3 Months use of SonicPad on 3 Creality printers. One device powers an updated Ender 3V2 with Sprite Pro upgrade, Ender 3 S1 stock, another Pad controls an Ender 5 Plus with only Modification is Micro Swiss NG Extruder/Hotend. My experience: - Upgrading SonicPad firmware, forces you to do the entire installation all over again including Resonance, what a pain - Running multiple printers (like 2) where you have webcams- only supports one. I talked to Creality on this- future update potentially at end of Dec - so far no release - Constant issues disconnecting to MoonRaker even though I have a Mesh system in the same room and no issues with any other devices; I have given all data to Creality- no response, their support is basically horrible IMHO - After a few weeks of running multiple printers, one of the USB ports started arcing and took out the mainboard on Ender 3 V2, it went into thermal runaway. Both SonicPad and board had to be replaced- it is now back and running. Issue? No clue and Creality has not responded to me going on two weeks. - Setting up the printer.cfg took trial and error on the Ender V2 with supported Sprite Pro upgrade. I talked to Creality about this and they only suggested I change the rotations for the sprite extruder-however, it turned out to be much more. The mesh didn't work properly, bed limits and various other settings had to be changed- some by trial and error to get it working without errors- but I eventually did. Positives: Nice screen, nice concept, performance is good, but feels much like a 1.0 product to be honest. Due to reliability, I have one printer still running Marlin till I see that it is stable. The disconnects are a real problem and I have seen others with similar issues- I think code needs to be tweaked to be more resilient. That said, with all the time and effort invested in this project to get what maybe 160mm/sec (although I pushed the S1 over 250--but only practical for basic "box" like prints so far, I would have been far further ahead to just buy the Bambu P1P even though it is new and somewhat unproven at this point. Ultimately, I believe it is a personal decision, but to do advanced filaments, and X1C would be hard to beat. In the meantime, I will have to continue to put that WhamBam box around my S1 which is a great product, but another step... Hope this info helps someone. And,, thank you to Modbot for continuing to product great content.
Yeah scamality sucks and their pad sucks support even more suck. I listened to this looser on this channel and got that garbage of the pad. Should have gotten another rpi. I get errors mid print, and scamality tells me I need to check my printer and other hardware, and I'm trying to explain to them that when I use my set up with rpi ( same printer usb cable config file gcode file) rpi gives no errors and does not stop. Pad does.
Is there a reason why you chose the Sonic Pad over going with your own solution? I'm sure everyone has an old laptop or two collecting dust. I guess Android is also a possibility now? I'm not at all saying that you got what your deserved and I think it's bs that they're comfortable releasing beta versions. I guess I just want to know for myself if I'm missing out on anything by not getting the Sonic Pad, since it's priced very fairly and you do get a lot for your money.
I got the sonic pad after watching your first video. Before it arrived, I had to replace my Ender 3 board and used an SKR mini E3 V3. I was concerned about getting the Pad to work with it, but after a little while of messing with it and troubleshooting, I now have it working. I really like the Sonic Pad. That and the Sprite Extruder Pro are the best upgrades I've done to my printer.
@adam lindsay I dow loaded the kipper firmware from Biggreetech and instead. Used a generic printer.cfg file and made changes until I got everything working.
@Rights dont come with Permits ignorant much? Stupid too? The Pad works great for people with even the smallest amount of a brain. I guess you even lack that small amount.
I have contacted their support and have suggested the following... Perhaps if it comes from someone like you it would hold more weight.... 1. More permissions while in a SSH session. (We all are soooo waiting for this) 2. When doing probe offset during setup increments of .001 needs to be added. Available options should be .001, .005, .01, 1, 5 mm (.001 is available as a live adjustment while a print is running.) 3. A M600 Macro to do filament color changes, also let us be able to use sonic pad to purge more & resume print. 4. Placement of "OK" button during z-offset calibration should be moved further to the right. It is very easy to tap it by accident, then there is no way to cancel if it is accidentally tapped & probe calibration process has to be restarted. (I've hit it 3 times by accident allready) 5. After doing a resonance test on the X axis the Z axis needs to be raised atleast 20-50mm to allow more room to affix the accelerometer in the center of the bed as instructed. Or you could just set the Z axis height higher before doing a X axis resonance test. 6. Directories made from fluid/mainsail need to be accessible from the sonic pad itself!!! Sonic pad will not see any directories made from within fluidd or mainsail. There is no way to organize gcode files in folders and access them from the sonicpad itself. 7. Camera view on sonic pad should reflect options selected in fluidd/mainsail. I.E in fluidd I have my camera flipped horizontally and vertically. The view on the sonic pad shows my camera upside down. 8. More camera control. I have a logitech c920 it is capable of 30 fps at 1920x1080. I never get more than 10 fps on the stream using the adaptive setting in camera options in moonraker. If the webcam.txt file from octoprint is going to be utilized on your platform, it should reflect the settings there in the USB camera area. 9. Speed of ethernet port seems capped... Very slow upload speeds from cura or prusa slicer vs my rpi4 octoprint setup. Let the full gigabit bandwidth of the port be utilized. 10. I plan on upgrading v2's older DD extruder to the sprite pro, They should make a option during initial setup if you are using stock extruder or using a sprite (mainly looking for good offsets for probe) Just thought about this... 11. All future FW updates HAVE to retain current config file settings... I have atleast 20 different pressure advance settings for my various spools... I DO NOT want to have to print and re-measure everything....
Thanks for your updated review of the sonic pad, well done once again. One tutorial I would like to see is how to connect 4 printers to the sonic pad. I have been trying and my best to date is 3 because USB 2 is used to make the flash bin file for the printer and with a non Creality printer, BTT SKR Mini E3V3, USB 2 is needed to load the printer.cfg file. I have not figured out how to load the file and be connected to USB2 at the same time. Yep I know it's and IO error on my part but a little direction would be great if you have a moment. Keep up the great work. Doc'
Thank you for covering this again. I’ve been hesitant about buying this product, but now I think I’ll go ahead and get it. One other thing. I noticed that another watcher said you need to have better lighting in your studio. I think it’s just right myself. You don’t need to blind yourself on my account.
As I just got the Ender 3 S1 Pro I am looking into eventually getting the Sonicpad to help spice up my printing in the future. Thanks for this and the previous review.
Figured Id share my experience here: I've had mine for about 3 months too, but I'm still 50/50 on it. I'm impressed with the speeds and control I'm getting, but I strongly dislike the setup. I hit one snag thats really throwing me off and I'm curious if you had this issue too. Ran two printers, E3PV2 and CR-10V3. For some reason, the v3 would pause after each layer. Only happens when there is more than 1 printer operating on it. I also dislike how there's no option to flash the firmware back as "easily" as it is to put klipper on. Its not a bad toy, but it definitely feels like another case of customers supporting customers because "Creality". Thanks for the new info on the pad, here's hoping this thing improves into something even more impressive than it is now.
you can run klipper from a laptop and control as many printers as it can handle, which is what this unit does but at lower spec then the average laptop but more convenient, so maybe worth a try to see if your getting the same issues with a computer solution instead. I doubt its a hardware limitation of the unit though, maybe some confuration setting, or maybe an issue with the firmware flashed on the v3 EDIT : video on installing klipper onto laptop th-cam.com/video/Ib1Dd3rIE2I/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ModBot
I purchased one of these out of the gate when they came out and wasnt impressed. Since then its been collecting dust but this video makes me want to give it another shot esp now that it supports more than one printer!
I only got a 3d printer 5 months back (ender s1 pro) as on day it had a great saving and had a bonus discount from a guy talking with online, about getting one. Saved so much - got the sonic pad that was on offer too. I used it stock for first few weeks and then with the sonic pad = WOW - what a difference the pad made. Now I've dipped my toe in - I really need to get the model creation side more developed. And when I have, then time to get a Bambu Lab A1 and see where that goes from there..
With the option for multi printers, I’d like to see a copy mode or mirror mode so you can print multi prints of the same stl. A lot like a dual printer hazed printer.
Isn't it the same than starting the same stl on 2 machines separately?! For copy mode it should be exactly the same machines with the same filament and temperatures and when a clog happens on one of them: in copy mode both should stop, in managing 2 printers: only one should stop.
The biggest improvement I'd like is consistency and reliability. My pad repeatedly forget my network and password which makes using the online interface an absolute chore at times.
Interesting, I havent experienced any network issues with mine. It seems like they were focused on adding printers and features with these past updates. Would be nice to see them work on optimization next.
@@ModBotArmy it's a daily battle for me, even uploads to the pad happen at kB/s speeds when my network is definitely much more capable than that and the pad is in the room below my printer space. Very frustrating. Also, as has been noted on the Facebook group, have a timelapse camera connected increases likelihood of Webhooks request errors which will kill your print dead - not ideal!
1.They need to add an auto power off after print is done. 2. They need to add print resume after a power loss. 3. They need to add an actual shut printer off button, instead of the ridiculous control and led switch way of doing things. But, it is still a must have device.
I used the sonic pad on 2 s1 pros (until i sent one printer back) but i never really had a hiccup UNTIL for some reason Cura was writing gcode a little wonky. I ended up adding a g92 e0 in a different place on the start gcode to fix my problem. The prints would work fine for the first print, then when youd go to start a second print, itd retract all of my filament out of the top of the extruder while it was trying to do the first purge line. My work around for awhile was just restarting klipper between each print, but it was a headache to figure out for sure
Jesus christ, you people. THINK WITH YOUR HEAD. This man works hard, to bring all this information for Freakin FREE to all of us..He is not freakin reviewing LIGHTING in his videos.. Instead of complaining, And miss judging him .THANK HIM ...
After reading so many negative comments I felt like I needed to weigh in on the positive time I've had with mine. Combined with a MS NG Extruder I added over the holidays, my Ender 3 V2 is now running like a dream. I'm printing terrain for miniature war gaming and the quality at the speed I'm getting looks totally fine next to my resin minis. In fact I'm now thinking I want to sell my Anycubic Kobra Max to get a 5+ so I can run it off the pad as well. Having to setup printers again after the firmware update is a pain, but hopefully that can be avoided in the future? Or it becomes a case of, does this new update add anything worth going through the hassle?
I suppose my comment didn't touch on the Sonic Pad as much as my overall situation, but the SP did what it's supposed to for me. It let me get Klipper running on my machine easily, let me have input shaping and pressure advance setup easily, lets me monitor and send prints remotely (wired networking since wi-fi in general just sucks for reliability). So yeah, a thumbs up from me, it could all be done manually with other alternatives and more time spent, but this made it simple for me.
I have a cr-10 smart pro and i waited until they updated the sonic pad to work with my machine. I got the sonic pad last month and first problem was it had old firmware and my machine wasn't listed on the sonic pad and no options to update the sonic pad through wifi, i updated it manually with a usb stick. After the update there are 2 cr-10 smart pros listed so i opened my machine and found i have the 103 chip so i selected that in the sonic pad, but that's as far as i got with the sonic pad because after the flash the sonic pad just won't connect with my machine and its just sitting in the garage collecting dust
UPDATE: After watching this video this morning i started messing around with the sonic pad again and made sure my printer firmware is up to date and the sonic pad still wouldn't connect to the printer. It turns out that trying to flash the cr-10 smart pro with a usb drive as per the instructions does not work and what i did was after copying the bin file onto the usb drive from the sonic pad, i than put the usb drive into the computer and copied the bin file to a sd card and inserted the sd card into the printer, turned it on and the sonic pad connected instantly. Thats a pretty big screw up on creality's part, if its not in the manual or telling you on the sonic pad then they should at least put it on their website
Question: Seen many videos here on TH-cam on the Sonic Pad device, but I have not seen any info on whether this device can do Purging filament when changing out filaments when printing your projects/3d models ??
No, filament change with an extruder which you cannot manually move doesn't work. There ist no load/unload macros on the pad. You have to implement them in the config yourself. I am struggelng with this also...
Can you share your Pico ADXL setup/build? I have been working on one to interface with my Pi3b+ and Ender 6, but extra resource material is always helpful!
Hey Daniel! +ModBot Whats the speed difference to your Voron Switchwire or even your Bambu Lab P1P?! And is the quality comparable? p.s. I would love to see Klipper or that Sonic Pad to be working with that Sovol SV 4 IDEX! An dual extruder printer with double the speed? of an Ender 3 and the ability to print 2 colors without too much waste would be a good alternative to an AMS system (P1P)!
One thing I can't seem to find ANYWHERE yet is a good tutorial on setting up the sonic pad with a PC app of some sort. I see a lot of people using it, but no instructables on how to get there for those not already immersed in that stuff. The last thread I saw in a forum about started talking about "all you have to do is open ports and forward and vpn and...and... " (lots of tech garble). Any chance you could do a walkthrough? Even in your video here... "Just type in the sonic pad's IP address then add some code..." Maybe dumb it down Barney style? Firstly, where do you find the pad's IP address in the first place?
Hi Great content as usual. I have one printer on Pi and a stock S1 using Sonic Pad [flash deal on Alli] I have had no problems really. The only thing is. do you know how to shut down if you are just using Pad. You can do it in UI but I can't find it on pad. I am probably missing it
Great info here! Quick question: if I update my ender 3 s1 to handle higher nozzle temperatures, can I use the sonic pad to set the new max temp? You mentioned it quickly in the video, but is it as easy as just typing in a new value?
hi there, I need help, I am new to 3D printing, I ordered ender 3 V2 , the shipment reached to me with no Display module,, I jut sent the store about that. I want to know if I can use the PC instead of the display module
Hi just got a Creality Sonic Pad for my Ender 3 Max but going through the config files to set it up there's only the set up for the v4.2.2 board with no BL Touch my ender 3 Max as the v4.2.7 with BL Touch some upgrades I did I'm wondering if Creality is going to update the sonic pad with the V4.2.7 version, so basically I'm stuck with this pad I can't use .
Idea for a new video: Ender 3 with Marlin 2.1.2. Do the new input shaping following their instructions and test print file. I tried it, but I my print looked exactly the same from the bottom on the top.
The newest firmware update to allow multiple printers messed my sonicpad up to where now every time it is turned off and back on it makes me go through the initial setup process. Very frustrating. Sent the log files to creality now playing the waiting game while they figure out what’s going on…
In the latest firmware update I still have issues with it commenting out the z-offset after it updated the printer.cfg and restarts. it's been doing that for the last 2 updates. That prevents the printer form connecting. I have to manually remove the # before the Z Offset value and save/restart. Not sure why they do that for my Ender 5 Pro w/ 4.2.7+BLT+FS
My sonic pad was working well for a long time but recently I can't connect to my printer I have tried everything any ideas let me know I'm just about done with all of it
My camera(Anker c300) stopped working after i updated to this version. Any insights on how to get it working again? It shows connected on Pad, but no video output.
Question for the group....I've decided this Sonic Pad is not for me. I have tried it on my Ender 5+ and it has been more trouble than I want to deal with. However....i can't seem to be able to flash my board back to original firmware. Pronterface won't communicate now? Have I nuked my printer?
After a few weeks of use and several failed prints I decided it wasn't for me If it's plugged in to a surge it will shutdown over any little thing like my filament dryer turning on, also if you adjust any settings it will throw a error it seems like it's hard core locked, then every now and again it will disconnect for no reason I already had octoprint on the printer and it was great went to sp not so reliable after that. So i didn't want to be stuck with a unusable tablet after a few months so I returned it.
Thing about this thing especially in Canada is it is basically the price of an ender 3. Just not worth it you may as well take that money and invest in a better printer that is way cheaper to add klipper too
Been looking to this for a while now. But waited for it to be compatible with my 5 plus that runs a BTT skr mini 3 v3. Is that compatible with the atmega2560 version showed at 0:28 in here?
I've a 5 plus as well and wanted to get printing at fast speeds. Funny thing is I've been doing so testing and I can get my machine which is completely stock running at 150mm/s so I'm not even sure the pad is worth it. I've also seen people saying they're having problems with pad so it seems like leaving everything stock is the way to go.
Since the Dec update my cameras no longer show a picture, but says they are connected. My E3S1P now prints flawlessly until it throws an overstepping error, kills the print, and resets the Sonic Pad. I've tried everything I can think of and Creality wont respond. To top it off I went back to stock firmware but Creality only has the Laser/FDM firmware on their site requiring a display update and main. SIDI. When I power up the screen flashes the start screen with Laser and FDM buttons for about 10 milliseconds then goes back to Creality splash screen and completely frozen. My S1P is dead. SMH
I understand the Sonic pad will handle up to 4 printers, or 3 printers and 1 cam or 2 printers and 2 cams? Do you know if a USB hub can be used to handle maybe 4 printers and 4 cams?
@@bobbydigital8454 I upgraded my board to the 4.2.7 a while ago, and I'm happy with it, but I'm interested in the possibilities of adding the Sonic Pad. I just don't want to have to wait for Creality to release the Ender 3 v1 configuration, that might be a while, if ever.
I updated mine to the new software and totally messed up my ender 3 s1 pro. Tried to do PID tune on my bed and it completes it reboots and gives me a abnormal heated bed error and freezes everything.
I just tried to install a webcam today. Whenever I start a print, I get a few layers in, and the Pad crashes, making the entire print stop. Error says: "MCU shutdown; Stepper too far in past." No idea what's going on there, but unplugging the webcam fixes the issue.
Thanks for the vídeo! But did anyone had Experience using sonic pad with older ender 3 of ender 3 neo? If not, should I expect major difficulties using the pad with such machines?
Looks like an awesome product, and I was hoping to use it on my pro 2 (SKR board, now sprite hotend, replaced fans, etc etc) - however, I'll stay away from all Creality products on principle since their solution to an engineering mistake on part compatibility from their part is just to offer a $5-10-15-... coupon on their store. I enjoy tinkering, modding, learning and fixing things - which fits perfect in most of the Creality product stack... but their Customer Service is oblivious. I think it's great that they've adjusted the pad that you can add pretty much anything now!
Has anyone installed one on a stock Ender 5 Plus? I'm wondering how fast it can print. I'd love to hear from from hand users about your experience with the pad.
Anyone else getting real slow wifi transfer speed on the Sonic Pad? Sending .gcode file to sonic pad at around 20-500 kb/s is a pain. The pad is brand new, had the same issue with both old and new firmware.
I noticed slow xfer speeds aswell however I am using the ethernet (it is a gigabit port) connection too. I think they have capped off or choked for what ever reason.
Makes it easier to run klipper. I was struggling to get klipper up and running on my pi. I'm relatively new to 3d printing and I'm not very tech savvy. The sonic pad makes the process more or less plug and play.
Are you talking about the footage of me talking or the unit? The funny thing is I just majorly upgraded lighting. It is nowhere near as bright as it can get. I also got a new cam in so I will play around with this. :)
@@ModBotArmy - The footage of you talking and showing items on your bench always looks too dark. It's something I've meant to comment on in the past. It's a minor criticism, you've got a great channel, but I think improved lighting would be a nice upgrade for 2023. HTH
@@SimonCoates I appreciate the feedback. I have 4 large panels and a cob light in here to play so I will need to adjust them to make sure things are lit better. In some older videos I noticed I was blown out and that may have caused me to lower lights too much. It may take a few videos to get improvements on but I will definitely be working on it. Have a great weekend!
Light is fine. Easy on the eyes. We don’t need to see details of anything so more light is not gonna help on making the videos (and especially the message you’re conveying) any better.
Silly question, can the machine settings be adjusted with the sonic pad, so we can take advantage of all metal hot ends or calibrate esteps for different extruders?
shouldn't be an issue for the hot ends. esteps might want to setup in the browser ui but i've never dealt with that but i know the more advanced extruder options are in there that i don't remember seeing on the pad UI.
It's confusing at first coming from using Marlin, but actually very simple once you learn how it works. I use my computer logged into the Pad wirelessly to make all my changes. You simply open the printer.cfg file and you can quickly change the esteps, called rotation distance in klipper and you'll have to look up how to calculate it but the info is easy to come by. You can quickly edit probe offsets, bed size, bl-touch probe points etc. Max nozzle temp etc. When done simply hit save and reboot and you're done. No compiling of firmware and re installing.
I would WARN EVERYONE WHO SEE"S THIS VIDEO: IF YOU HAVE UPGRADED YOU PRINTER TO AN SKR MINI E3V3 THE SONIC PAD DOES NOT SUPPORT THE STM32G SERIES CHIPS wasted 160 bucks or im left waiting for creality to push an update that includes this series chip. KLIPPER does support this MCU... what gives creality. For those who are in a similar boat, i will try flashing the SKR e3v3 with firmware i make on a PI and see if I can get the Sonic pad to see it by loading the CFG config manually after the MCU is flashed with klipper off the pi. Will update later tonight Update it will work a .bin file if you write it on a pi and push it via sd. The pad will not be able to write the .bin but will work once you flash the skr board using the pin for do you make config for the skr
For me this is still a Creality only device with way to many unnecessary problems seemingly created by Creality themselves. Way too much money for a FUNKY raspberry PI. These new control pads seem to create more uncertainty than anything else. You can only use Creality sensors that NO ONE has available and will only work with certain programs and software without hacking the device. NOT FOR ME! If I still have to go through all of that after buying this so called SONIC PAD for $150.00. I will just use my Raspberry PI and save the money for a monster printhead that will handle the the accelerated speeds and flow. Thanks for the knowledge. This is just a major waste of money unless you run a CREALITY print farm. I don't.
There have been some users having problems with some webcams no longer working, timelapse not working at all, and other random problems. Take a look at r/CrealitySonicPad for some of the issues.
Got the sonic pad for my V2 with Sprite direct drive and cr touch.... There is no configuration for this set up ... NOBODY KNOWS A CONFIG FOR THIS SETUP!!!! Please creality, PLEADSE!!!! Make a config for this set up!!!!!!!
Why would you want a camera plugged into the pad if you can control the printer on wireless? Is the camera not meant to monitor the print? How do you check on a print if you're not near it?
what is the point of getting a locked down system for klipperizing yos printer when you can get pi and do it yoself? Then people get root acces and muck up their system and bitch to creality for bad product that they cant get support on.
This is why Creality is such a hated on company. It boggles the mind that they would pour all those resources and hundreds of R&D hours, just to make sure to lock down as much of an open source firmware as possible. Who at Creality has so huge self-esteem issues to think that this is ok?
The sonic pad sucks dong, you be had mine for a couple of months and the update has only made it worse. Super unreliable and I’m trying to get a refund
@@ModBotArmy my touch screen won’t open any of the tabs/ buttons and half the time it shows connect printer on the pad while it can be fully controlled on the webUI without issue, I’m almost certain it’s not due to being a faulty unit as there are several other people on the Facebook group who have a range of issues like MCU errors and web hook errors, it’s definitely a super buggy product for a reasonably large percentage of users, creality told me to open up the pad and try fixing the screen myself
It seems the sonic pad is great unless it's not. If you have a printer it claims to support, but actually doesn't, you'll be in for a nightmare. They obviously didn't test the sonic pad on all of the printers they claim it supports, like the cr-10 series. It will ignore autoleveling and scrape the heck out of your built plate. That was a first for me after printing for 3 years. Never had the issues running the original firmware. Even after doing a factory reset and carefully going through every step and tweaking with as much exactness as possible, it still trashes most prints. I have to set the z offset to a ridiculous 3.5 just to keep it from scraping, even immediately after going through the auto leveling and z procedures. They clearly didn't test this thing on all of the printers it "supports".
My experience:
- Upgrading SonicPad firmware, forces you to do the entire installation all over again including Resonance, what a pain

- After a few weeks of running multiple printers, one of the USB ports started arcing and took out the mainboard on Ender 3 V2, it went into thermal runaway.

1. More permissions while in a SSH session. (We all are soooo waiting for this)
2. When doing probe offset during setup increments of .001 needs to be added. Available options should be .001, .005, .01, 1, 5 mm (.001 is available as a live adjustment while a print is running.)
(I've hit it 3 times by accident allready)
10. I plan on upgrading v2's older DD extruder to the sprite pro, They should make a option during initial setup if you are using stock extruder or using a sprite (mainly looking for good offsets for probe)
Just thought about this...

I like the dimmer light when we are watching you. Brighter light when you show parts or certain items would be nice.
Loving your content so far!
I find my one is awful, touchscreens completely stopped working for me
I purchased one of these out of the gate when they came out and wasnt impressed.
Can't say this surprises me, considering all Creality makes is junk.
@@theglowcloud2215 or perhaps its you that doesn't know how to use it. Mine has been faultless. So its not 'ALL JUNK' is it.
Go wired, adding many wireless devices in your house isnt healthy anyways
1.They need to add an auto power off after print is done. 2. They need to add print resume after a power loss. 3. They need to add an actual shut printer off button, instead of the ridiculous control and led switch way of doing things. But, it is still a must have device.
The pad is garbage
I listened to this biased looser and regret it .
I had no idea i can choose between Fluidd and Mainsail lol, thanks
I used the sonic pad on 2 s1 pros (until i sent one printer back) but i never really had a hiccup UNTIL for some reason Cura was writing gcode a little wonky. I ended up adding a g92 e0 in a different place on the start gcode to fix my problem. The prints would work fine for the first print, then when youd go to start a second print, itd retract all of my filament out of the top of the extruder while it was trying to do the first purge line. My work around for awhile was just restarting klipper between each print, but it was a headache to figure out for sure
That's a klipper issue. I have a E0 in my cura start code for the same reason.
Jesus christ, you people. THINK WITH YOUR HEAD. This man works hard, to bring all this information for Freakin FREE to all of us..He is not freakin reviewing LIGHTING in his videos.. Instead of complaining, And miss judging him .THANK HIM ...
There was an update to my Pad last week just a FYI that added some good things like power fail recovery
This is sick. I need to go ahead and invest in one.
Consider a video showing multiple printer use. For $170 I'd want to use the one controller for both my EV2's at the same time.
Hey Daniel! +ModBot
Whats the speed difference to your Voron Switchwire or even your Bambu Lab P1P?!
😳 The bed graph at 2:32
Will you be making any video on installing obico now that the sonic pad has released root access? Thanks
Awesomeness! Thank for being a beta tester lol
Please do future followups at 6 months and so on.
"Just type in the sonic pad's IP address then add some code..."
Maybe dumb it down Barney style? Firstly, where do you find the pad's IP address in the first place?
Tangent question:
What printing speed can you achieve with the Ender 5 S1 using the Sonic Pad?
I can't find a straight answer
I see you're getting more into the Linux work.
Hi Great content as usual.
I have one printer on Pi and a stock S1 using Sonic Pad [flash deal on Alli] I have had no problems really. The only thing is. do you know how to shut down if you are just using Pad. You can do it in UI but I can't find it on pad. I am probably missing it
Any plans to do a follow on update regarding the use of Debian and Mainline Klipper on the Sonic Pad?
Great info here! Quick question: if I update my ender 3 s1 to handle higher nozzle temperatures, can I use the sonic pad to set the new max temp?
You mentioned it quickly in the video, but is it as easy as just typing in a new value?
You would need the upgraded heater and thermistor that comes in the high temp kit, but yes its just a couple of keystrokes in the config
does it have some kind of cloud monitoring, a way to use a webcam and check on it from the network (not local network, cloud)
hi there,
I need help,
I am new to 3D printing, I ordered ender 3 V2 , the shipment reached to me with no Display module,, I jut sent the store about that.
Will it allow you to program custom direct drive extruder with hotend like hermera or biqu v2 Revo?
Idea for a new video: Ender 3 with Marlin 2.1.2. Do the new input shaping following their instructions and test print file. I tried it, but I my print looked exactly the same from the bottom on the top.
Does the newer updates of Sonic Pad allow in print, Object exclusion? I have not been able to find out what release of Klipper it uses.
my man!
The newest firmware update to allow multiple printers messed my sonicpad up to where now every time it is turned off and back on it makes me go through the initial setup process. Very frustrating. Sent the log files to creality now playing the waiting game while they figure out what’s going on…
Mines messed up as well
@@jamieclarke321 i dont understand why they dont have a way for us to manually flash back to a previous firmware or something
@@alexellistattoofpv yea mine definitely ran better on the previous firmware
In the latest firmware update I still have issues with it commenting out the z-offset after it updated the printer.cfg and restarts. it's been doing that for the last 2 updates. That prevents the printer form connecting. I have to manually remove the # before the Z Offset value and save/restart. Not sure why they do that for my Ender 5 Pro w/ 4.2.7+BLT+FS
My sonic pad was working well for a long time but recently I can't connect to my printer I have tried everything any ideas let me know I'm just about done with all of it
Idk how to put the accelerometer on my ender 5 s1 there was zero instructions for it on the ender 5 s1 so do I not need it ?
My camera(Anker c300) stopped working after i updated to this version. Any insights on how to get it working again? It shows connected on Pad, but no video output.
Question for the group....I've decided this Sonic Pad is not for me. I have tried it on my Ender 5+ and it has been more trouble than I want to deal with. However....i can't seem to be able to flash my board back to original firmware. Pronterface won't communicate now? Have I nuked my printer?
Could it support mosaic palette 2s color mixer ? ?
They say i need a hub, but there are no hubs anymore!
🤔
Hello, Just a quick question, are you running your sv06 with the sonic pad? If you are where did get the cfg file? Thanks in advance.
Does the sonic pad work for CR10S Pro? I haven't found anything to say it does.
I have a belt mod in my ender, is possible using the sonic pad in it?
After a few weeks of use and several failed prints I decided it wasn't for me If it's plugged in to a surge it will shutdown over any little thing like my filament dryer turning on, also if you adjust any settings it will throw a error it seems like it's hard core locked, then every now and again it will disconnect for no reason I already had octoprint on the printer and it was great went to sp not so reliable after that. So i didn't want to be stuck with a unusable tablet after a few months so I returned it.
Is your accelerometer on the end of the cable. I just found mine there and thought about yours
@@stinkyham9050Can you elaborate on how you are achieving these speeds? I have a 5 plus but currently run between 70-80mm/s
Thank you for your video. It really help. But i would really like for creality to had on the sonic pad the ender 7 with bltouch
I have two printers, but I cannot get the second cam working. I am on the January Update btw.
Can I manually configure the Sonic to control my Ender 3 V1? I'm a newby at all this 3d printing.
Had the same idea. Hoping an upgrade to a 4.2.7 board will do the trick
@@TruckerGerry I'm going to try the installation with the V2 setup. Can report back if it works
@@TruckerGerry It worked without any issues, now I just have to learn to use Klipper and make faster print profiles.
@@bobbydigital8454 Thanks for the update, I'll be getting it for my Ender 3
Does this work with the basic ender 3 printer?
I like to see an E-steps adjustment in the option
can we print remotely off Creality cloud?
I updated mine to the new software and totally messed up my ender 3 s1 pro. Tried to do PID tune on my bed and it completes it reboots and gives me a abnormal heated bed error and freezes everything.
Will the Laser head still work with the Sonic Pad?
@ModBot could you try using a android TV box loaded with linux and run klipper there? I would be interested to see if it is possible to run it
what is the difference between this and raspberry + screen?
Also why does the sonic pad have wicked bed mesh leveling
Can I use this for printers like Prusa?
yup, im sure there are videos out there doing exactly this.
I would like smart plug support, Ie Wemo plugs, etc.
If it is running an 8 bit board you are going to have issue. Those cannot be flashed over sd card. The neo is new and should have no issue.
can anyone confirm if this works with older v1 boards from older enders and cr series prints?
I'd love to hear from from hand users about your experience with the pad.
does anyone know if the 4 printers all have to be creality
Anyone else getting real slow wifi transfer speed on the Sonic Pad? Sending .gcode file to sonic pad at around 20-500 kb/s is a pain. The pad is brand new, had the same issue with both old and new firmware.
I noticed slow xfer speeds aswell however I am using the ethernet (it is a gigabit port) connection too. I think they have capped off or choked for what ever reason.
For a newbie with no experience using the sonic pad, can anyone share the top 1-2 benefits of getting one?
Makes it easier to run klipper. I was struggling to get klipper up and running on my pi. I'm relatively new to 3d printing and I'm not very tech savvy. The sonic pad makes the process more or less plug and play.
can I use this on the cr-7?
Please get some lighting. I'm loving your content but I think your studio shots would be much improved with better studio lighting.
Send home the money, I bet he would be happy to have more lights.
No compiling of firmware and re installing.
how do i install runout sensor on sonic pad
The Next Layer recently showed 4 cams plugged into a usb hub
well since they rip everything off, i can see how they would want to lock it so other companies have a hard time ripping them off
Sooooo true.... The webcam.txt file they are using is the exact same one from octoprint.
It would be nice to let us use our TH3D Studio ezabl with it
Me no smart. Still don't understand what is the sonic pad for.
I would WARN EVERYONE WHO SEE"S THIS VIDEO: IF YOU HAVE UPGRADED YOU PRINTER TO AN SKR MINI E3V3 THE SONIC PAD DOES NOT SUPPORT THE STM32G SERIES CHIPS
wasted 160 bucks or im left waiting for creality to push an update that includes this series chip.
Will update later tonight
Update it will work a .bin file if you write it on a pi and push it via sd.
I don't.
Is anyone one else having the problem where the sonic pads auto level would just cause the nozzle to crash into the conner of the bed.

Damn costs $300 in my country
Oof yeah, that is too much.
It still dosn't beat a rpi.
Wait 4 printers and 1 cam, how? I was told 4 printers only.
The sonic pad sucks dong, you be had mine for a couple of months and the update has only made it worse. Super unreliable and I’m trying to get a refund
What issues have you had? Is it just a faulty unit?
