A time that can never be replicated. Life changing for me at the time. When Perry still had SUCH range. A high functioning addict and artist at that time. We all age (hopefully), grow and change thankfully but this right here was really something to see. Thankful to have seen them a few times back then.
@@pearlharbour3300I watched that show, too, to see if I wanted to catch the 2024 tour in the States. I am sooooo going. So much better than the tours 10-15 years ago. And both Eric and Dave will be there. Definitely going....plus, I love Love & Rockets.
This performance is a breathing piece of art. I keep coming back to it. It seems Perry had effects set up to project a specific mood. Were there fans pointed at them? They look like they’re floating, levitating even. Eric looks airy and ethereal - the combination of his slow gyrating moves, purple dreads, and uninhibited youthful energy. Dave is a quiet powerhouse. Behind his shades, a dark force lies in wait to zap lightning through his guitar strings when you least expect it. Stephen is probably not a person. He’s a collection of air molecules that are only capable of feeling unbridled joy. He makes the drums sound as bouncy and spacious as a xylophone. And the intonation and inflection in Perry’s vocals just blasts you through cosmic rings of angel dust. Not forgetting his id on full display in all its glory at 7:02. He conducts the orchestra and he knows it. Jane’s Addiction at this point in time weren’t a band. They were a glitch in the Anthropocene to disrupt the fabric of reality, so we can feel a mushroom cloud of the most potent of human emotions erupt from our toes and straight out of our brains.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
in my top 3 of bands that cant do no wrong by me...just raw, unfiltered, passionate, MEANINGFUL, deep, thought-provoking, FUN, serious, off-center, cant-miss, drop dead gorgeous, magical music. An all time great band...hands down
You're right Bro. It sux to have to say it bc they were my fav band at one time. I saw them during the Ritual Tour I think in April of 91' I think it was. It was crazy bc it was the first time we saw Perry when he cut off his dreads. He had a crew cut or Cesar type of cut, wife beater, those khaki type pants the Mexicano's used to wear, and he had a fedora type hat or Cuban type. I rememberbeing a little disappointed bc they didnt play 'Ted Just Admit it'. I boughg Porno For Pyros, but that was the end of my interest in anything they put out. After Eric A. left it just could never be the same. J.A. was one of those bands that just had the right mix of guys, at the right time and there was nothing even close to their sound or style at the time.@takecareofyourshoess
now here i am in 2024 watching this video from boston, wasn’t even born yet when janes was in their peak. i love reading comments on old performances and seeing posts like yours
Just perfect. Drums so good, bass lines nice and present the tone of a bass, guitar sound and selection of inversions and riffs off chords. Then there is Perry, his voice and that delay... Sublime, poetic and perfect character for the music. Truly inspiring. Without peer. Stupifiying.
i dated a girl for a couple months that was way out of my league,. she introduced me to them by playing their then new album, ritual, about a year before I saw them at the 91 palooza in Raleigh. fast forward 10-11 years when they got back together, i took a date to see them at the same venue. that girl is now my wife and mother of my 2 kids.

Dave Navarro was one of the best of the world in those days...he was so young and showing the most elegant and realy alternative...there is not any originality like this one any more (28 years period of rock if we dont take in count Mars Volta) the Jannes Addiction think and the Peppers of course
One Hot Minute, in my opinion, has become the best RHCP album since Uplift Mofo in no small part because of the creative infusion of Navarro's guitars. It kills me that the Peppers distance themselves from that project and don't play any of the bangers from it.

Yes!! It was like a religious experience for me and my friend. Best show of all shows I've ever seen. My friend saw them a year before in 1989? in Dallas and it was a total riot, people went completely out of control. Miss those days....
i feel so lucky to have seen jane's around this time. such an exciting band. saw them again this year just to get a little proustian shot of this electricity. i miss your old nose, perry.
Had a vhs bootleg of this Milan performance back in the day when vhs was still a thing… this is Jane’s at their absolute best. Dynamic, in sync, and electric. When they were ON, no band held a candle to them… they brought a brilliance to the stage that made an arena show feel as intimate as a dive bar.
I was first introduced to them in 1990 in my friend’s car sitting on 15 inch speakers instead of seats. On acid. The whole Habitual album. It was a journey.
they were the first of their kind and never will be another... the epitome of art and music and poetry and performance, raising a bar that 30 years later still hasnt even been close to being touched by anyone else

I just love them....so great..... just nothing ever sounded like this. nothing ever will. I compare them to no one as there is no reason. Its a different category that doesn't exist outside of itself.
Superb video quality! Something about this original lineup just hits different. One forgets how crucial Avery’s baselines are like the intro to coming down the mtn, 3 days, etc., etc. sofa king good!!! 👍
My introduction to Jane's Addiction happened in 1988 when my weird friend put in the "Triple X" cassette. "Whores" was the song that got me into Jane's Addiction... Loved the basd intro then the heavier guitar riff.

So ahead of their time in many ways. Such raw energy and power in their performance. Wow!
the Pixies & Janes addiction were phenomenal on stage around 1990
@BlueHopi144 Love the Pixies, too.
Ahead of their time implies that a time caught up to them eventually, which it never did.
Had a good friend that had all the Bootlegs of Jane’s. He took me to a show in 1988 and that changed me for the best
