  • Hey guys! This week we're going to try to fire up the 1952 Pontiac that was shut off in 1968! Agents 4639 and 7889 are on the scene to help out and record the chaos for posterity... Then: Agent 0842 has brought over his freshly-assembled 1988 BMW M3 that he has fitted with a later-model engine, and he's going to let me take it for a drive!
I'm off to the Vintage Tractor Pull this weekend, so wish me luck and I'll try to get some footage of the adventure!

The poor Pontiac engine was jumping with excitment when first revived, but soon calmed down when it realized that the car surrounding it has a 0% chance of ever seeing the road again. I love the contrast between the Pontiac and Ashley's super clean M3, as well as the absurdity of stealing gas from a weedwacker in the dark. Great show this week!

The real contrast between the Pontiac and the BMW was the Pontiac was steel and leather embellished with chrome and upholstery. The BMW was plastic embellished with plastic covered with leather. We've come a long way with cars but lost the art of cars.

@@mfmf100 I don't mean to hate on the BMW I just think we've lost something in car design. Yes we gained horsepower, fuel economy and manufacturing efficiency. If you look at today's cars of similar size from a distance they all look like they were cut out of the same piece of clay. I guess I've become jaded I've owned too many new cars that looked like everybody else's.

Robbing the weed whacker for fuel was fabulous. That's what we used to call Midnight Auto Parts. Reminds me of the time we were performing final maintenance checks on a WWII Sherman tank late at night for an off-site event the following day. Problems cropped up that might have disabled the tank (never a good thing when the vehicle you're driving weighs 69,000 pounds). This meant we had to go back to the museum where a small crew of reenactors had camped out for the night in preparation for their part of the same event. Since we couldn't rouse anyone to let us in, we had to scale wall and a fence which was a lot of trouble because it was topped by razor wire. All of that, just to scavenge a replacement part off of one of the static tank displays. In the process, we were 'caught' by one of the reenactors. Everybody had a good laugh because the poor fellow who discovered us nearly soiled himself. Keep up the good work. That old engine is really a treat! 40 pounds of oil pressure. Unbelievable!

I appreciate how you accept the common riff-raff like Carreras and M3s. I feel like I'm watching a parallel universe unfold! Gearhead heaven. Thanks again for the amazing variety, and fun

Our latest addition is a 1956 BMW Isetta microcar that was a close friend of ours car.. it hadn't ran in at least 25 years so I did the right thing and cleaned the carb, changed the sludge formerly known as oil and shoved a fresh lawn mower battery in it. (300cc of drag race ready engine!!) And it fired right off.. took it to a huge car show this weekend and gave rides in it.. it got a survivor and cutest car award...

Hi Scott and all at Cold War Motors. I just knew the old flathead would purr like a kitten. I very much appreciate the "zero budget" approach, as a tune up would be a waste if the engine were bad. Hooray! The internet is finally back on in Isabella!

I had a 55'er. Loved that car! I learned that you don't talk back to a Pontiac and it will run till it don't want to any more!

The poor old Fraser is one of life’s little treats, an under appreciated car, it speaks of a time when thinks were built with care and dependability in mind. One of my favourite memories is the cold start video of a few years ago. It gave me huge respect for six volt electrics and engineering that done near eighty years ago. Nice work Scott, Frankers, and agents.

The old girl still has some life in her. That was pretty cool that it settled down to a steady idle after a little attention. The stealing gas from yourself was just pure rediculousness. Loads of fun though. I noticed you took it out of the Gravely instead of the T. Great to have these nice friends that will gladly help you out. That M3 is very nice. That thing is so clean! Love this channel.
