Best CMC episode ever, I was really excited when they got their cutie marks and it also changed my mind about Diamond Tiara as I finally understood about why she was bullying others in the first place. Awesome work Amy Keating Rogers 10/10 and it makes me smile every time I watch it ^^
When I first saw this episode, I'd never expected it would be a redeeming episode for Diamond Tiara nor the episode where the CMC get their Cutiemarks. I was at awe with Daimon Tiara's song about how she wants to be a better pony. Never would I believe a single song would turn my opinions about her right around and has become one of my top favorite songs in MLP. And right when I thought the CMC would never get their Cutiemarks, the up and got them! I never expected them to share the same destiny. And the moment where 3 of the Mane Six (mainly Rarity) started singing jerked a tear or two.
It got me all emotional. This was a great episode and I think it's fitting how the cutie marks changed to be similar but yet kept their individuality. It killed me when Applejack mentioned their parents. Best song was chasing Tiara down to the school yard. God, I love my little pony LOL
This is easily the best episode of the series. It managed the impossible three times: First, by making me feel sorry for Diamond Tiara with SS ditching her and her mother yelling at her. Second, it made her likable, with her solo song (which is now my favorite in the series). Third, it turned her into one of my favorite characters in the show.
i think we can all assume that when ever we get an episode with a like of songs in it there something BIG happening, this was the greatest episode, everything about it was amazing, i still get teary eyed every time i watch this episode. i look forward to what the future will hold for the CMC. this was a great review Doc BroHoof(\ LONG LIVE THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!!!!!!
For some reason I didn't see this video in your list...colour me embarrassed. My full response to this is on your top 15 best lessons Part 2 if you haven't already read it and would like to I am SO glad you appear to have liked this episode as much as I did. I LOVE Twilight, but the CMC are able to outrank her solely because of this episode. Diamond Tiara's inclusion was genius and poetic. Their journey to their CM's started and ended with her. I love the poetic song of their marks being just a place to start - they know what they have to do, and they can fully focus on that now. I love all the music, but do agree with you that DT's redemption was a little quick and could have been split into multiple parts like MMC. I smile everytime I think of this episode, and I think of it A LOT. Even as I write this, I'm so happy to see how positively you're talking about it :)
i loved the fact that all they needed was a few moments scene with Diamond and her mother talking, and everything her character has done makes 100% sense
I thought that to, this is the first time iv seen a video reuploaded after being taken down by TH-cam. I hope he fixed the problem so it dosnt happen again though.
Juan Carlos Gonzalez DrW entrusted some other guy to edit the first version of this video, the other guy absent-mindedly used mirrored show clips (something DrWolf had never done before), and TH-cam construed it as an attempt to evade ContentID (even though he absolutely didn't intend to).
I still freaking loved this episode and it gave me a huge change of heart towards Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. I love the songs, I mean; "We'll Make Our Mark" might be my new favorite song since "You'll Play Your Part".
well I feel that DT's redemption was terrible. no one goes from manipulating people and bullying people to calling them your friends in a single afternoon. not to mention that the CMC's marks were all the same ugly generic shield. they have only helped a total of 2,3 maybe people and suddenly it's their destiny. what a waste. Finally, I hate how they went to the easiest route possible and blamed it all on the mom. DT still did terrible things and having a bad mother does not excuse all of it.
+Alex Ramirez Well, all in all, everyone starts out as an innocent baby and has a good core. Even on our planet. I still don't like DT, but I guess she played an important role in showing the viewers what bullies do, so I can accept that she is needed in the show.
+Ian Smart "that the CMC's marks were all the same ugly generic shield" What...? Their cutie marks may have shared the shield-logo, representing them as cutie mark crusaders, but they also had special individual talents on their cutie marks, if you bothered to look more into it.
This made me want to adopt Diamond Tiara in a heartbeat. Spoiled Milk (that's her maiden name and it fits her) is so dumb. Yes let your daughter terrorize the youngest siblings of your husband's business partners, the sister of a premire designer and the pseudo-sister of the most promising Wonderbolt reserve. And all of those ponies are protectors of the land. Also the cmc are friends with the embodiment of chaos. I have no doubt Discord can get extremely nasty. Just prepared for some nightmares and Luna isn't going to help unless he's going to make you take a vacation at the mental ward.
Thank you Doc for re-uploading your review on this episode and deducing why it was removed for us so that it'll be easier for other TH-camrs to avoid that same scenario. Also, I still LOVE your updated look for your video persona here; is it still going to replace the old look. I think it's even more adorable, but that's just my opinion.
One of the reasons I/We love MLP, this Episode show us how dynamic and alive this show is. The Characters can change from Evil to Good, learn Lessons, make Friends, ... (This really makes same Plot holes) I was afraid that the CMCs became this "Ever ending Journey"-Cliche. #DRWolf001 this episode from my fist viewing left a very emotional impression on me from an almost hate toward diamond tiara to the classic oh's when diamond tiara was burned by silver spoon. as well as spoiled rich by her own daughter in front of the entire school to shock and awe at the cmc we grew to know and love finally earn their cutiemarks and the lovely reprise to end it all up with ("liquid pride"- shining armor) tears of joy. easily became my favorite episode out of the show but I look to the future episodes with an open heart and mind and wish great things in the cmc's future.
@3:45 Am I the ONLY one who saw this coming from a mile away??? I saw this WAY back by the end of S2 because I was playing Catch Up, and I STILL saw this coming from a mile away!!! Oh Celestia!! THIS was SATISFYING for an episode!!!
Honestly, this came as a surprise. I was fully expecting the CMC to NEVER get their cutiemarks so they could milk the gag for as long as possible. Maybe even it happening on the very final episode's fade-out, with Sweetie Belle cutting loose with another "Oh come ON!" Thing is... with this, and all the other arcs that seem to be coming to a close and Twilight seeming to have come full circle. Twilight started as a student of an alicorn, and now she is an alicorn with a student... It feels like things are coming to an end. Or at least... the originality and lack of executive meddling is coming to an end. Starlight Glimmer being Twilight's student gives the writers a chance to reuse a LOT of plots, because it's another pony learning the lessons, not Twilight. Yes. I am being cynical. But you have to admit, its something that could easily be done.
this episode made diamond tiara a character to sympathize with rather than a character to hate. like silver-quill said about sea breeze from it ain't easy being breezie, it showed at the end why sea breeze was so angry towards the other breezies he had a family waiting for him. while diamond tiara had a mother who taught her to only socialize with ponies of a higher class then the ones in ponyville. the crusaders helped her open her eyes to be a better pony.
I loved it! Even the songs. The writing was sooo gooood. The allegories, the play on words in Diamond Tiara's song, the ending... ugh. So satisfying. It reminded me a lot of the Akira Kurosawa film Ikiru. Instead of being selfish, leave something behind for the next generation to enjoy. What would be even more satisfying? I hope the writers won't forget to let the Cutie Mark Crusaders do a proper version of their theme song again to show off their real talents this time.
It was nice to see that the cmc marks linked to each others in a more unique way than the main six with it looking simliar but diffeent from one another. Aside helping others try earn there cutey marks or understanding it i think they are destined for far greater things, i mean they not only earned it at same time but we see a bit more magic surrounded them as they got it compaired to others from show. Maybes its a hint? We didnt see that much magic when one got a cutey marks exception perhaos of twilight sparkle when taking her test. I might be overthinking things but would be a nice thought.
Here's a point that's made with the way Diamond's mother talks :Spoiled Rich bullies her own daughter. I have a hard time believing that her mother SUDDENLY decided that blank flanks were bad after diamond got her own cutie mark. No. I think that SR actually berated and talked down to her daughter for not having a cutie mark and has never treated Diamond like a daughter. She seems to treat her more like a pet to be commanded and shown off and Filthy Rich is always buying her things and giving her what she wants in an effort to counteract that. He can't divorce Spoiled Rich because that would be a scandal to his successful business, but tries to apologize to DT for the way her mother acts through constant gifts and spoiling.I'd like to see an episode in season 6 about how to cope with parents splitting off and how to come to terms with the fact that YOU are not the reason they've decided to separate and using Diamond, Filthy, and Spoiled would be the perfect family for it. Filthy is finally fed up with the way Spoiled talked to DT and sends the little filly out so that the adults can 'talk'. Scared, DT goes to the CMC and vents to them about everything happening. Unsure of what to do, they take DT to Twilight or AJ for advice on how to react. She tells the older mare(s) that her parents are fighting over her and she thinks she's the reason they're going to split up. Unable to calm her down, The adult in the spotlight would go talk to FR about how his Daughter is feeling and it's Filthy who tells Diamond that it's not her fault and adults some times just don't get along. DT would then write in the journal about how sometimes ponies drift apart and it's no one's fault. The friendship just didn't work and it's better for both ponies to move on and make friends with someone else.
You know, when the episode started, I was cringing that DT was reaching a record low with everyone around her. But with everything else that happened in this episode, it’s as you said: another Magical Mystery Cure for the series. And it was so poetic: the CMC started with DT, and their redemption of her was what they needed to do to progress all along! And hopefully, at some point, SS can get some character development. I have wondered for what reason she would start following DT with everything.
I honestly didn't think they'ed get their marks till the very last season of the series. But I'm interested to see where they go with the CMC in future seasons.
Yep I'm still smiling I thought the CNCs cutiemarks we're going to be a song note a wheel with a lightning strike and a ....apple I don't know apple blooms cutiemark has always been a mystery to me.
I also used to think that this episode was too short and the change of path of tiara too fast. but consider this, maybe she have already seen how her way was wrong, maybe she was already struggling to change her point of view, maybe the CMC have just given her the boost she was looking for.
The parents thing was something along the lines of Lauren knew Hasbro wouldn't allow something like that in the show. And Lauren did bump into creative differences with Hasbro a lot that's why she left. So that they hint at it is already a big thing.
they are not dead! they could be on an adventure finding new areas for Apple orchards, or off taking care of a family member that had fallen ill... and furthermore how come we don't see anymore relation to the oranges' ??? they are still technally applejack's family even if they don't have apples for cutiemarks. what when applejack found out she wanted to go live on the farm mean she just ups and forgets about her aunt and uncle who took her in and took care of her in manehatten? sorry I'm just sick of every pony saying that this episode "confrimed" the parents supposed deaths it doesn't though I could accept that the mom could have passed after having apple bloom and the dad from a illness or something like that but not until there is some soild proof about it first ok everybody.
Ventusanimegirl At first I thought you were someone that was scared of the idea of a character being that but that's not the case. The two falling stars that applejack saw in one episode were supposed to represent her parents. This was confirmed by the writers I belief. I always doubt my own memory because I don't want to spread misinformation.
Another popular episode where I must play the hipster. I don't really like this episode. In fact, I'm closer to hating it than I am tolerating it. I felt that the new things they gave Diamond Tiara took away from what she already had. Despite her being a bully, I always felt she truly believed in herself and what she was doing. Whether it was right or wrong, to me, it felt like she was comfortable with her life and how she was living it. Saying that her mother was responsible for most of her actions and that she secretly wanted to change felt like a rip against that part of her character, especially since it was a mother we had never seen before. I also felt that her friendship with Silver Spoon was genuine. They didn't always treat each other as friends normally would, but I felt they both knew what kind of relationship they had and they were both happy with it. I had trouble believing their friendship fell apart the way it did. And lastly, the concept that the CMC are specially talented at helping others discover the meanings of their cutey marks feels like a season 5 only thing. I can't recall any major moments pre-season 5 that they truly helped someone other than themselves in the way they helped Diamond Tiara and Trouble Shoes. Very disappointing and even infuriating episode. I will admit though... We'll Make Our Mark brought me to tears and still does. That freaking part with the older sisters, especially what Rarity says.
I asked this before the take down. Was this the narcissistic personality disorder episode? Diamonds tiaras mom. How she shapes her child... The horribleness that is NPD... And OMG THEY GOT THEIR CUTIE MARKS AWWWWWHHHHEEE WEEEEEEEEEE YES YES YES
Crusaders of the Lost Mark is my favorite episode of all time, I do not think they could've done a better job with the episode. The only complaint that I have with this episode is that they over did it with the arias, but that is nitpicking at best. I really hope that in Season 6 onwards, the CMC episodes are dedicated to helping all of the background foals with their cutie marks and I theorize that this is why Hasbro gave the cease and desist for the Misadventures of Button Mash.
good review doc, though I admit I am somewhat disapointed that I have been unsuccessful in finding reviews of this episode from some of your colleges, like silver quill, or especially firebrand because I've watched alot of his stuff, and he dumps on diamond tiara pretty hard, so I wonder how he feels about her now that she has redeemed herself
so has the strike been removed, also i think i sand this before but i would have been happy if they ended the series here but now Weill have to see what is the next step for there journey
best episode ever is the best episode I've ever seen I have no words to explain how happy I am to see this episode and I've watched it 10 times heard the songs 15 times and I think I'm just going to watch it for the 11th time
I'm glad Diamond changed from bad to good and that she learned for stand up for herself as well as her real friends. Have you ever stood up to mean people the way Diamond Tiara stood up to her mother for the CMC?
And holy crap, I JUST realized, "Past Sins" actually called this in a way, by letting Nyx stay on as a full-fledged honorary cutie mark crusader, precisely so she could help others find their cutie marks. And what was her mark? A shield, just like the other CMC members.
Am I the only one who is even a little sad that sweetie bells parents never came back once? Even for the most important day of her life? What happened to THEM
If you think about it if the CMC got the marks people originally thought they would get then wouldn't they have been blank flanks they were just enjoyable activities
Yes! One of the favorite episodes! I mean the song and music are great! I have to give credit to Daniel Ingram for the music!!! The pony I wanna be sing by Diamond Tiara instantly becomes my favorite song in MLP!
I cried because I was so darn happy for the Cutie Mark Crusaders to finally earn their cutie marks!!!!😂 Also I can't wait to see Diamond Tiara in another episode now that she is reformed.
honestly I don't think this episode was as special as everyone thought, "Oh no the bully has a bad homelife..." That's been done front and back, I can understand it working if it was revealed that Diamond Tiara was a bitch because she saw as a filly how cruel and manipulative her dad can be in the buisness world towards potential clients despite him trying to hide those efforts from her, there's a good motivation that also leads to some good humor opportunities. Also, this episode shows how underdeveloped Silver Spoon is as a character in her own marrits compared to Diamond Tiara, just because the bete bitch turns on the alpha bitch doesn't mean she is any less of a bitch herself.
I might need some doc counseling because I'm the only brony who doesn't like this episode. This episode really upset me. Setting aside the fact that musical Crusader episodes grate on me like sandpaper, what bothered me was this: I had waited for a LONG time to see those kids get their cutie marks and I was REALLY looking forward to see what unique and interesting marks they would get. And then it happened. And they all... looked... the same. It was kind of a let down for me. I really wished that they would each have something really unique and interesting on their butts, but they each got the same generic shield, with the same color, with a symbol in it. All three marks just look too similar. I just don't like them. I was hoping to see something... really unique and special for each of them. Not just a generic shield on each of their butts that shares the same colors. It made me sad. I felt really let down when I didn't see each one get something totally neat and unique for a cutie mark.
+BlackburnBigdragon If you look more closely, you'll see that each mark has two different symbols. Applebloom has a heart within an apple. Sweetie has a music note inside a diamond and Scoots has a lightning bolt within a wing
+sadlobster1 They still look the same. They all still are generic shields, all the same color, with symbols on them. What I was hoping for was for each to have something completely different from each other. The Mane 6 for example all have distinctly different marks. I expected the same for the Crusaders. Not three shields that you can't tell apart from a distance. That's why I'm so let down. I would have been fine if Sweetie had a music note in a diamond and Scoots had a lightning bolt with a wing and Bloom had a heart with an apple! As long as they were different colored and without shields!!! Their marks now are all the same color and all in the same color shield and look the same. Their marks feel almost like they used a cookie cutter to make them to me.
BlackburnBigdragon I think each of the colors is a representation of the crusaders. There's red for Apple Bloom, light purple for Sweetie Belle and dark purple for Scootaloo
sadlobster1 They could have at least moved the colors around, though, like having their individual color in the middle of the shield, or choosing three different sets of colors based off of the crusaders (one for each girl).
remember that story reading "TOO FAR" when she drove dinky hooves to suicide? well that should have been before that episode and should of made that story into an episode
I loved the songs but the CMC cutiemarks bug me and always will. cutiemarks are ment to be unique. there's are the same ,pretty much. oh there's a simble in each heart NOT THE POINT they look identical, not unique at all and it really anoys me to no end.
WHY IS EVERYONE INSULTING THIS EPISODE BY COMPARING IT TO MAGICAL MYSTERY CURE?! THAT IS THE WORST EPISODE OF THE ENTIRE SHOW. IT DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE TO BE REMEMBERED, IT DESERVES TO FADE INTO OBLIVION.
Best CMC episode ever, I was really excited when they got their cutie marks and it also changed my mind about Diamond Tiara as I finally understood about why she was bullying others in the first place. Awesome work Amy Keating Rogers 10/10 and it makes me smile every time I watch it ^^
+Rosie Sievers (rigifan32) Agreed! In fact, it's my new favorite episode of the series because of all the work that was done with it!
Rosie Sievers yeo

The friendship just didn't work and it's better for both ponies to move on and make friends with someone else.
this ep made me so happy! can't wait to see what those three do!
Glad to see this video back!
I really like this episode because of CMC they are so awesome nice to see there cutie mark
Glad we got this video back. ^^
Thank you all,and she's feeling much better now, thankyou
I also used to think that this episode was too short and the change of path of tiara too fast. but consider this, maybe she have already seen how her way was wrong, maybe she was already struggling to change her point of view, maybe the CMC have just given her the boost she was looking for.
this episode made me feel bad for every mean thing I said about Diamond Tiara
Nice to see it back.
This episode is easily one of my favorites.
Ventusanimegirl
At first I thought you were someone that was scared of the idea of a character being that but that's not the case.
Glad to see this one's back up. :)
This episode was monumental to me,
It gave me a huge change of heart towards DT, and the CMC got their cutie marks, THEIR CUTIE MARKS!!!!!!!!!
I really hope that in Season 6 onwards, the CMC episodes are dedicated to helping all of the background foals with their cutie marks and I theorize that this is why Hasbro gave the cease and desist for the Misadventures of Button Mash.
good review doc, though I admit I am somewhat disapointed that I have been unsuccessful in finding reviews of this episode from some of your colleges, like silver quill, or especially firebrand because I've watched alot of his stuff, and he dumps on diamond tiara pretty hard, so I wonder how he feels about her now that she has redeemed herself
so has the strike been removed, also i think i sand this before but i would have been happy if they ended the series here but now Weill have to see what is the next step for there journey
best episode ever is the best episode I've ever seen I have no words to explain how happy I am to see this episode and I've watched it 10 times heard the songs 15 times and I think I'm just going to watch it for the 11th time
This was even better the second time around!
I'm glad Diamond changed from bad to good and that she learned for stand up for herself as well as her real friends. Have you ever stood up to mean people the way Diamond Tiara stood up to her mother for the CMC?
Roy they are on a cruise!
I could see a new arc for these characters based on the definition of Crusaders and the map or am i over thinking things
What happened to THEM
Hooray, it's back! TH-cam, if you take this down again, you'll be sorry.
If you think about it if the CMC got the marks people originally thought they would get then wouldn't they have been blank flanks they were just enjoyable activities
im sure this will be okay cause it was only because of the mirrored clips.that the other.one got taken down
If this video gets taken down again, someone re-upload it to Dailymotion.
I have an idea for season six. Maybe to repay them for helping her in this episode, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon actually join the Crusaders!
Yes! One of the favorite episodes! I mean the song and music are great! I have to give credit to Daniel Ingram for the music!!! The pony I wanna be sing by Diamond Tiara instantly becomes my favorite song in MLP!
Wow, over five hundred people rated this video, and not a single dislike. Impressive.
I whod like to see the cmc and the main "7" work togeder in a episode ind wer they are sent buy the cutemap
I am lost for words when they got their cutie marks, this even makes forget what to say so it's not just mentally, but also fisicly.
i happy really Happy Dr. Wolf I glad diamond tiara she a good with big heart yeahI like diamond tiara she good and I'm happy for her.
I cried because I was so darn happy for the Cutie Mark Crusaders to finally earn their cutie marks!!!!😂 Also I can't wait to see Diamond Tiara in another episode now that she is reformed.
Awesome review!
how come you didn't keep the differently drawn doctor wolf
i cried my eyes out for real
Did you get your channel strike of or not :/
so does this mean the strike is gone???
This is my second favourite episode in season 5 HEC the MLP series!!
best episode ever
5:20 same lol
Very cool!
I came up with this theory back in 2015 on Deviant Art. AND I WAS RIGHT ^_^ Btw I believe that the episode wasn't out yet.
2nd best of the season IMO
honestly I don't think this episode was as special as everyone thought, "Oh no the bully has a bad homelife..." That's been done front and back, I can understand it working if it was revealed that Diamond Tiara was a bitch because she saw as a filly how cruel and manipulative her dad can be in the buisness world towards potential clients despite him trying to hide those efforts from her, there's a good motivation that also leads to some good humor opportunities. Also, this episode shows how underdeveloped Silver Spoon is as a character in her own marrits compared to Diamond Tiara, just because the bete bitch turns on the alpha bitch doesn't mean she is any less of a bitch herself.
yay you re uploaded it 😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸
2:38 GG drwolf, gg
I'm glad they got their cutie marks.
Fighting copyright jerks from Equestria. Nice job, Doctor W.
I don't think they actually CONFIRMED they're dead, they just strongly implied it.
The problem with an episode about the death of their parents is Hasbro won't do it because it is technically a children's show.
No, it's a wing
Hostile takeover coming for Twilight??? Ponymageddon part2?
good thing you can just flip the fliped video
Checkmate,TH-cam!!!
Yay cmc they got their cutie marks
TANK CHU DOCTHOR!!!!
I'm sad I couldn't laugh because I just watched the keepers of discord so good so sad :,(
Top 5
Glad you did a review, I saw TheBigRob729 made a review of it. CHECK IT OUT!
BlackburnBigdragon
I think each of the colors is a representation of the crusaders.
Sarah Schuster opinion
one of many bad episodes in season 5
Honestly, the cutiemark designs are really bad.
+Bluehorsebutt We'll get used to it))) IMHO we just not used to it yet for not being blank!)
