You’ll have better luck collecting original starwars than modern from Hasbro lol. You need to follow your passion and not buy just to buy. I’m enjoying my Motu Origin stuff 😊. That’s me though. Cheers!
I sold off my entire Motu collection twice and got them back. I really regretted it. I also had a problem with finding people that would pay for them. So I just sell on eBay cause this way I get a fair price for them. It takes longer but this way I can go through what I really want to give up.
I was short of time so just sold the figures in a lot. I could have got more money selling them individually, but that could have taken months and months.
Thanks. I had forgotten about that series of toys until you opened it. I didn't have any of them but now remember them. Nice to be reminded of a toy I forgot.
My goodness Dean, I haven’t remembered the name “Rough Rider” in YEARS! I forgot the name of those! We had the giant styrofoam mountain and quite a few rough riders! Great memories of those. Wow man! Thanks for sharing. I remember the commercials for these too.
5:28 Seeing that cardback burns me up like it was yesterday. My #1 favorite ship from Star Wars is the TIE Bomber. That was the only TIE Bomber toy they made back then. I looked for it all over. Wasted so much damn time. I had all of those ships except for that 1. I *NEVER* found one. Still pisses me off to this day.
That die cast Snow Speeder is indeed a beautiful piece. I have too but never seen it’s package. I did not know a Tie Bomber exists from this line. I always loved these Micro collections playsets. This scale had more possibilities for larger vehicles or buildings. Looking back I think the line had more options beyond what was made. A star destroyer or Blockade runner on the true scale of the micro figures could have been really nice. I still have the body of that A Team van from childhood, the rest I lost somewhere in time. Never knew to which A team toy it belonged; till now.. the LJN A team van with 3 speeds! Have been considering to turn that empty body into a Carrera slot race car to race against my Delorean ;-)
I wonder if the die cast series of vehicles was aimed at a slightly older age group than the figures as there really isn't a lot of play value with them. I can't wait to see what you do with the body of the A-team van.
Congrats on your pickups Dean! I recently sold most of my origins collection and made money on some, got what I paid on others, reason one no room to display them all opened, and two they're starting to show up at dollar stores in Canadas so I got rid of them asap before they all end up there for $5 each and I either can't get rid of them or I end up losing money.
Awesome pickups man! Wow, Rough Riders! I had Stompers, basically the same idea as Rough Riders. Actually I still have 2 of them in a box somewhere. I'm stoked for you Dean🤘
Once I get set up in Thailand, I'll do a full demo and you'll see that this was one of the few toys that did exactly what it claimed it could do. The 4x4 system, coupled with those tyres, meant it could really get across any surface and any ramp you put in front of it.
You should see the one I still have, definitely not mint! Same with you, I wasn't overjoyed when I got it as a kid, just seemed to pale against my 3.75" figure collection.
I can imagine as I've seen quite a few on eBay that were totally battered. I think the fact that I only had the one die cast Star Wars vehicle meant that it felt pretty useless as you couldn't use it with your figures.
I remember getting the Knight 2000 Rough Rider...was a great toy in iteslf, but monster truck wheels on a Trans-Am never looked right to me even as a kid. 😆
About as vintage as go right is I have some power of force Star Wars 90’s figures I’ve opened one i do plan to open the other ones i just need to figure which on is gonna be the Star for may 4th this year .
Origins are showing up in the Dollarama chain here in Canada multiple waves 5 bucks for a webstor now!!! masterverse has followed 5 dollars.. worthless now!!
I quit collecting modern hasblow for the same reason.Hate Exclusives.I have been selling stuff and using the money for original kenner star wars and gi joes.
I have a vintage snow speeder as well but it seems to have been through quite a battle. Do you or anyone in chat know how to flatten out the main guns that are bent upwards?
Wow, so cool. Looks like a fantastic trade to reclaim some childhood favorites. I had the knightrider gear car, didn't realize they a A-team van. But yes lots of fun with knightrider... Likely teamed up with my dukes of hazzard wrist car.
Were the Rough Riders from LJN a "copycat" of sorts of Schafer's legendary Stompers? I am not trying now to 'belittle' the RR; I am just curious from "toy historian's" perspective. P.S. - The Stompers were at one point voted one of 100 best toys of all time in some prestigious poll, if I remember it correctly.
I thought the Origins line would have been better if they had included more of the original action features, but they looked great and I really did like the improved articulation. I also enjoyed some of the updated vehicles. That said, easy decision to trade those off for some incredible vintage examples! I haven’t seen rough riders in years. Great pickups!
Some nice items there! I'm sorry you decided to sell your MOTU collection but you had a good reason for doing so and I'm pleased you got some nice minty examples of childhood toys that give you that nostalgic feeling. Monkeboy and I enjoyed the video 👍💀🐵
Guys, now that mister AT8 sold his MOTU stuff we rely on your channels to cover the universe of He-Man and that bony fellow.. what was his name again?! yeah Skeletor i believe 😆
Yeah, I had to do it. Not only the cost of shipping it all to Thailand, but also the fact that it was going to take up a great deal of display space that I need for other toy lines.
So cool to see you recapture the experience of opening a childhood toy again Dean, and the fact that it works and is in such mint condition is icing on the cake!!!
@@AllThings80s you moving to Thailand? It’s a smart move financially and can you ever get bored there with so much to walk around and see every day? I admire you!
@@AllThings80s all the best on that, very few people would have the guts or the adaptability to pull a move like that off. I can't fault you for moving along a collection that just isn't giving you as much pleasure as you had hoped. Over the years I've been guilty of buying stuff that was pure nostalgia, or just because, or something that was adjacent to things I liked. But the older I get, the more I realize how space, interest, & money is increasingly more limited, so I've been trying to refocus on the things that truly make me happy (in my case, vintage Kenner Star Wars). Really love the diecast Star Wars vehicles and have great examples in my collection as well. That snowspeeder looks amazing Dean, Happy to see that you're able to get one in such lovely condition. Can't believe you finally got your A-Team Rough Rider!!!!!!! That's awesome that you're able to get one that was on-card and virtually perfect for your display, not to mention that it works just like brand new after all these years. I can honestly say I don't recall this one for my childhood, but I would have absolutely loved it. Really getting excited to see your setup when you get moved. So many things from your collection that you've discussed and shown over the years, including your latest few batches of last chance salon items. The display is going to be epic. Can't wait!
@tikvision - Because the requirements for retail sales numbers on the toy aisle exceed the demand from adult collectors. Therefore, the exclusive Mattel Creations store allows production to meet the demand of niche market buyers without having to over produce.

Great additions to the collection Dean. MOTU origins never really grabbed me either. I much prefer my vintage He-Man and Battlecat!

Very cool Rough Rider A-Team Van there! Those were really cool vehicles and 4 wheel drive too. Nice find!
Thanks
Also got the die-cast Snowspeeder in 1982. Probably my favourite vehicle from the SW films; also wanted the die-cast X-Wing, but couldn't find one.
👍🏻
So awesome glad you were able to score some childhood memories
👍🏻

Yes, those do look a bit strange.
Rather than colour the blistercard back in black is there a way a repair can be made. Toy Polloi and his skills? A collaboration video?
Well, despite his unquestionable skills, TP unfollowed me because apparently, I'm involved in too much drama, so no collaboration I'm afraid.
We were the luckiest generation for the best toys.
Absolutely 👍🏻

Possibly put it in hot water and then re-set the plastic?

They were certainly very similar.
Was wondering, would the scale of these Micro collection figures be compatible with the later released (90ies) Micro machines?
Hmmm, I think the Micro Machines might be a smaller scale.
LJN, thankfully their toys were better quality than their video games!! 😅
LOL 👍🏻

Indeed 👍🏻
In 1972.......

I was all in on this line, then they jumped the shark with some stupid releases.
