Good video Dennis. I don't own a e-bike (yet), but I love how it brings more people into the sport. Fitness is no longer a pre-requisite to be able to enjoy the trails. Thanks for the shoutout brotha!
My personal opinion is that if you are downhill mountain biking, like at a bike park, an e bike is not good but if you are at any other trail system that you might have to pedal back up, then an e bike is awesome! Nice video!
Very good points in the video. I've recently bought my first full powered e-bike and it has absolutely changed how I look at riding. I think one of thr biggest changes is you look at climbs differently. No longer are they the necessity to get to a down hill. I now look at climbs almost like a downhill run. You power up them and enjoy far more technically challenging climbs as part of the ride. You can test yourself on uphill that you almost certainly could NEVER even attempt to ride up on an analogue bike. As for fitness you still 100% get steady state cardiovascular work outs for far longer on an e bike. The idea that the bike does all the work is ridiculous and likely only a held belief by someone who has never truly ridden an ebike properly. Also for the absolute fitness fanatics that shun full power bikes could still get the same level of enjoyment from a SL ebike. I think everyone going forward, that isn't a full blown xc racer, should buy some form of e bike over an analogue.
@@ajow2828 1000% the pros just outweigh the cons imo. For me, I just want the most out of my day off. I can’t spend all day trying to refine my jumping or cornering when I only have a limited time to do it. I’ve also seen a lot of tests where people burn similar calories riding e bikes. I’ve found myself that I take far fewer breaks when on the e-bike, so my heart rate stays up a lot more and more consistently. Like you said, anyone who isn’t an XC racer can benefit from one of these things. Sooner or later, I do believe they will just be looked at to how we look as bike suspension and 29 wheels.

Fantastic video. We need more people in the sport enjoying it. E-Bikes afford people this opportunity. Hopefully they continue to come down in price and get even more accessible for future riders!
I started riding mountain bikes in the early 90"s. I do remember the first full suspension bikes. And the thing I remember is most people said they were for down hill only because they didn't pedal efficiently so some people hated. This video is awesome. I greed with everything you said about E bikes. Bottom line is all bikes are fun quit hating go have FUN!! Life's short.
@@stevemendelson4711 thanks for watching buddy, I appreciate it. I raced bmx in the late 90’s, but I have no frame of reference for the mountain bikes or the day. They’ve evolved so much that I think people forget that the origin of Mtb was just stiff hardtails bombing down fire roads. I just don’t like gate keeping. Just enjoy it, like you said.
Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about what others think and for the most part you won’t convince them… like elections, very polarizing. I’m also at the point of heavily weighing getting one. One of our rider group has one, so it’s only a matter of time. Looking at how he uses it, I don’t see it really giving me a lot more riding within the same amount of time, most rides 1-3hrs. What I see, it “extending” my ride when my fitness gives out after 4 hrs or 4k+ of climbing… so more epic rides OR on days when I should be recovering and my fitness is subpar.
I'm just a regular guy. Having an ebike gets my disabled butt on a bike when I otherwise couldn't. Walking after a seizure is hard enough, with an ebike I can still get stuff done.

Endurance is different. E bike don't last long enough for the rides I do. You can't get 6,000 feet of climbing out of an e bike. I would need 2 or three batteries that are swappable.
That’s assuming you put in the same effort… it’s a tool and people will use it as they please. However, having that assist, I would tend to believe many would “soft” pedal because they can. As in, you have to be very motivated and diligent to put in the effort.
@ you can also soft pedal on a normal bike. Youll just be really slow. I personally feel more inclined to push to my limit on an ebike because it feels like i can actually get more out of it
@@davinci69 sure, but on inclines there's a point when you can only pedal so slowly and still make it up. These motors can provide up 300-400% assistance. Yes, you can put in the same power and travel at a much higher speed uphill at the expense of battery life.

Climbing fitness isnt different on an ebike unless youre lazy. An ebike just allows you to go faster with the same effort.
