I have always liked these z28’s with these headlights. The newer ones of this generation looked like a Sebring with the different headlights. Do more videos on this Z28. With auto maybe put a nitrous kit on it. Flick the switch like mad max.
I bought my 93 Z28 last year for 1,900 off a wholesale lot last year. 82,000 miles. Previously had one before this so I knew what I was getting. That Z28 you got is clean, I would of expected the dash to be broken to pieces so it looks great the way it is. You should have a vented optispark wich makes that a plus.
As a fellow 4th gen and F-Body guy I say Keep it!! I subbed when you bought the last red one. I think it was a 94. I'm not gonna lie I unsubscribed when you sold it your cousin(I think it was?). Now I've subbed again!!! Keep the Camaro 4th gen and LT1 content alive! 🙏
Friend. If it is a '96, make sure you use Dex-Cool (Orange) Coolant; never use green Coolant with All GM Vechiles 1995 & Newer. I have a 2006 Cadillac DTS, and I use 50/50 Mix of Concentrated Prestone Dex-Cool/Deionized Water. Best Mix for your Cooling System, and your car will thank you for it 😁. By all means, avoid Green Coolant; because it'll burn your Head Gasket.
I just got done paying a co-worker 9 grand for a 95 trans am convertible with a 6-speed. 80,000 original miles. I think you got a good deal in my opinion the car looks clean.
Back in January, I bought a 1997 SS for $1600!! Engine is seized (no problem for me), leather seats in excellent shape, 100% original, level 2 suspension, TOTL exhaust, A4, hard roof, 109,000 miles. Years ago, i had a 1993 z28 that I had built a stout LT1 for. Of the MANY pony cars and muscle cars that I’ve owned, the 4th gen is the most enjoyable to drive. They were never my #1 car in the looks department, but they are definitely #1 for all-around performance.
@@ReynoldsRides I’m still trying to decide if I should rebuild the original engine back to stock or pull it out and use another block to build a 383. I usually build my engines for lots of power, but this car is clean and it is the real deal SS, so I’m tempted to keep it numbers matching and stock. Not sure what to do yet, but I have a Nova SS with a very nice 409 cid small block for smiles, so I could stand to keep one car stockish.
sweet! good deal for 3k. few usual fixes here & there (heard the squeaky serpentine belt & other squeaks n rattles on the drive to the gas station - maybe shocks, bushings, etc) and a good detail and it's good. no reason to go too crazy on a car with that much mileage. if you decide to sell, let me know before you list it (keep my handle saved)... 😉
Bought my '96 Z28 ten years ago; wouldnt trade it for any other car or any amount of money. I'd keep it. Looks like it is in decent shape and Id love to see what it turns into. LT1 4th gens get dogged on too much. Love the 4th gen fbody content. Keep it up 😁
@@ReynoldsRides yes and no. I spun a rod bearing in 2020 at 175,000; oil sending unit failed. Been saving up to fix it. It will be fixed in the Fall of this year. Makes me want to document my build. Im an encyclopedia for these cars, if you have questions about them, then let me know!
@@wob6776 The build isnt done yet. New engine is in and trans and rear is next. Should be done in a few weeks. Engine made 520hp and 485tq on the dyno. I'll make some videos for sure!
I have a base '96 camaro with mystic teal just like yours, but it has dual stripes. Only difference is I have the t-tops. My dash is cracked to hell lol.
You can can get a cover for the dash that looks stock. Goes right over the top. There's simple mods like exhaust and headers that would really wake up the motor and make it sound great, even better mileage. A lot of miles but still a good deal because the bones and motors are relatively decent on 4th gens. Wheel upgrade isn't too expensive either. The ss or zr1 wheel replicas are pretty affordable and a good upgrade if/when u need tires. Plenty of people swap the motors with a 5.3 from a truck and start modding them from there. I have a 2000, love it and it's pretty dang reliable. Makes tons of power after a cam, intake and exhaust.
My son traded an old Honda 3 wheeler for 95 z28 t tops black leather 6 speed head gasket leak now has rebuilt engine and big cam super nice no rust not wrecked have around 3,500 dollars in it

I’ve been itching to get one of these. I’ve got a dealership near me for a purple 1996 Z28 with 58k mileage for only 9k but idk how to tell if that’s a good deal. Imma have to check the car fax on it
Very nice z28! I have the same (full stock) in black and its hard to find a nice camaro like these now. I'm in France, is it legal in usa/canado to remove the numberplate ?
Looks like I was correct on my guess of an F body. I'd say keep it. I paid 3500 about three weeks ago for a really clean low mileage Firebird so I think 3k on a Z28 regardless of miles is a pretty good deal all things considered.
I bought it with 107K and some change and as of now it has 108K on it. Funnily enough your channel was one of the places that got me interested in F cars, and this is coming from a guy who had three Mustangs (but does still own one)!
Displaced Utahn in Baltimore here! I've had my 95 Z28 Convertible for ten years now! Just rolled over 200k miles and put in a fresh Corvette LT1! Nice catch! Keep it, or sell it if the price is right! Just curious, how's the rag joint?
@@ReynoldsRides The rag joint connects the upper and lower halves of the steering shaft held in place by rivets. It's a disk made of rubber impregnated cloth. It's there to absorb road impact and vibration. After a while the materials wear down and the rivet holes get wallowed out and allow play in the steering. If your 4th gen F-body has any play in the steering it's probably why. Of course, check the condition of the tie rods and steering rack as well. It's easy to check. Locate it under the plastic shield on the steering shaft just above the steering rack. Put your hand on it so that you can feel the upper and lower portions of the shaft. Have an assistant move the steering wheel back and forth. If there's play, you will feel the upper portion rotate a little farther than the lower portion. If it's bad enough, you can see the play in the joint. The 4th gen F-body has a rack and pinion steering that is super precise. It should be BMW-like in it's steering reflexes. When the rag joint wears, it gets sloppy. I recommend a rag joint eliminator kit from Unbalanced Engineering. It uses a metal disk in place of the rubber impregnated one and replaces the rivets with bolts and nuts. I have one in my 95 Z28, as well as my 03 GMC Sonoma. Say! Replacing one would make for a great video! By the way, GM used a different steering shaft in the later LS1 F-body that didn't have a rag joint.
All I can say is I bought a 1996 Camaro Z28 hard top six speed in decent shape for $2800. I honestly can't go many places without someone asking if I would sell it where the hard top six speed cars are hard to find.ive been offered $7000 for it before people really admire these cars and where they've been ragged and wreaked they're hard to find. I think you got this car for a steal. I'm pretty sure that I overpaid at $7000 (including shipping, taxes and tags) for my 1993 Z28 which had 77,000 original miles but it is in mostly great shape. I still ended up spending another $4600 for major maintenance work into it. - Changed and/or flushed all of the fluids (oil, coolant, transmission, power steering, and differential) - New ACDelco plugs and plug wires - Remanufactured ACDelco optispark distributor - New ACDelco water pump - New tires - And a slew of interior and exterior cosmetic fixes (front, rear, and side light assemblies, headlamps, hood and trunk lid struts, dash and shifter bulbs, control knobs, etc.) Even after spending all that money, I still think the car is worth it and I plan on holding onto it for several years.
Yeah $3k for a camaro is good. Currently looking for a similar ( if not cheaper hhaha) manual Camaro . Honestly have a Ford Focus that I've spent too much in maintenance ( $20k in 7 years, extortionists Focus ) and am looking at Mustangs too. Mustang V6s dont have Limited Slip Diffs factory tho. Gen 4 Camaros do. Well see who steps up first. Like both styles. Both an upgrade and worth keeping in the fleet for upgrades despite maintenance. Thanks for the video and price info.
