A shocking tale of Murder in the outskirts of Burnley. A really interesting story that would of shook the town to its core. Truly horrific. Thanks Chris
I'd heard of this story a few years ago and was always intrigued as to why John Blackburn did what he did. Jealous of another man being with young Jane? I'm not sure. I think he was 'jealous' of another person taking his job and he just snapped. We will be going back to re-record the story as an out and about video. The original sound was corrupt so couldn't use any of the footage we took last week 😕
Thanks John. We actually went over there to film the story but when we got home the audio was terrible. So much wind interference made it hard to hear us talking 🫤
Thank you 😊 This is one we are planning on filming. The only issue is, we have reached out to the owners of Savile Green Farm, but they haven't replied back. We can still film the story, but it would be from a country lane as we wouldn't trespass onto their property. It would have been ideal, though, to get a close-up of the yard and where this story actually took place.
What a bizarre murder suicide. What on earth was his state of mind at the time. So many questions and no answers that even close to understanding. Well presented.
We have tried to reach out to the owners of Saville Green Farm in the hope of filming close to the old farm building, but so far havent heard anything back. We aren't that surprised as it is a family run business now operating from there.
My dad told m this story he was 12and a paperboy said public cud not get enough papers and he eas running from stoops in burnley al day with the papers
Its a sickening story as well. So many innocent people killed over what? It just all seems surreal to me. We actually went to do a video of this story, but the audio was absolutely terrible due to wind contamination. It just never stopped howling around us. We might revisit this though as we do have more information since we did the podcast.
The bodies were taken by my stepfather Mr George Wells coal merchant of Padiham on the back of his Bedford lorry covered by a wagon sheets to the Padiham Mortuary after he and his wagon were requsitioned by a police se rgent in Padiham he was accompanied by his employee a Mr Richard Trelfall who made the comment " lf we passed a tram bus and the cover blew off what would happen?" This story was told many times arround the family. I first heard it about about 1952.
Thanks Alan for this. The more we engage with people who know more about these stories, the more we learn. We are thinking of videoing this story and have emailed the owners of the premises to ask if we can possibly film a short segment on their land, but as of yet, they haven't replied. We know we could film from the lane, but it would be better to be up closer to the property.

Wow 😲 how horrific to end the lives of a whole family. So sad😢 thanks for sharing.
We are thinking of going back to do a video on this story but it all depends on if we can be allowed access onto the property.
Keep up the Brilliant Work Mate
