Been using the Action Cam 3 for over a year and it is hands down better than any gopro I have used. The thing I like the most is the battery life. Almost 2 hours of footage on 4k is 3 times better than gopro and you don't have to buy extra or special battery's.
Battery life is definitely great! I got the Adventure bundle that comes with two extra batteries, and I haven't even opened them yet because it never dies haha
You've just sold me on an Action 4. I constantly get frustrated with the bottom 3rd of the video looking distractingly awful on riding action vids. Your demo here at 9:50 onwards with the ND filter and slower shutter speeds clearly shows a massive improvement to the bottom 3rd of the video. It looks naturally blurred as motion should and not choppy pixilated stutters. I always thought this was something to do just with TH-cam but it clearly starts with choosing the correct shutter speed. Thanks. Appreciated.

The Action 3 was really good and because the Action 4 works great with the DJI Mic 2 and the GPS remote I switched to the A4. I bought an Action 5 and honestly I didn't need to. The Action 4 has a much better normal color profile so I don't have to do any color corrections. The extra features of the A5 don't justify upgrading and I tell people if they don't already have an action camera and want one, get the Action 4.

Very good video I really love my action 4 but I noticed for atleast what my settings were that in the dark its very hard to see what the camera was recording and just became very shaky thats the only thing I hate about my camera but overall I love the camera
I have the osmo 3. Maybe the 4 is tougher, but my 3 on my very first lap it cracked the front screen from roost. That has never happened to any of my gopros. Dji did replace it under the repair and replace program. Ever since then, I have stopped using it for motocross.
I use the external mic for vlogging with the Action 4, but I actually just use the onboard microphone for riding footage. I use a foam wind cover to block out wind noise
Hi jeff, I have one more question(sorry I know I'm asking allot), in my gopro videos is a weird sound. It sounds like the gopro is moving in the case, but when I check, the gopro is still. I will be really greatful, if you would do 2 clicks and go to one of my gopro videos to hear for yourself. I'm not writing you just to check my chanell or to get views or anything like that but your opinion. What protecion do you recomend for a action camera(gopro) I use gopro's protective housing. Hey Jeff, what video editing software do you use, PC or MAC? Besides 4k 30fps what other setting do you set on the DJI? Im a woods rider and just got the DJI, video looks great just can’t edit it on my phone with the default app, files are too big.
I've used Davinci Resolve for video editing ever since the beginning of my channel. It's free and works great! They have a paid upgraded version with more features if you end up wanting to do that, but totally unnecessary. I've had a decent PC since 2020 that I've edited on for the last few years, but I picked up a Macbook Pro with an M2 chip last month and it is an absolute MONSTER for editing. Highly recommend going that route (unless you also want to do some gaming. Then build a PC)
One quick question, I film with 4k gopro 12. But when I upload to youtube the quality isnt that good, you maybe know what im doing wrong? Huge fan, nice vid.
What editing software do you use to edit and export the footage? A lot of it comes down to your export settings. I use davinci resolve, and I have to crank the export bitrate up to 150,000 just to get decent results.
Jeff already answered, but your problem is 100% with your export settings. When you export, your final file type should be h.264 with a VERY high bitrate like Jeff mentioned. Export to 1440p (2k).

Pretty confident you'll be happy with that decision! You really can't go wrong with either one, but I'll personally be using DJI for the foreseeable future.
Have you had any issues with the front screen cracking? My second ride with it and the front screen got hit with a rock and shattered. Camera still works great though

@koolgbe I didn't say it doesn't work. It's just nothing compared to the gopro app. I own both cameras btw. The dji app is very basic bare bones compared to the gopro app. If you're planning on using your phone to save and edit videos the gopro app wins that by far.

Unfortunately all action cameras use digital stabilization which works by lining up pixels from the previous frame to the current frame. When you run a ton of motion blur, the software has a hard time accurately lining up the pixels because they’re blurry instead of nice and sharp. As you introduce more motion blur, the stabilization will get worse and worse. Try running a 4x shutter speed (1/120) instead of 2x (1/60). For reference, I almost always use 1/240 and an ND8 filter which gives me a bit of motion blur, but also preserves the stabilization

The 360 cams really shine if you're using a chest mount, but the standard action cameras are much better for helmet-mounted filming for sure

Jeff, what settings are you using? I use a GoPro hero 8- 2.7 30 frames superview. Works great for hare scrambles, but time to upgrade cameras.

You should totally make a video comparing the raw audio of all the different action cams at the tracks with your various mics

You didn’t talk about the app. Gopro has a decent app so you can edit your videos with your phone. The dji app isn't very good.

I thought helmet cams are banned in pro motocross
Unfortunately they are banned at AMA sanctioned races. I use a chest cam at races for that reason
