I'm sure the tank crew appreciates operating a vehicle with tons of exposed track in user areas, I'm naming mine "the Pinch Point" and making sure the crew models only have 2-3 fingers per hand
Tank crews actually prefer to have exposed track, makes both track/running gear maintenance and repair much much much easier. I cannot emphasize the word much enough here. Also it’s not really an issue for stuff getting “pinched” track segments are pretty large and the gaps between them are also pretty large, so unless you get something caught while on the move (which shouldn’t have been there in the first place), you will have no issues. The only real downside to exposed tracks is they kick up a metric ton of dust which makes it easier for the enemy to spot your tank formation at a distance.

Yes I know it's fantasy, but the gun mantle on that Malcador is such a massive shot trap that the rules should include a drop in armour by 2 points if the shooter rolls a six to hit.
Question: isnt Solar Auxiliar responsible for protecting Solar system and template from whitch Imperial Guard is created ? It would then make sense that they are high-tech but at the same time antique.
Technically the Solar Auxilla are the precursor for the Guard but are more like a Guard/Scions hybrid. Elite mortal human warriors meant to garrison and sweep up worlds so the Marines can keep moving forward. They're called the Solar Auxilla because originally they were just drawn from the various cultures in the Solar System but they've expanded with the Expeditionary Fleets. IIRC they don't actually exist in "modern" M41, at least not like how they used to be.
Sort of. They're meant to supplement the Legio Astartes in the lore. So in 40K, Space Marines are quite rare in the lore, but in 30K they were the bulk of Terra's armies.
They were the middle ground between imperial army and astartes. Normal humans with armored voidsuits and at the start of the great crusade had volkite weapons as standard issue (slowly phased out for lasguns, volkite hard to make). They were often even sent on their own as expeditionary fleets.
I hope the Malcador gets rules since it was a 40K tank that was in action in lore in 40K and even the death Korpe of Krige use them in 40K so hopefully GW makes them 40K rules.
It does currently have rules! It's not bad, kinda competes with the Rogal Dorn for a role (a little less firepower, has -1 damage instead of ablative plating, 250pts at time of comment), makes a convincing argument for being a slightly more points budget friendly heavy tank. The malcador variants, on the other hand, are way to points expensive to be any good rn. Hopefully those get a points buff, because their rules are not terrible but they're just expensive for the firepower. Also the Valdor is kinda terrible sadly.

Doubling up on the leman russ isn't really any different from doubling up on the Predator for heresy space marines. This new mars alpha variant looks great and it's good to see a return of various OOP turrets from the krieg range. As much as i liked the new reveals, especially since I play guard, I cant help but feel they were a little light on the reveals. All we got for 40k was was the Kroot, which granted was MASSIVE for Tau players, and the Mandrakes which are technically for killteam and having them for 40k is just a bonus. Aside from 40k though, there were a few Sugmar reveals and the Auxilia for 30k, but that's about it. There was no Legions Imperialis, there was no Blood Bowl, there was no Old World, and no reveals for for the 3 whole other 40k factions that are supposed to be getting their codexes around the same time as the Tau. It just feels like there should have been a little more.
I would prefer rules to match the ideal. In 30k rules there are some good vehicles, but it was Squadron rules that were more interesting. A group of 2-3 Leman Russ tanks were better than a Malcador. Unless they make elite Leman Russ tanks with stats its not that interesting. A really cool Malcador model doesnt change that numbers matter. The Rogal Dorn heavy tank coming out was a big deal because its actually got better guns than the Leman Russ, making it an actual heavy tank instead of just being a bigger tank. The Malcador was a failure but way back Forge World released the next one, the Macharius. WHile the Machrius didnt have better armor or guns than a Leman Russ, it did carry twin main guns. The Macharius heavy tank also had a new tank gun, the Vulcan Mega Bolter, which was very impressive at killing MEQs like Necrons and Chaos Space Marines.
Funny you say Boston’s for the sentinel… I had steampunk on my mind. All of the extra pistons and more squat look make it seem like an absolute unit of a sentinel and nearly more realistic than the star wars style light walker sentinels we have always had in 40k
It's about time GW released SOMETHING good. It's been years since they bothered putting effort into anything. I'll be grabbing a entire platoon of Malcadors
I'm getting at least one (probably 3) Malcadors, and I don’t care if it goes to legacy in the next edition or two, always loved those tanks in the fluff, I'll probably get one of the new Russ's for a fun project eventually too
It very much saddens me that the Solar Auxilia wont be added as their own army into the 40k scene. Would have made a really nice extra army to play with unique rules outside of the guard. Oh well. Plastic Malcador looks very nice though, I have a resin 1 and it was a bit of a headache to make.
Canonically, their role would be taken up by the Militarum Tempestus as elite of the elite of mortal humans. So I guess it wont be too bad of an idea to proxy Solar Auxilia models as Tempestus Scions (or even as Kasrkins) considering both wear void suits with carapace armor and are armed with more powerful lasguns.
@@cleeiii357 Yeah, but you have a lot of unique side stuff with the Auxilia, like the squads of flamer troops, power axes, etc which would be pretty fun to see. Also canon wise, with primarchs returning, it wouldnt be too hard to retcon/reinvent the auxilia as being rebuilt by them from the sol system to join them on a new crusade to bulk up the other groups as heavy armoured infantry instead of commando/strike infantry like Tempestus/Kasrkins are.
@@jameswilliams3304 We already have smurfs sir. Also, packed into 1? Why limit to only 1 game system when you make models that you could easily fit into 2 game systems, diversification is nice. Same goes for all the admech stuff, why limit to just 30k? Why not allow 40k players to also use stuff?
Let's summarize: GW knows that 40k will sell well in any case, and Horus Heresy success is not guaranteed. Therefore, GW makes a bad 40k game (10ED) and transfers iconic models from 40k (Leman Russ) to Heresy. It's a shitty business, don't you think? If there was no Heresy at all, all these models and rules would be legal in 40k, right? But what’s worst of all: the Heresy Community considers all this to be a personal merit, and not that GW is openly deceiving.

There was no Legions Imperialis, there was no Blood Bowl, there was no Old World, and no reveals for for the 3 whole other 40k factions that are supposed to be getting their codexes around the same time as the Tau. It just feels like there should have been a little more.
They also state none of the Solar stuff will get 40k rules, you can proxy them though... xD
Where are my plastic heresy mechanicum models?
Solar Auxillia giving me Ned Kelly vibes.
Funny you say Boston’s for the sentinel… I had steampunk on my mind. All of the extra pistons and more squat look make it seem like an absolute unit of a sentinel and nearly more realistic than the star wars style light walker sentinels we have always had in 40k
Those tanks are really tempting for my vostroyan first born force.
Like i dont know why but i think its all the decoration screams vostroyan
Also would look really nice in vostroyan colours.
These new vehicles are being shown in my colours of grey with green...
haha Kirioth said edging
It's about time GW released SOMETHING good. It's been years since they bothered putting effort into anything. I'll be grabbing a entire platoon of Malcadors
The plasma gun isn't a gun, it's a chub
I'm getting at least one (probably 3) Malcadors, and I don’t care if it goes to legacy in the next edition or two, always loved those tanks in the fluff, I'll probably get one of the new Russ's for a fun project eventually too
We need side sponsos for the Horus Heresy
man , could that malcador work as a rogal dorn proxy??? i dont like the rounded shapes of the rogal dorn
Lovely comparing and red penmanship man, great videos as always. Love your take on all these releases, keep it up 🫡 tanks very much 😋
5:05 to skip sponsor.
why cant you use the Malcador heavy tank in 40k? - I thought it was still in limited use by 40k timeline.
Its got imperial armour rules but I would expect it to move to horus heresy unfortunately.
Im a blood angels player, but damn that looks good
Hope the super chat helps you get at least %10 off the first malcahdor
TONKS!
The worst part of the new russ is the choad plasma
I will now play 30k
Let's summarize: GW knows that 40k will sell well in any case, and Horus Heresy success is not guaranteed. Therefore, GW makes a bad 40k game (10ED) and transfers iconic models from 40k (Leman Russ) to Heresy.
It's a shitty business, don't you think? If there was no Heresy at all, all these models and rules would be legal in 40k, right?
But what’s worst of all: the Heresy Community considers all this to be a personal merit, and not that GW is openly deceiving.
