Still got a bottle from back then, it's worth purchasing a vintage bottle scent-wise, it was done with different raw materials if compared with the new formulation, and the metallic accord + the Chanel aldehydes are much more pronounced. Still, the current formulation is great and worth buyng.

Very good. Agree completely, love Egoiste. Egoiste Platinum I definitely got the what's being called "metallic" smell (it's not metallic to me just a sharpish note that sticks out in the opening), which does fade and to me ends up as super high end sort of shaving creamish smell, as if you've used a spicy shaving cream and rinsed it off with hot water...the smell that radiates off your skin as you are leaving the bathroom. Chanel makes a lot of fantastic mens fragrances: Pour Monsieur, any of the Bleu d' Chanels, Anteus, the Allure line.

Great video... PE is one of my favorites, excellent sauce with great longevity. I have a 2023 and a vintage bottle, only difference I get is more pronounced aldehydes and oakmoss. For whatever it's worth, I have the spray deodorant too, purchased directly from Chanel, and it has two dents! 😂

as a middle schooler in 2002, Fierce was the first cologne I ever owned (a girl who liked me, gifted me a bottle of it).... As an adult now, I recently tried Platinum Egoiste and fell in love.. it reminded me alot of the 'sandalwood' shaving cream from Taylor of Old Bond Street..... pure, clean, mature gentleman

Several years ago I found vintage almost full bottle with square cap on Craiglist for 10$. This juice has phenomenal performance. Im talking about two little sprays on my neck last me whole day with unstoppable projection. I compared it with latest batch and it’s like men’s cologne vs teenage body spray.
I planned on getting this because i like to wear colognes that not everyone is wearing sometimes. It a classic from my ear considering Im 49 years old and i loved the 90's and just about everything about it. Anyway your review gave me the extra persuasion to still get. I'm also from Jersey as well but not from South Jersey. Thanks

When I don't wear KOUROS, I usually take Lauder for men or recently also Le Sel d'Issey, which smells like the old shower gels (Germany) from the early 00s and 90s

One of my least favorite fragrances lol. That sour metallic note basically felt like the Sauvage of its era. Any time I smell this, I think of some cheesy dude with gelled tips, in a mall. Ugh.

Never tried Chanel's Platinum Egoiste, BUT I own Armaf's Legesi which is supposedly a really good clone of it. Armaf's Legesi is $24.99, and it really is undeniably the absolute balls my friend. Highly recommend. Chanel's Platinum Egoiste was the rapper Biggie's signature scent. This stuff is for the men, a boss.👍🧼💈🇺🇸😎
I agree, Legesi is great, but to my nose, it lacks the main theme of the original: the signature Chanel aldehydes and that unique sharp metallic accord. But Legesi in the air smells quite similar to PE, and it has it's own vibe in the drydown that I really enjoy, reminds me of a high quality shaving foam. A true bang for buck fragrance.
@@BAGHEERAPROSPER High-quality shaving foam, that's exactly it. It smells cheap and high-quality at the same time. I'm not really a fan of it. Even though it's quite similar in the air, it makes a HUGE difference. I have Legesi in my collection because I loved Platinum Egoisté when I tested it in the store, thought I could safe some money lol but they're just not the same. The creaminess of it is kinda nauseating and that's why I rarely use it. I still gave it so many chances tho, that's how good the original was. And keep in mind, I'm not a "fraghead" but I can still tell the difference!

Solid take. On my skin it always came off as a geranium heavy GIT with a barbershop touch. Still think it's great though.

I love the original, legit love it. But this one is the closest thing to smelling like hairspray, and that is def not smth i want to smell like it.
