The 3D graphics really are a big upgrade over the original--not so much from an "eye candy" perspective (the visuals are pretty minimalistic), but from a gameplay perspective. Because having a 3D view of the battlefield makes it a lot easier to assess lines of sight at a glance.
OK, great. So now I'm waiting for "ARMORED BRIGADE - WWII - Ostfront" to come. With the graphics and effects of "Gates of Hell - Ostfront" the turn based mode with replay function from "COMBAT MISSION" and a campaign map nearly as huge as it is in "Hearts of Iron IV".
It has better graphics than warno/regiments. Texture resolution is not the only thing that makes the graphics and sadly most developers just don't understand how to make consistent looks. AB/AB2 has huge potential in my opinion, but I can't really take seriously projects without a multiplayer.
AB2 is definitely not going to be replacing CMCW for me as my primary means of scratching my Cold War wargaming itch. But I'm pretty sure the BAOR module for CMCW will be the last addition to the CM2 lineup before they transition 100% of their efforts over to CM3. That means that, until they make a CM3 Cold War game, the only forces represented in Combat Mission in the Cold War period will be the US, Soviets, British, and Canadians. So I intend to play plenty of AB2 to get the German, French, Dutch, etc... perspectives that I won't be able to get in CMCW. So I personally see CMCW and AB2 as complimentary, rather than as being in competition with each other.
Imo there 2 dinfrant things ab2 is simulating large scale formations foucusing on the brigade size cmcw is on the battalion scale cm is much more micro foucsed on individual units while ab is more foucses on the palatoon or company sized units also cmcw as much as i Love it is neigh unplayable sometimes due to being memory issues
I'll be checking it out this weekend as just been given the key but its in the same week as STALKER 2 and MSFS 2024! Like come on lol! And I still have Sea Power to play, I need a clone of me!
Fren, ARMORED BRIGADE II looks like the extreme ugly and unloved step brother of Warnio or Wargame. Game graphics aren't the most important thing, but ARMORED BRIGADE I has more details and makes me feel like a real general because of the view from above while giving orders to my troops.
@ mate, by buying the game you are creating profit to the developer company . Company then pays taxes from the profit. More than 40% of Russian budged (which is formed from taxes) is spent on war. You do see here how directly your money result in the bomb that failing in my roof? Theres is nothing xenophobic about it, it’s not ideology or my judgement, it’s just how it is
@ you can even calculate how much money you invested in killing innocent people! Lets do fun math together: Lets say price of the game is 20Usd 30% takes steam so its 14$ for developers profit 25% is the tax so russian state will reicive 3.5$ from yoyr purchase 40% of budged is spent on the war, so in total you countribute 1.4$ DIRECTLY in Russian war effort
@@sobAKADUKA While I respect your perspective, the idea that playing or showcasing a game directly equates to support for a war is an oversimplification of economics, and arguably a misdirection of blame. If the goal is to reduce harm, perhaps energy would be better spent targeting systemic solutions rather than shaming individuals for their hobbies

No longer need to use that crazy topographic 'heat' map.. Seriously -- felt like I was playing Sim City back in the early 90's again
You have been THE guy i come to for reviews on these types of games for near on a decade. Glad you're covering this.
Glad to hear it RIk, thank you!
They really need to work on that pop-in, but otherwise I'm ok with the minimalist graphics considering the scale of the battlefields.
It almost like combat mission cold war
Hope Soviet tanks can see in this game unlike in CMCW
How do you make the writing larger, fonts real small on descriptions

So far, it looks an improvement from the first game and that Cobra was amazing. I will get it when I get the chance. Ty for the video 👍
Great video Agrippa

Does it have a terrain/faction editor and a record/replay function?
How are the frames, are they good? Or does it run like CM?
wiil there be air and anti air assets?????
Very good Video 😊. I Like the new graphic
Very nice very cool
Those BMPs are using smoke generators.
Does this game have any infantry gameplay at all?
yes
I prefer Combat Mission graphics, the models of tanks, vehicles, etc, are very well made.

i would prefer 2d but bigger maps
What did i hear about a Chechnya mod?
I have it here on the channel, youll likely find it if you type in agrippa maxentius chechen war or grozny
@@AgrippaMaxentius Thanks. I misheard you as saying you had mods for it. It was late and I was falling asleep.
We have combat mission at home:
Cobra.. a horrible but still pretty great Stallone movie :)
It says alot about cinema today that i'd rather watch Cobra than virtually any of the movies coming out now.

You can play it the same way. You don’t have to zoom into 3D view.
Fellas that is russian game, by buying it you are sponsoring fascism! Be carefull
Is it the Russian Government sponsoring this game, or just a Russian individual? Because by being Xenophobic you are being a fascist, be careful!

It's a finnish developer...
