Hi, nice video. There still plenty mess kits around here in Sweden. Complete kit cost between 450 up to 800 swedish crone. Gasmask bag i would say 250- 450. Feels like they are getting more popular here to.

Great video and I just have to say that this kit is absolutely outstanding! Used it throughout my military service and it was actually what I cooked on for a daily basis over a couple of years. Every single meal was prepared in such a kit when being in the fields more than most people will ever be. Still using it to this day, but not for lightweight hiking… I’m starting to get older and must prioritise low weight instead…

I have one M40 and two M44 and ordered PM40 from the pathfinder store. I love these mess kits. Great piece for gear! ATB Sam Adler from Vietnam

you have an excellent kit! so well preserved it deserves to be looked at as a collection item instead as a mere camping kit

Its a great bit of kit, I’ve also got the SS model in good condition - I love using mine, although the simmer ring doesn’t work well for me as a snuffer, I’ve had it fully closed off at times and the flames still pour up from the simmer ring holes - as high as flames with or without it. Best way I snuff is to invert the lid and drop it in top (to protect the rubber gasket). Actually, the best way I’ve learnt to cook on it to limit burning things is to tip wind shield upside down and put pot (or any type of pan) on top of shield, with metho burner on ground - works a treat.

It’s a fantastic piece of kit. I used a kit like that during my army service in Sweden back in 96-97 and still use it today. It never fails and it is, as you said, very versatile since I can use it over a open fire or with a burner. Love it. Keep making your videos. I think they are great! BR Alex

the "waist strap" might be a leg strap. I use the rubberized French gas mask bag.

Nice set! Would say the stamped marking on the inside of the flap is the manufacturer´s stamp. 1940 makes it 80 years old! Svea (pronounced as one word, not an abbreviation) is the producer of the kitchen or kitchen parts. They have made many kitchens and products related to them. m/44 is of aluminium, can still be found as they were also issued as part of the civilian defense materiel. In Sweden the so called kuksa is kalled kåsa (cosa for you English speaking lot). Kuksa is a Finnish variation. Great to see our beloved "filth pot" being imported all the way to Oz. Swede in SA here, where are you?

Thanks for that info. If this new product is as good as the old one the US$79.99 plus shipping then it would be a great buy. I will look for reviews on TH-cam come September
