Bro I appreciate you being vulnerable. There's a reason why I've come and gone so many times on this platform when YT has stopped being fun, felt like work and forcing to create something. I know you'll be back, focus on what you enjoy!

      @caffeinatedcameras  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I appreciate that, but I ain’t going anywhere:) I think my intention was lost somewhere in this video, I’m not defeated, I’m actually probably going to post more now that I realize it’s just one huge experiment:)

15:05 you're on point regarding experimentation curiosity being the foundation of alleviating pressure. No expectations. Just discovery. That is going to lead to what map to the market with relation to focus and standing out amongst others in the space in a way they can't touch you in what you do

I totally understand the feeling about the space is always in a rush to tell you to upgrade or buy this thing.
I do really enjoy the reviews that are not all technical but how the tool is used.
I think you don't give yourself enough credit I think you're doing great here and I really look forward to more from you and what you end up playing with lol

The value of your reviews is your perspective. You have a unique perspective, that quite honestly, is what I look for. Are you excited by this piece of gear? Does it fascinate you? Does it create an emotional response when using it? I look for reviews that focus on that, because that's the kind of filmmaker I am. I need to feel inspired and I often am TRYING to play when I'm filming, because that's often when I go home with my best work. Thanks for being open and honest. I've watched a bunch of your videos in the last few days and I'm glad you haven't quit. Please don't quit. You're not an island. Other people are looking to you whether you know it or not. Thanks, Brandon. Peace.

This speaks to me, I feel this video and understand the perspective. I have a whole list of videos I want to make, but haven't made it. One thing I did, I stopped watching so many videos to curb the comparison to other creators. Ones that are producing more, producing better, producing consistently. Being curious is gold to just creating.

Hey buddy, I don't know how I stumbled upon your video, nor have I ever watched any of your other videos before. But that first half of the video hit home big time! I feel you! I love to travel and see new places, so I decided why not just film my experiences?! But watching the big Travel Channel's makes me feel like I'm just wasting my, and other people's time with my videos! Every time I upload a new video I worry if I provide enough value, information, or at least entertainment?! 😬🤯 it's a struggle. But like you said, I am trying to shift my attitude towards just having fun with it and playing. But still so hard to make that shift 😖🤪 keep doing what you enjoy and it will work out in ways you haven't expected 🙌 and I'll try doing the same 💪 good luck

Hey man, it’s great to have you. I’m sorry you’re struggling with this as well. I literally just shot like a travel video for my main channel and the whole time I was like there’s no way this holds up against other Travel channel videos so I can relate. Thanks for taking the time and riding down your thoughts.

8:45 "what's the point, is not going to be as good as so-and-so" - I feel like a lot of us created have that annoying whisper in our ear. What can help me get over it is approaching it from the perspective of not trying to make it better but what's going to be unique and different. And, can I sprinkle genuine enthusiasm and excitement behind what I'm engaging with. Personally, I never thought that my Astro videos and try to find Jupiter looking at the moon through my beginner telescope would Garner any views or traction but I put them up because I was excited about what I was able to capture even though it wasn't anything close to the likes of astrobackyard or other folks who use dope stuff online. I manage some channels for clients who have over 100,000 subscribers whom I've helped build from zero. The common thing that seems to be at the root of the Channel's success is not comparing it to others in the space but simply knowing that one's own time energy and resources is mapped to the goal and objective of the channel which is unique to each person or team that's working on it. So that right there shows that you can't really compare to others because it's not Apples to Apples anymore

Dude, I usually don't chime in on videos. But, I've watched a quite a few of your videos, and they're GREAT! I hear you say a lot in your video's about getting ready to go on a road trip shoot, or go shoot some commercial work. That's a great place to start. Just be yourself. Give us the day and life of your experiences. Take us on an adventure. HAVE FUN! Give us the POV of your daily routine. Give creators some tips & tricks. I believe a lot of ppl watching YT are immobile and can only experience life through other ppl's eye's. The only problem is, you have to decide which channel is more importation. Your spreading yourself too thin trying to run two different channels. There's a lot of trolls that go around and say stupid shit, and make rude comments. You just have to move on and don't worry about it.

Hey Brandon, I can so relate and you presented this (your points here) really well. Man, I'm struggling with getting videos done for my clients / business, let alone YT content. I find it so hard to get the stuff out the door and it's becoming really stressful. Especially when brands are waiting on reviews for gear they sent me. I can so relate to your point about the 'pixel peeping' camera comparison review type videos, though I watch them, it bores me to make them. Not my forte for sure. But I'm still also making the wrong choices in videos I make. Hoping I hot something that will catch on but more often than not, I miss the mark. It's funny because a decade ago I made my first short film on a Canon 60d, it's a horror. I knew a fraction of what I know now, but that vid is still getting a few thousand views a week (10 years on) and is sitting on over 4 million views now. Therefore, I'm thinking that it would be a lot more enjoyable for me to make short films and get all creative rather than trying to go 'weekly' with YT review type vids that may not inspire me a whole lot.

Yeah I'd love to say I've got the answer for you but obviously we're in the same boat, but I will say probably not going to do you any harm to experiment a little more and "play".
Thanks for watching man and the support and I hope you find a way of making videos that make you happy and fulfilled

8:05 I am late to your channel, but I think you stack up very well, arguably better than some of the other creaters. Content is king, and your content is excellent. You are more steak than sizzle of some of the others, and lots of us appreciate that.

The TH-cam pressure is real for sure! Even if you’re a small creator like me you always compare yourself to others, so all the ideas you might have you shut them down before you even give them a try. What’s worked for me lately is making short form content, getting an idea, trying to shrink it down to a 1-3 minute long video and not having too high standards for the end result and just posting it to different social platforms.
Love the message you have in this video! Thank you!

Dang man…. So I got a lot I’d like to say I don’t even know if you’ll read this and I know I’m kind of late to the party but I just found your channel tonight and want to comment. Where to start? I started my crappy channel a while ago but really decided back in January I wanted to pursue it. I had the bright idea I’d do a video a week. Shit I underestimated how hard that was. Now I’m 8/9 months in and I’m kind of over the pressure (I put on myself) I’m taking g a break for a bit.
On the upside I love the challenge of the cameras, gear, editing and storytelling. It’s the hardest thing I’ve tried to learn. I desperately want to make cinematic stuff like yours but still can’t get my head around it. I love to learn and want to continue that part.
Don’t feel bad about taking a compliment. Your stuff is so great. I wish I had that skill. I actually have been trying to leave as many positive comments on fellow creators because let’s be honest a nice comment goes a long ways. Don’t be afraid to accept that. Roll around in it and enjoy it and have fun.
Anyway just binged your stuff and really like it. Please keep it up and share some of them incredible skills you have for us commoners. 😂

I wonder if you've succumbed - like I have - to focusing too much on what results you're going to get from a video: views, CTR, view duration, virality, ad revenue, sponsorship deals, important or famous people watched it and loved it, respect of our peers, etc. We're so focused on the success of a video and how that success is measured in these terms, that it makes us suppress what we're really supposed to be doing which is to use our unique perspective, our artistic instincts, our creativity, our voice to express ourselves, to say something, to create work that's truthful, that's authentic, that's pure.
I think I've focused so much on the commerce-based results I want to get from my work, that it's made the work uninspired, cookie cutter, bland, vapid, commercial, etc. Maybe not all of it but for me the more and more I focus on views, revenue, paying my bills...the farther away I get from "success". Just a thought. Loved this video, man, and I totally hear you on all of it.

    • @caffeinatedcameras

Let’s be honest yeah I definitely am. Not as much as I used to. I think it really is me seeing this space and how I don’t necessarily like what I’m saying, and I don’t want to be contributing to it, but I’m also doing way more comparing than I should
