*Laimbeer should be in the Hall of Fame just for the fact he's Bill Laimbeer. Just like all the " Stars " who had a say in the NBA's progression through the decades, the name Laimbeer is just as well known as Bird, Magic, MJ, Dr. J ..... etc; etc:*

One of my personal favorites Bill Laimbeer master of the mind games. That’s brilliant when you get opponents thinking about you & not their own game or team.

Laimbeer is one of my favorite centers of all time. "His Heinous" was the man in the middle. He was like the nasty Bob Pettit of centers, maximizing his allegedly limited talents to make significant contributions to his team. An awesome defensive rebounder and probably the best box-out artist of all time. And one of the best outside shooting big men of all time. His psy-war tactics proved invaluable to the evolution of defensive demon Dennis Rodman.

Ive Never watched basketball since the early 90's. Have no interest in it these days whatsoever. But i stumbled across the 30 for 30 program last night on Netflix. I was too young to remember this Pistons team but I can respect the hell out of Bill Laimbeer after watching that. Theres one thing I respect tough competitors And Laimbeer was a tough sob.

Bill Laimbeer is my Favorite player. It was entertainment and real defense. Modern nba is a game of horse with defenders parting like the red sea if someone goes for a dunk.

I have watched every NBA finals since 1965 and I think lambeer had to play dirty because he was a shitty player .
Lambeer could not dribble and drive. . He could not block a shot so people drove to the bucket on him. Watch all the dunks on him. Secondly, he was flat footed and had no post game. All he had was a shot and as far as rebounding all you had to do was turn you r back and block out. Most of his rebounds were on the defensive side of the ball. Offensive rebounds are much harder.
He could not guard anyone today. There are so many better and more mobile centers. I would have loved to see him try to pull his shit on Willis Reed. He would have kicked Lambeer's ass. Reed was better at every aspect of the game and also had a wonderful outside shot.
Lambeer got his just reward. He is not in the HOF(no one rewards a thug). He did not get a coaching job. He was basically kicked out of the league for being a total asshole.
You know that this gets under his sj kin no matter what he says.

I hated the Pistons. However, they were a great, great basketball team. Great chemistry, outstanding talent, well coached, and tremendous heart and guts. Made for great basketball and the most competitive basketball ever.

Bill should be in the Hall of Fame, based on his two championships as a player and multiple championships as a coach in the WNBA. I went to high school with Bill, and he lead us to the CIF championship in southern California. He was all about winning, even then. Great shooter, and great rebounder, not just a tough defender.

He cant even crack the top 5 on the All Time All White depth chart at his position, Luc Longley won titles but like Laimbeer doesnt deserve to be in the HOF..... Rik Smits isnt in the HOF and anybody who says Laimbeer was a better player than him is delusional at the very least lol.....

@@bigglilwayne7050 ARE YOU KIDDING? Lets compare Luc Longley to Laimbeer. IT isn't even close. Laimbeer 9.7 rebounds per game, lead the league in rebounding, 10,400 career rebounds
12.9 points per game 13,790 points, 49% shooting. 83% free throw shooter, and was the first outside shooting center.
Made six three pointers in a NBA finals game. 1068 games played averaging 31 minutes, 861 games as starter.
Has his jersey retired by the Pistons. Retired a Piston.
six seasons in a row without missing a game. 12 seasons of more than 80 games played. 4 time all star.
2 time NBA champion, 3 time WNBA champion as coach. WNBA coach of the year.
Luc Longley 4.9 rebounds per game, NEVER lead the league in rebounding, just 2,794 career rebounds
7.2 points per game just 4,090 points, 46% shooting. 76% free throw shooter. and NEVER SHOT A THREE IN HIS CAREER.
Just 567 games played averaging 21 minutes, NEVER had a season where he didn't miss a games, 362 games as starter.
NEVER had his jersey retired, was traded to Phoenix for Mark Bryant, Martin Müürsepp, Bubba Wells
(two of those never played a minute for the Bulls)
most games played in a season just 59. Always injured. ZERO times all star.

@@bigglilwayne7050 Go ahead, make the comparison on stats. Go for it. Substantiate you claim. Tell me how many championships Smits has, how many rebound per game, many career points and rebounds, how many games played? How many three pointers. How many three pointers in the finals, how many times was he was an all star? How many championships does he have as a coach? Again Laimbeer will come out on top. You are the one that compared him to Luc longley, not me, and now you are claiming he is irrelevant? Then why did you mention him? It is not my job to substantiate you false claim, you are lazy in your response, as I expected. Mark Eaton? Are you kidding? he beats Laimber in one category, blocks, he scored 6 points a game, Laimbeer has more rebounds per game, lead the league in rebounding, played more than double the number of games, scored more, won championships was an all star, shot higher percentage from the field and free throws. And Laimbeer actually could shoot three pointers. It isn't even close.

I think Laimbeer is a little bit underrated. Had a rebounding title, made 4 All Star teams and was a good 3-point shooter, very rare for a center at that time. You don't have to like him and I'm not saying he's an all-time great player here but when you add the back-to-back titles to that resume you get somebody who's at the very least objectively a total overachiever as a 3rd round draft pick.
He should be known for more than the physicality and "Bad Boy" image, as should that team in general for that matter.

    • @arizjones
      @arizjones 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Pat Riley knows more about it than you. Here is a Pat Riley quote about it: ""In 1988, when we got Detroit and Kareem hit that phantom sky hook foul, he had to make the two free throws," Riley said Thursday. "He didn't choke. He did not choke on the free throws. He had to make them. He made them. And that led us to a seventh game and a win. But the next year, Detroit came back and swept us." SO PAT RILEY CALLS IT A PHANTOM FOUL.
