If you were from Detroit in that era, you LOVED Laimbeer. If you were not a Piston fan, you’d absolutely HATE him. I was a Piston fan of that era, so I loved him.
I know a lot of people hated Bill Laimbeer but he was one of my favorite Pistons players along with Dennis Rodman & Isiah Thomas. That's coming from a Houston Rockets Fan. I loved the Detroit Bad Boys era.
Any team would have wanted Lambeer on their team. He was aggressive, an instigator, a leader, played his role to perfection and could really play. Maybe the opposing players didn't respect him, but certainly respected the area where he was playing "or else" .
@@wobbafett2464 yeah I don’t watch todays basketball at all. I only see highlights on your tube here and there but for a really big dude he seems like a baby
My favourite NBA center ever. In addition to being a skilled and passionate player he was 100% REAL. Bad Boys is one of the reasons I started following the NBA and learning its history 30+ years ago
Grew up wealthy, thus no truly life altering consequences had he failed in the NBA. Yet, his grit and fearlessness stem from an absolute fear of failure, in his own words. Perfect example of not judging a book by its cover.
He must have had a secret tunnel to enter and exit some of these places he played, or else people would have been waiting outside for him in the parking lot.
Whats also amazing about laimbeer personally is his family were muliti millionaires. He never had to work ever. He got drafted out of notre dame went to indiana & the pistons gm said he was do impressed on some lousy early 80s non playoff pacers team bill played hard on every posession arguing every call. The gm desperately wanted him for that. Bill was such a talent & bright guy & cut throat competitor like mj. Another thing i appreciate is bill has won liks 4 titles as an wnba coach. I saw a video of his former wnba players literally hugging him like crazy & freaking out he came to watch them. Isiah thomas said bill has " won all these titles for the nba & wnba yet nobody in the nba will hire him as any kind of coach or in the office b/c he refuses to leave that detroit pistons bad boy mentality behind he still feels we are his teeamates & wont grow out of it. " i think detroit was lucky to have him. I guess who wouldnt want someone like that having ur back. Plus i kinda love him spitting on the celtics emblem right b4 the pistons shut that annoying boston crowd up & buried the celtics. Pure winner & no way the pistond win w/o him. He was also very talented & dominated the whole back court of other teams. He also started the trend of big man nailing 3's & outside jumpers when even guards only attempted maybe 3 to 5 a night. Mj hitting 5 3's was shocking. Now thats nothing b/c mostly everyone takes 3's or are 30 ft put nailing them.
Mahorn played rough, Laimbeer played dirty. He would try and roll peoples ankles and end their careers, Its like in hockey when a guy hits someone in the open ice but targets one knee, that is a dirty player.
Thanks for the sub and no prob the 80s and especially the 90s was the greatest time for the nba hands down. It’ll never be nearly as good ever again it’s a shame
A POS, but also a soldier you want on your side. You know he will never quit, he will play dirty, he will shoot people on the back, but he will also take the bullet for you and catch you from falling. The big bro you will call when there is trouble and he always comes. Plus he was a stretch big ahead of his time
Never. I'd like to be on the other team ,so I could purposely go in and be the hatchet man. I'd take him out of his dirty game tactics he likes to play.
I'm with lance. Pretty sure you would want a player willing to die for his team mates. He played mind games just like any other player. Bird was great and getting into his opponents but since he is in goat contention. No one says it. I love Bird just saying. I'm pretty sure the one talking about being the hatchet. You would probably run your lane and then run into that brick wall named Bill
People love to hate on Laimbeer for being a dirty player but it's not like he ever tried to seriously injure anyone and the NBA was a much more physical league in his days. He was awesome!!
Love him for telling the truth about Jordan I always love his competitors game the only time I didn’t agree with him when he bully Larry 🦅 the bad boys was my second favorite team
While i cant be a big fan of Laimbeer as i saw him do too many things that was just dirty af, i get why Detroit fans love him. Im a fan of the Washington Capitals and we got a guy, Tom Wilson, that is kinda similar in his role to Laimbeer. Hes a goon but a talented one and everyone in the NHL hates Tom. But in Washington he is loved. We absolutely love Tom Wilson. There are just certain guys that are like that and you love to have one on your team. Because they take pressure off the rest of the team by getting the focus on them and making the opposing team stop focusing on winning and start focusing on dealing with the goon. And Laimbeer is probably the ultimate goon.
Bill Laimbeer beat the shit out of Charles Barkley. Larry Bird feared him talking about he plays to injure players he injured no one. Jordan hated him these are Goats if they complain about you. This means you are significant. Hall of Famer Bill Laimbeer. We love you. In evaluating Bill Laimbeer you have to study Danny Ainge he started it. Bill finished it
Dennis Rodman saved the world meeting w Karl jung Young before the President met with North Korea. The world was saved by a bad boy. Isiah Thomas saved the NBA by stopping both strikes that threatened to destroy the league. He had a relationship w David Stern as an owner and he had the respect of the players. He brought the two opposing sides to the table. The Detroit Pistons.
The guy was competitive and I thought he was great. If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch. Jordan got this eventually and rose to the challenge. He will never admit it but Laimbeer made Jordan a better player.
By far, by far by way far my favorite NBA player of all time. I don't have any money ,but I'd love to have a Autographed Lambier jersey. He folded Larry Bird up like a wet dish rag
Man screw this dude. He could have and tried to seriously hurt people. You can say it’s in the name of competition but this guy was a goon who should have been handled in a worse way than even what Robert Parrish did. No respect for him. Zero
A total asshole because he was intentionally trying to hurt his opponents. He took his attitude to the Detroit WNBA team when he coached them, and they became a very dirty team. The best video of him was when The Chief knocked him out cold.
When Bill got down on all fours and then scooted under a player that was coming down with a rebound, that was it for me. Potentially injuring a player is not "We don't give an inch" basketball. It's just wrong. This guy was full of it.
This guy represents everything bad about basketball. Big dudes with no athletic talent that must rely on their physicality to beat people up. Basically, just a dirty player. Isaiah Thomas was one of the most overrated guards ever. He did not belong on the Dream Team, so drop it already.
If you were from Detroit in that era, you LOVED Laimbeer. If you were not a Piston fan, you’d absolutely HATE him. I was a Piston fan of that era, so I loved him.
A very passionate & dedicated player... it shows from his victims...

We need more of bill in todays game . Can you imagine a LeBron James getting hit by bill? One hit , game over
No kidding!
he'll be traumatized and retire

He coulda had a great run in the NHL as well with that level of grit and fearlessness.

Laimbeer said it best you do not care what anybody else thinks about him as long as he is respected by his teammates that is what matters
He must have had a secret tunnel to enter and exit some of these places he played, or else people would have been waiting outside for him in the parking lot.

I loved Bill. He took the game to another level. No only was he a solid player, he was a master of psychological warfare. Everything for the team.
Trash talking, dodging, punching, swiping, pinning, pushing, grabbing, forearming, charging, hugging, elbowing, slapping
HALLER FAMER!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO FEAR PERIOD!!!!!!!!! MASTER OF MIND GAMES PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank You love Bill
I never saw a cheap shot delivered from Bill Laimbeer that I didn't like!

Rick Mahorn no question.

When NBA need MMA, just bring Piston 40.

Laimbeer played his role well! Respect from Chicago, even though we hated him back in the day!
He’s one of the reason why lebron will never be the goat. You earned your dunk when you played against him.
For all you haters on Laimbeer.....you WANT him on your team.

Bill Laimbeer is the original White Chocolate. He isn't flashy, he gets the job done.
There is precisely zero chocolate in Laimbeer.

He never act black at any point lol he was the white mans player
