and I love the spin dash move from battle love that game
I have not been to Sonic Fan Games HQ in a minute. That was my go-to place for Sonic fan games. I thought it was shut down permanently but it looks like the fans are keeping it up with fresh, new fan games.
This makes me proud to be a Sonic fan. Also, this gives me more imagination for my road work (running) days. Seeing these characters duke it out at their best (no dummy rings, however, nor bat bombs)...just practically, pure, physical pummeling with skills, techniques, power, and speed.
Additionally, I absolutely *LOVE* the remix of Stardust Speedway JP bad future.
My freaking gosh I am geeking out on the inside.
You guys are the GOAT. And I thank Lord God for being positively exposed to Sonic media and games as a kid.

This looks amazing, i would love to play it and i hope to see more characters join in on the fun plus wow tails didn't give blaze a chance
Heck, I didn't know something this awesome existed! This so great in so many ways: Frist, it's not easy to make good fighting game physics, like in Blazblue. This game includes some of those and excels at it. Second, this game is made by a real Sonic fan, not just by some Dragon ball fan boy who wanted Sonic version of Dragon Ball FighterZ. Proof for this is that they even made some cool mechanics in this, such as the rings that drop if you are launched towards walls or ground. Collecting those rings will replenish your recoverable health. Boy, I could go on about this whole day, but I'll just say this: this is one of the best Sonic fan projects currently out there, alongside Infinity Engine, ofcourse. I'm really looking forwards to see how it evolves.
When i run this game, there's no sound even though the volume is 100%. What? Am i the only one who has this problem?

Extra points for including Mecha Sonic. I'm not used to hearing him talk, but I'm glad that Genesis sound effects were used for his attacks.

While I'm aware this game takes a bunch of moves from other characters (Mecha Sonic using Iron Avenger), I'm fine with all of it EXCEPT Rouge flying around with Firebrand's animations. Highly unfitting of her character; just give her Morrigan's flight animation instead. She already has pretty much most of her normals so why not lol

Why does metal sonic have a bunch of black panther's animations. Did they just rip off assets from a bunch of other games and mash them together?
Basically, yes. This game takes animations from Sonic battle as well as several other fighting games. I'll admit that it's a little lazy in some aspects.
I really really love this. Personally I think it's really odd to see Sonic characters moving so slow, so I'd suggest panning the camera out and increasing the movement speeds? But the attacks, animations, and attack speeds as well as the verticality is fantastic. After some polish, I'd pay for this
I feel like the walking speed needs to be changed the most, they move really slow without the dashes, but yeah those suggestions would also be nice.

This is a game concept that sonic needs. I’m also sure that a majority of the sonic fan base has requested this type of fighting game for sonic. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea at all either. It could honestly take huge inspiration from dragon ball fighterz and could maybe even have a similar art style. However then again we don’t know if that’ll ever happen...

This game is bizzare.
It definitely looks like it's still in development (Example: Rogue has Firebrand's super from Marvel vs Capcom Infinite with the same Animation, almost frame by frame), but you can clearly see the love put into it. Some Characters are very unique in terms of playstyle (Tails relying on Spacing and placing Traps) (Metal Sonic with his ability to dash in the Air) and even have moves that represent them perfectly, like Knuckles having his Glide as an Attack.
In conclusion...this is a really dang good fan game

Honestly I thought his Smash idle animations would be more appropriate but this is all very cool.

And the only 2d games to actually put his personality into his idles have only been the advanced series and sonic battle. Be that as it may that it references source material, the source material itself is pretty boring and doesn’t suit the character either.

Advance just did more than the impatient waiting animation, but Sonic's "stance" in advance before his idle animations isn't any less boring. All his animations suit his character, they're fiiiiiiiiiiine~ You just don't like them.

I really don't think the majority of fighting game fans would care about a fighter like this having anthropomorphic characters. If it's fun, plays really well and has all the finest bells and whistles added to it, there's no refusing it, They will play it!
@@seishinaozora5839 These are beloved characters I think it could work. Sega did it once (Sonic Battle) but they chose to put it on the GBA which is why it probably didn't get much clout.
Oh I'm sure the fanbase will play it, but I don't think too many are really into fighting games, so they might not stick around. I loved Sonic Battle/Sonic the Fighters and would like a new Sonic 2D fighting game, but it is a risk for Sega if servers could become almost dead after a few months.
It would have to be at least somewhat complex or have an interesting mechanic to attract the FGC.
