@@PassionWagonYT I'm even more hyped now with the R.E.V.O announcement. Gonna jump right into it to be as sweaty as possible at this game when VF6 drops 🤣
I'm there with ya bud. I recently went back to playing VF5 Ultimate Showdown again after wasting my time with Tekken 8, and it was a huge breath of fresh air.
the backlash towards Tekken 8 is sooo crazy and genuinely disturbing and befuddling. When it came out it was heaped with praise and now it’s shit on, and like you said in 6 months or a year it will be fine again. It’s craziness
EXACTLY! Everybody loved it for a while and then the next day it was the worst thing ever. The change was so abrupt it's annoying. And I saw this happen with many games like SF6, SF5, Dragon Bal Fighterz, even T7 to some extent, but maybe cause T7 was not very popular at launch people were more chill about it. But I remember that players talked about 2d characters like Akuma stole their wife or something 😂 But yeah, it will be fine again and when Tekken 9 launch we'll have the same conversation 🤦♂ it really looks like its about something greater than the games itself, it's really interesting
Yeah, even Maximilian talked about this “whining phase” on his stream that right now its part of the FGC for any big fighting game. People start whining about it nonstop 4-6 months after release until the release anniversary and then glaze it for the rest of its lifespan.
The blue meter was garbage from day one and till is wtf are you talking about, t8 deserve every bit of criticism, while i'm at it sf6 suck as well, for the same reason: universal gimmicks.
A large portion of players started seeing the issues of Tekken 8 earlier than 4-6months. Way earlier. The early high praise was for the story mode. You started noticing how busted it was gameplay wise by the end of its first month when everyone started getting situated with it. The game is not even a year old and already has 8 huge patches to it. No excuse for Namco to release a game that early on in its unfinished state. Tekken 8 should of released next year.
"the [rage art/floor breaks/bounce juggle] was garbage from day one, [t5/t6/tt2/t7] deserves every bit of criticism, these damn gimmicks ruining my pure and technical series" Like honestly, internet has been at this discourse since the rise of online FG communities, and it's a very silly thing to observe in hindsight.
6:50 my wife says the SNK fandom is really chill and cool. So you're fandoms of KOF, Fatal Fury, Samsho, etc probably some other franchises I'm unaware of. I enjoyed your thoughts and perspective and am looking forward to Virtua FIghter 5 Revo as I have not been able to play it and it looks fun. Curious to see how Virtua Fighter 6 develops.
I'm glad you enjoyed it :D Knowing this about the SNK fandom makes me even more excited for City of the Wolves now🔥It's looking very good. But yeah, when I was almost finishing editing this video they droped the R.E.V.O announcement 😂 Can't wait to try it out.
The only negative (so far) about the SNK fandom is that they need to actually need to understand why the Neo Geo consoles failed from back in the day. And no, Mai isn't the best character, Kyo, Iori and Andy are.

Only the outside world because Latin America and especially Brazil only knows how to talk about KOF 2002 or 98 or 97, we even have a term called "KOF widows" on Brazil, they are those who only play the old ones (mainly 98 or 2002) and think the new ones are for tiktokers
Great video! Really enjoyed the mature look at the community criticism of fighting games, and it was well said. Thanks the video, I'm really hyped for both VF5 REVO and VF6, while still playing VF5 US on PS4 while I'm waiting :) I find the smaller communities tend to be more relaxed. The VF community is great, and as I saw in another comment here, I also felt the SNK community was pretty relaxed too.
@@battlemode Thank you so much! 🙏 I'm glad you enjoyed it :D I'm extremely hyped too, when I was finishing editing this video they dropped the R.E.V.O trailer 🤯 I'll definitely try it. Also, I think you're right, it seems finding a niche game that you like to chill with the community seems to be the best action nowadays :D
I'm so ready for the Virtua Fighter 5 Revo and Virtua Fighter 6 this winter at the Game Awards. I also want the Virtua Fighter live action movie for the 30th anniversary of Virtua Fighter.
6:50 The best online communities tend to be those of niche games, honestly. Guilty Gear is a prime example of this. XX and Xrd have awesome communities who'll usually be happy to welcome you. It has people you can always hop on and play with way less toxicitiy because most people in your (online or offline) region know each other. Strive gets released is now considered mainstream but the western Strive community is one of the worst types of socially inept and weird people in the FGC, tied with Smash, with the dumbest discourses ever.
I see. So It really seems like a side effect of the mainstream popularity then. I remember trying out Xrd years ago and people in lobbies were Extremely nice (After smoking me in the game 😂 of course) They were really open to give me tips as a newcomer and etc. It do look like a nice community. Maybe I'll get back into sometime. About Strive yeah, looking it from outside, it seems like the community is plagued by drama, sadly 😅 wish VF6's popularity when it's out don't create the same toxicity than for instance Tekken's but tbh I dont have many hopes 😂
@@KiaiStudio It's gonna be new players copying some of the older players shit talking Tekken whenever they can. Like how Tekken players like to talk about how complicated Tekken is but in a different game
Its seems like the problems is twitter/Reddit/TH-cam. In tik tok of all things the fandom is pretty chill, i even made some friends here. On the other hand, there is an app called GGPO that is basicaly mobile fightcade but just for mame games (they plan to add Naomi in the future). The games run smoothly and even have rollback netcode. The problem is the chat. More specifically, the chat of the King of Fighters 2002 magic plus. For a better understanding, the most popular games on ggpo are 5: jojo heritage, SF3 Third Strike, Kof 98, kof 2002 and Kof 2002 magic plus. Now i will show you how much active players they mostly have online per day. Jojo: 40 Sf3: 100 Kof 98: 200 Kof 2002: 200/300 Kof 2002 magic plus: 1500 ☠️ So the chat here is very toxic And some mfs even managed to trick the bot and send furry pay gorn (altough this was solved later) Meanwhile somewhat famous games like Garou, Sf alpha 2/3, samurai Shodown are with 5 players per day (and Garou is the 6th place in the most played) Meanwhile my favorite, The Last Blade 2 have 2 players daily (one is me)
Dude, this is so painfuly true. Whenever a game gets too popular, the community starts to absorb a bunch of arrogant fans who start demanding stuff lile they own the developers. This is so damn disgusting, honestly reddit is a big part of the problem
The reason why they released Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is a testament if people will actually buy and play it, if this one sells well then you got VF6 back in the works! Oh, and this is actually the first time VF5 being ported to PC. And Virtua Fighter x Tekken needs to happen someday!
As long as it has stable player base, good netcode, and doesn't make so graphically demanding I am sold. Hey, I am coming from DOA 6 so anything can be better LOL. The only issue I had with tekken 8 was the polaris crash which I had to wait for more than 3 month to resolve the issue, which in some degree its been fixed but on seasonal patches it crashes still. I dont want to have to spend upgrading my pc for one game.
Tekken 8 has sent me running straight toward VF with open arms.
