Me and my friends flew from Dublin to London for the Brixton Academy show on this tour. It really was the best of times. Funnily enough they are playing in Trinity Collage this summer in Dublin. The original band members and all those cool friends were all Trinity students at the time we saw that Brixton show. We are all getting together for this awesome reunion. Jane's made rock cool again. Amazing band.
nice! i grew up in Dublin also and was into janes early like you. I got anything new and Californian at the Sound Cellar while my schoolmates were listening to the manchester bands and giving me hell. then they heard Jane's and said hold up this is actually reallly good
I also travelled from Dublin for this tour however rather than Brixton, I went to Leeds... The gig Perry calls out on this as being shit! Not to me - they were breathtaking although clearly pissed off about something. I decided to give Trinity a miss this year. After seeing them at Oxygen years ago decided I didn't want another out door gigs so going to Hamburg instead
By far one of the top 2 best 91 tapes. One of Perkins friends in LA showed me some unreleased pro shot stuff once but I doubt that will ever see the light of day.
@@miterbox7031 from what year and what venue is that unreleased pro shot footage is from? One of the best things the Jane’s camp could do is release a pro shot soundboard audio show that is 1990 or 1991 that is NOT Hollywood palladium of Milan, something the public has never seen.
I was a Dead Head in '91 (and still am) and only managed to hear about Jane's Addiction shortly before they broke up. Did not see them live, but started collecting their music and bootlegs. This video ranks up there with the best ones I've seen - like in the neighborhood of the Detroit '88 which a I bought in NYC at a bootleg store in '92. This band was really a peak in rock and roll history.
I saw them at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio a month after this and it was the most consequential show of my youth. Nothing changed me like that show. They were the greatest band in the world between 1989 to 1991.
I don't believe it! This is the DOWN IN THE FLAMES concert!! This is amazing! I've never been able to see this live before. I've only heard it and imagined them playing at some club in LA. I didn't know it was Nottingham. Watching Perkins is such a hypnotic thing to see.
Was at this show. Stood with my friend pretty much on our own at the front for Primus as nobody really knew who they were and they were just sensational. Stayed there for Janes and after getting several elbows in my face during the first up tempo song I beat a retreat to the back of the crowd to watch in peace - so that's me Perry Farrell says 'Try more tequila' to at 9:26 when he spotted me and my friend pushing our way back from the barriers through the crowd. Amazed that after 30 years my memory of that comment was as accurate as this video proved it to be! :)
I first seen them after hearing Nothing’s Shocking and I was off! They played a great gig in the states 🇺🇸 whereas Perry had to stand on crutches and they’d have still blown most bands out of the water 💦 This was before my own life started living on and off the road as an underground has been Rock Star myself lol 😂! I first saw JA in February 1989, and had never heard them before. I don't think I've ever had that much fun before or since, and I left that show as a true believer. Fortunately for me, they played in and around Central Florida a few more times before the first breakup. The last time I saw Jane's Addiction 1.0 was at the Orlando stop of the first Lollapalooza tour, and I could tell the wheels were starting to come off. They weren't as tight as they had been, and there was a palpable tension among the band members. They're still great on this show, so I don't know if what I experienced was an anomaly, but I could tell they were careening towards a breakup when I saw them at Lolla.
Thank for posting! I was at this gig... one of my friends got handed a backstage pass for the after-party, which she gave to me... i think the band/crew were a bit disappointed that none of the hot girls they’d given passes to showed up to the ‘party’, and instead it was just a bunch of geeky blokes hanging out in their hotel room!! :D
I was there, and it’s up there in my top 3 gigs. Props to Primus too who opened the show. I was devastated that a few months later it was all over. They’ve never really recaptured that initial magic they had the first time around.

thanks for posting this with the audio upgrade! fantastic. I saw them twice on the Ritual tour, last time was just before this show, Feb 1991 in Austin Tx. Just incredible live shows, crowd responding like a religious upheaval. So much fun.
I saw the show in Manchester a few days before this on March 5th 1991 with Primus supporting, awesome gig, both bands were at the height of their powers, Primus maybe still on the way up

Saw half of the UK dates on this tour. This one was easily the best of the ones I was at. Most memorable gig of the 90s for me. Came all the way back from Denmark to see them at Rock City again in 2005. Not a patch on this night. Thank god for downloading software in case this ever gets taken down. Been trying to find this footage for years.
Thanks for posting the sound is really clear. Some of my mates saw them at Newcastle Mayfair on this tour. I saw them at the Newcastle Riverside club in January 89 then at Rock City in 2004. I do remember the dry ice at the Riverside you couldn't see the band half the time, was only 4 quid for the hand written ticket which I still have, happy days!
They sound fantastic. Wish Dave’s guitar was a little higher at times, but overall this is really great quality, especially for the time and equipment used.
40 minutes - "anyone here from last night?" He was talking about Leeds University. He kept fiddling with the sound and I thought he was being a complete Prima Donna, even though I loved the band. Then I was at this gig and I realised why he was so pissed off. The sound at Leeds was dreadful. I went to the Hummingbird gig too which was either the next night or the night after that. It was pretty amazing too.
I am going to blow my own trumpet here too and say I was part of the reason why Jane's played this gig. They were due to play Leicester but the gig got cancelled due to tickets sales. I saw our Rock City DJ the same day in Fagins and suggested he get onto it to fix them up with a Rock City gig instead.
@@whssy Yes. If you hadn't been to any of the other gigs his constant fiddling with the sound equipment would have seemed really odd. However, if you had been to any of the other gigs, Leeds did sound really bad.
At this moment this band were the most vital band on the planet..
At this moment, everyone in the world should have been with us, feeling like we did...
Most intimidating, but brilliant gig I’ve ever been to! Riverside, Newcastle 1991!
Those 90s crowds/mosh pits with NO F’KN CELL PHONES. The last true concert generation

This is definitely one of the best 1991 bootlegs shot show of Jane’s
Just watched it all. It’s the longest and also the best quality audio and video from the 91 shows that I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Beautiful.

Wow this is a good one
Raw, unfiltered prime time Jane's. Well done. All others take note.
A rare live version of obvious…dope!
I love that song so much
I’ve loved three days for decades. And in this version Perry’s playing guitar to Dave’s lead. So awesome. This is Janes circa 92 at its finest.
Perry always plays the rythem guitar on that track.
