    Apologies for the sound. It was the first time that I had used my new Drift camera and wasn't completely up to speed with it, too loud and distorted.
    As usual, this is MY take on the bike and there's a bit of fooling around. It my usual reviewing style but I do add specifications and facts at the end.
    Hope you enjoy!
    Tally Bally Ho! :-)

    My harley has instant throttle response, twist the throttle and the very next day you accelerate.

      :-) Brilliant. :-)
      Could you imagine Harleys with ride by wire?! Hardened bikers would be revving in their graves!! ;-)

    • @That_Paul_Guy
      @That_Paul_Guy 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Captain Rambunctious There are models with ride by wire. My 2011 Road Glide had it. The touring bikes (maybe other models as well) have a CANBUS system on them now.

      ***** Oh I don't doubt it! I was merely being facetious and making an easy joke at Harley riders' expense. :-) But interesting that they do, all the same!

      harleyman5521 If you must, then Ride a Harley V-Rod...it has enough Thrust to leave it's Agricultural Air Cooled Brethren in the dust.

    I had the Tbird 1600 ABS in for it's 6k service yesterday, and had a chance to ride the 2013 Tiger. I am impressed with it. It handles good, and is fun to ride, but even a used one with no throttle by wire or the other gizmos comes in more expensive than my used Bird.
    So, I like it a bunch, but not quite enough to trade the Bird for it. I have put 2500 miles on the Bird since I bought it two months ago, and commute on it regularly, so it's been really worth it, and has cleaned up nicely. Being a former Buell owner, I do like the riding position and the handling of the Tiger, but as Adventure bikes have taken off in the past couple of years, the used market is not as soft as it is for cruisers.
    Looking forward to seeing the new Explorer, and hoping to see a review by the good Captain when it does in fact appear.

      +Stretch Man Thank you for watching and for your comment! Just posting a review of the Speed Triple first. Am hopefully going to ride the New Explorer this week or next, so it should be up soon! :-)
      Ride safely and apologies for the tardiness in reply, I've been somewhat busy of late!

    I do enjoy these bike reviews of yours, young Cap'n. Pure exuberance on two wheels. This bike is on my list as a contender for replacing my now rather elderly Thunderbird 900, as it happens, so your review was doubly welcome.

    I must say your review is rather stupendously entertaining indeed Captain - jolly good I say! I am thinking of returning to biking after a nearly 10 years and being extremely vertically challenged (inside leg is 28") and hardly any decent bikes with appropriate seat height for me!! So, XRX with the low seat is a contender and F800GT. Although I have seen some excited reviews of the R1200RS but the hefty weight puts me off !! What a dilemma for all the vertically challenged people, eh? Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed your video.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Catspectful Thank you very much! :-) I'd say that if your inside leg is 28", you wouldn't go wrong with a new Street Twin or Street Triple but it depends on what you are going to use the bike for...
      Check out my latest review of the Street Twin, see what you think...
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Excellent review Captain. I test rode one recently (video on my channel - sorry for the plug), and agree with all your comments. As soon as my piggy bank is full, I will smash it up and go and buy one. I loved it!

    Entertaining review as always old chap! I found the 800 a little easy to stall too, but it has a very big 1st gear, so once you get past the stall speed I preferred that to my X (wasn't looking for 2nd quite so early).
    Comfy is good at my age, why I ride an adventure style bike, but I can't afford that one, much as I love it.

    Hello Captain! Good to have you back! I've tried one of those Tigers myself. I divorced her and now she's my Tiger X! Sorry about that... It is a lovely machine, I agree. One make friends with it before the first corner. And it is a Defender on 2 wheels...well not the acceleration of course! What's next? The BMW 9T? Take care and thanks for sharing! John

      @CaptainRambunctious  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching John. I have my eye set straight at BMW next. Just need to get the chance to go there and play with the RnineT, the S1000RR and the 1200GS. :-)

    • @johnDukemaster
      @johnDukemaster 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So little time, so many bikes! I tried the NineT, you know. But I could feel the engine pulling the bike aside when revving it up, due to the boxerengine. Didn't like that at all! Every BMW rider says it doesn't...am I really the only one experienced that? Have a go Captain!

    Enjoyed the review, thank you sir! Did you find the engine smoother and more powerful than the Tiger 800 you test rode? It's been tweaked, apparently! How about a test ride on a Sprint? 130 bhp and 150 mph. Worth a "Tally ho" methinks:-)

    Tally Bally good show old boy! Quite a fine machine. Sounds great and you certainly seemed to enjoy yourself! Impressive that such a physically big bike feels light. Well done Triumph.

    Enjoyed your review. Nice extras on the new Tiger 800. Mine is 18 months old & since I added the arrow exhaust I love the sound.. Mine has the baffle that is a pita to remove so its stayed. Agree about the screen. I have the taller one - ugly but necessary as I hate being windswept. It's a really comfortable long distance ride- no numb bum for me and has enough power to make me smile. Love my triumph ❤

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cat Dragon Yes indeed! Don't we all love our Triumphs?! :-)
      I rode the 800XC a while ago and really liked it but found it a bit bland. This one has some aggression and tenacity but is also ridiculously smooth too! :-)

  • @SkeggyCruiser
    @SkeggyCruiser 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've come to the conclusion that I don't like screens now as every time I've altered mine I've ended up with buffeting, can't get my head around the Tigers whether I like them or not, they all seem unnecessarily tall, and nobody who owns them seems to ever go off road or does major touring, how do you manage to test ride all these triumphs, are they expecting you to make your mind up eventually, lol, we only have used bike sales here, :-( I thought that had ABS as standard but the front discs looked pretty standard, good video bro RSM8.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Skeggy Cruiser Thanks Skeggy. Yes, ABS as standard. The ABS sensor must have been hiding!
      Screen annoy me, especially as I have never really had one and can't understand why there seems to be more wind noise WITH one than without?!
      They really don't feel tall, but just seem to me to be the Land Rover Defender (light version) of the adventure market. So for many, spend most of their lives on the road, but when needs must, they are more than happy off road!
      I get to ride them because the Triumph Dealer likes my videos and knows that I'm a massive Triumph fan. He's also had 2 sales of Scramblers off the back of my Scrambler video, and he doesn't have to pay me for all this free advertising! However, I am honest, and if there's something that I don't like, I do say so... :-) I wasn't a great fan of the Thunderbird LT, the panniers and floorboards just made it seem wallowy...
      As always, honoured that you watched dear sir! Love watching you on a Thursday night and well done for winning the quiz!
      Tally Bally Ho!

    Given the choice between the Tiger and the GS, I'd much rather have the GS, more comfy on the motorway, and I find the handling somewhat more predictable on 'shitty roads', but I am a BMW 1200r owner so did not have to adapt to the BMW quirks. That said if I was commuting in town I'd take the Triumph as its narrower. Good review though, and they do sound bloody lovely.

      semajohn89 I owned one for 6 months. Amazing bike. Check out my reveal video from September 2015. The only reason I got rid of it was that the Thruxton r came out and it was the perfect bike for me!

    • @semajohn
      @semajohn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Captain Rambunctious
      I'm new to your channel and did see the later video, of you explaining your reason for getting rid of the Tiger. And it's the same reason that worries me. It's a safe option.
      I was (until I wrote it off) riding a Tuono 1000r. Great bike but not one for hours in the saddle.
      I did strongly consider the KTM 1090 adventure. But, at £11,300 and no secondhand ones on the market. It's a lot of money for the basics.
      Then I took interested in the Triumph Tiger 800 XTR. All the creature comforts, enough power for all year round commuting and plenty of comfort for the odd long journey.
      But the Triumph has about half the torque of the KTM and possibly half the fun. And I too, may find myself bored after the honeymoon period on the Tiger.
      Sorry to waffle on but you, as well as some other bloggers have all had the same thoughts. The Tiger is a great bike but not an exciting bike.
      This could be why a year old Tiger that cost £10,900 can be had for £8,500. Because they soon become dull.
      I may be very wrong and until I get out of my plaster cast (the Tuono off was last month) and get some test rides. I have no idea if either bike is for me.
      I'm now subscribed to your channel and look forward to more great reviews.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      semajohn89 yes. Well, if it were not for the Thruxton I would still have the Tiger. And actually, it was great fun. Took it on road trips and kept up comfortably with my mates in street triples... check the Newquay trip...
      It IS exciting, and does everything very well, but personally I would get the Tiger Sport. The new one is incredible and if you aren't going off road, handles much better too if that were possible anyway?
      Hope this helps. Hope your injuries heal well.

    If I ever get a second bike, I'd really consider one of these versatile adventure bikes. I'd love to try ride by wire too. Was this a Triumph demo day? Sure wish Triumph offered these in the states.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SoopaBee It wasn't a Triumph day. I am blessed with having gushed about how much I love Triumphs to the right dealer manager who lets me ride what I like when I like. He's had a couple of Scramblers sold off the back of my Scrambler video, so he sees my videos as rather a free blessing to him!
      I get nothing back, apart from the ability to try out the new bikes when I like and speak honestly about them. A couple I haven't been so favourable about, but he doesn't mind.
      I think someone wants me to have a bit of fun on the Bonnie America next. And I'd like to ride the Rocket III again. Now I know what to expect, I should enjoy it more the second time as I won't be so nervous...

      Captain Rambunctious Now that's the way to do it! It is all about relationships isn't it.
      Yeah, I'm not done with the cruisers. Love mine. But I sure would like something a little lighter, maybe a little more nimble, and something versatile would be nice. As a second bike of course. But I guess step one is the make sure I've got the funds available... Great review man!

    I purchased the 800 XCA and I absolutely love it ! Did you hang on to your Tiger Captain?

      I'm afraid I'm only a one bike man, so it's the Thruxton R all the way for me!

      That is most sensible. I've got three and I need to pair it down to two bikes. I've got my 2014 Bonnie T-100, 2015 T-bird Nightstorm and the new 2016 Tiger 800 XCA. The Nightstorm is for sale. Cruisers I found, aren't my gig. It's a splendidly beautiful bike, but I don't need three. I'm so happy with the Tiger. It's such a fantastic machine. My dream bike. I went a bit bonkers the last few years buying every Triumph I've come across...lol
      Cheers Mate !

      After this one, all mic settings are at their lowest... :-)
      I even more than halved the volume in the edit! :-)

    i found the screen really buffered my head! Otherwise loved this bike.

      I have just uploaded an additional video where they had put on the taller screen and it's much improved. As like you, I found the buffeting at my visor rather bad, but the taller screen is much better.
      Thanks for watching and the comment!

    I wonder if I can find gloves like yours here in darkest Africa. I need to fly the flag down here in the former colonies.

      I'm sure you could get them posted... I think quite a few dealers still have them online...
