And so two worlds met for the first time ever and the history of both was forever changed....... When the lid of the Martian cylinder unscrewed, the music that played gave the feel that something that would insure that the world would never be the same again was about to happen......
Also, Ironclads are your best early game units, but they are massive resource hogs. Try to limit yourself to a 2 on each coast and you'll find you can support a lot more of the lesser units. Humans should build their facilities in coastal zones close to the water so their ironclads can cover them. If you ever want to see Tier 3 units in action (on either side) you will need to fortify and defend at the England/Scotland border for a LONG time.
The game would be switching back and forth between 480 and 768 if I did that. It's a 15 year old game, it wasn't designed with 720 and 1080 screens in mind.
I heard somewhere that US troops may have pictures of Rommel in their tanks. Rommel was a great tactician and a humane German officer that treated POWs well. It is good to remember the good tactics even with your enemies.
It runs just fine on vista...it may crash the first time you run it after the cutscenes, but after that it seems to be fine. Don't try to change the default resolution, because that DOES make it crash. Since I finally found my copy of the game, here are some Human Strategy notes if you want a challange (the campaign is very short and not hard at all if you use the "Best" units (the rolling guns and tanks): To make it more challenging, simply ignore the two above mentioned units and use others
If you turn off the in-game music, you can hear typewriter and vehicle sounds in the war room. I only noticed this today as I turned off the CD music intending to turn it back on again after my CD drive had chilled out (which it didn't anyway). Of course that's the only reason you would ever turn off the music because it's so great, which makes me wonder how many other people discovered this? It isn't a CD DA track so it should work even if you are emulating a CD drive and don't have CD DA working, but I've never even tried turning CD music off even when doing that because I didn't see any point. The noises are a bit repetitive though.
The game featured its own soundtrack that was, I believe, remixed versions or tracks done in the style of Jeff Wayne's music. I think the music was even given the names of tracks from the album. When looking on the game discs there were 8 tracks you could find, 4 human tracks and 4 Martian ones.
I believe I have tried that too, but then again, maybe that was on my older PC wgich was running XP. I might give it a try sometime, just to make sure. I'll keep you posted, and thanks for your time! :)
@@cursedhawkins1305 I've already watched the Martian intro and the Martian commander in this intro told his superiors that he regarded the Humans as hideous creatures so I'm guessing that he said something like "Hideous creatures of Earth! From this day forward, this world is ours to rule and your race shall become cattle for us to feed on!".
I used to play this game, but after Windows 95 needed to get replaced by newer OS's I've never been able to run it anymore. How did you manage to get it to play? Or are you using and old PC with Win95 on it?
Thanks Shadow, but the thing is, it won't install at all. When i start the CD (1 and 2 bth the same result) I do get the popup menu which would let me install the game, but when I click it, the menu just disappears and nothing gets done...even with all kinds of options tried in Compatibility Mode...

So if this is British then why is there a picture of napoleon in the background in the war room?

ANYONE know the version of Horsell Common and the Heat Ray used in these cutscenes? It has a more military feel to it and I can't find it.

The version used in this cutscene is exclusive to that segment. I don't think you can find it anywhere else, unfortunately.

please someone offer advice. Trying to get this working on Windows 8 without luck. I did have a patched exe but have it no longer.
