Twinkle is an amazing woman, I’ve said how I felt about her in other videos... in every video I come across with her in it I’m more impressed with her ability to run a safe, fun place for these precious children to call home. They are islanders and this is the way they wanted to live,thats why their ancestors looked for such place to live their own way of living.(freedom). Polynesians discovered America before Christopher Columbus but they don't think about living in America..they wanted to live with there own way of living bcuz they're sea people.and some still wanna live like that til these days..

Second, had Hawaii never been a territory/state of the US, it would have been occupied by the Japanese around WWII. The Japanese were not the kind and caring people they are now. There would be no Hawaiian people left now, had that ever happened. Is the past perfect? No, certainly not. But Hawaii, particularly people with actual Hawaiian bloodlines, would actually be far worse off or not even exist at this point.

So the futile attempts of people to declare that Hawaii is an independent country is inherently false. Honestly though, Hawaii couldn’t stand on its own. It relies on federal funding and tourism. Awesome video and awesome work Aunty Twinkle does. I hope that community stays- sweep there and it solves nothing plus creates a new problem - the people won’t just magically disappear. Seems like a better “transition program” than the state government in any state could offer. Maybe that’s an answer, to officially treat it as a transition program and help Twinkle help the people.
If your not a resident you shouldn’t be allowed to be a land owner or develop. Seeing all of the over development and the fact that most Hawaiian have to move away to be able to take care of their ohana is so sad. Blessings to the Hawaiians keeping Hawai’i Hawaiian.
I understand the sentiment, but no state can pass such a law. Honestly all you have to do to be a “resident” is file an address change with the post office, and get a drivers license. Same as any state. I do agree that “vacation homes” is a ridiculous notion in a housing shortage. My take is that you spend 6 months (50% of the year) or have to forfeit the home. That makes sense, since some people would have to leave for work and such. Some people think there should be a priority on Hawaiian people, but the issue there is that not one person who is 100% Hawaiian exists anymore, and haven’t for many decades. So the question becomes who’s good enough for such programs and who’s not? 30%? 10%? How Hawaiian do you have to be. Nobody is above 40% anymore. In any case, if they passed a resident law, some selfish rich people would just get a drivers license and call it a day.

What about the ultimate infrastructure that would have to leave, like cell towers, road maintenance, dealerships, most of the governing body, etc? I know, it sounds good when you say it, but there’s several issues that would take decades to sort out. Everyone I ever met on Oahu was cool as long as you’re respectful. I doubt that many, that I knew, would be in favor of kicking someone who was born there off the island. It’s a muddy area, because in order to help certain people, we’d have to screw others who had never done anything wrong. It to me is a sensitive and complicated issue. Where I completely agree with you 100% is no more building. I was on Oahu from 97-2001 and it was bad then. I’ve heard it’s much worse now. Way overdeveloped. The other islands may be less developed, but for how long? When does it end? Will every island just become a city in the water? That would suck. My idea, to make homes more affordable to natives, Is a federal subsidy for anyone with 50%+ Hawaiian DNA markers. Take a cheek swab and if you’re 50%+ then you only pay a midrange fair market value on a home, equal to market value on the mainland in mid-markets, and the fed picks up the tab on the difference. So if you want a 3bd home, in decent shape, and it would go for 225K in like Virginia, but is 650K in Hawaii. The fed pays the difference between the 650K - 225K and you only pay the 225K on loan or cash, with an interest ceiling to protect against ballooning. Is it “give the islands back”? No, because that’s unreasonable and unrealistic at this point, see my prior points. But it is a way to create housing fairness and equality in housing for those who are of mostly Hawaiian blood, but can’t afford to buy in the current market. And that’s a reach for me, I’m a Republican. I’m generally against any assistance programs because they are theft through taxing others. But Hawaii and Hawaiians hold a special place in my heart, so I’d be in favor of additional assistance.

If you’re not Native Hawaiian (no matter blood quantum%) you may live In Hawaii under the Hawaiian Kingdoms Government and Lawful System (Different from Legal) No matter race, sex or nationality if born here or choose to be immigrated into our Nation. We will rebuild our EAducation, Ahupua’a, La’au La’pa’au, Lua/Koa, Trails/Roads/Parks/Beaches and universal sciences Kiai etc... if you choose to live here amazing. We were always so before our time. We had electricity in our Palace before the whitehouse and we were recognized as a nation before Japan along with knowing a minimum of 63 different types of winds, named them, and knew how to call them... you’re idea is nice but unfortunately you don’t understand our connection to our land.
Empress Ragga don’t get me wrong. I’d jump at the chance to short Democrats senate and house seats by releasing Hawaii from statehood lol. I’m just gauging where the fairness is, and to what extent say.... all the white,black,Asian etc... people are kicked out. Do they get compensated for their lost homes and careers? Do they get like a 5-10 year warning before being forced out? Does the military take back that equipment of the National Guard? There’s a LOT to unpack there.
What is the best way to help? Would it be donations, and if so what is the best thing or things to donate? This truly breaks my heart. I'm nearly 1/2 Hawaiian although I may not look it and my family has lived on and off of the beach before I was born. I spent the 1st decade of my life in public housing, lost 2 sister's to drugs, 1 sister went to prison and another was in and out of homeless shelter's with her kids for years. My Tutu was also beaten and ridiculed as a young girl in the early 1900's for speaking the only language she knew, Olelo Hawaii so to me it's one of my life goals to make a difference for Kanaka Maoli. Now at 38yrs old I'm happy to say I'm doing pretty good for myself, have a family of my own and just want to give back! I give donation's every paycheck but I feel it's not enough! I love our people and am raising my son to be a proud Hawaiian and wish more people would just truly live Aloha with no compromises.

So true.. I work a part time job and my rent get raise for the second time..now I'm one step away from been homeless for the second time.. My job just doesn't pay enough..I'm now 70 years old still working trying to support my dam self..
Here's the solution: 1.) High-density capsule apartment high rises with communal baths/restrooms/laundry at $300-400 per month. Modeled after Japan's capsule hotels, but slightly larger and limited to long-term [3-5 year] working residents... Also limited to mid-lower income workers. If you make over 30K you don't get priority. 2.) Restrictions on non-residents ability to purchase land/property. Hawaii should NOT be immediately accessible to the 300+ million population of the US. It's insane. 3.) CCTV monitored coin locker system to keep important items of working homeless from being stolen while sleeping, or on the job. Modeled after the Japanese system. 4.) Vandalism -resistant public restrooms located throughout the island(s). Perhaps modeled after the "Portland Loo." 5.) Reward local *working* homeless for being neat by not kicking them out of designated public areas. Create rules/regulations for neatness/cleanliness, and if those rules are consistently broken they have to leave... Moving homeless (especially those who work) from place to place with perpetual sweeps is pointless and counterproductive. 6.) Subsidize the construction of a few affordable Sento/Onsen-style public baths for everyone to promote cleanliness. Modeled after the Japanese system. 7.) Legalize the usage of modified Japanese "Kei Cars" exclusively in Hawaii. 8.) Remove the idiotic "Jones Act."

All people should have the right to live on the land if they choose to do so. A camp that is well maintained should be allowed & assisted to continue. I wish this could be done in the Los Angeles area & other places where the homeless are taking over the streets & sidewalks with their tents. Get them some land & assign a leader. Community pride needs no physical address.
Yes even those who have medical issues should be given a chance as well to live on the aina show it to those as well.... for instance drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abusive relations all given equal opportunity with regards to registering for programs and attending appointments for treatment! Equal opportunity not one chance two chance three chance you’re out! Get that working for those people as well! Stretching across the board to all!!!

There are steps that a person must take in order to pull themselves back into the world of what most people refer to as "NORMAL". Only those of us who have lost all hope know how to relate to the community that sits in fear of losing their freedom of choice. They should not become victims of the "moral majority"...in my view.

There’s a “flat screen TV” in that homeless camp. Is it any wonder why people from other countries “take their chances” illegally immigrating to the U.S.?
They should take a look at Austin Texas Community First! Village which is exactly what they are hoping for. To stay together as a community. But they need more than what they currently have, they need tiny homes, mobile homes, community kitchen, etc. The state should look into Austin Texas utopian homeless village as an example which is successful. It can very well work here. Most of the people here are just regular people/families that just can’t afford rent. They are good people with good hearts that help each other even when they don’t have much.
Some people can't work a job because of a disability, and yet their disability is not medically recognized. They need places like Twinkle is offering. Its so nice what she started for the people of Hawaii.
Go call your city council representative for waianae tupola. She is supposed to figure out a way to help the people in her district . That's what she was voted to do!
State of Hawaii should look to Aunty Twinkle Borge for leadership because it makes sense she has a successful encampment. Obviously the state has no idea what they are doing and if she helps she should get paid. I would humbly ask her. It really does take a village, that way we can start working on solutions.
Most of the land is either owned by the government, the state or the school district. If they freed up some of that land yes it would be affordable for a short time but then it would rise up again. Hawaii has beautiful weather almost 365 days it’s why people want to live here. Retired people will not bring their money here because the taxes are too high and that’s what you need to stimulate the economy more people who are spending money in the state but do not use the workforce. It’s why Florida has it huge range of different prices of homes. 12% income tax for the higher earners are going to drive that money away to another state.
Halona n Lualualei families do have land but they cannot build homes for their children because I believe it’s Homestead zoned 2 acres per house. If your property is facing County road you can build a house on 1/2 acre. Now if the Governor? Change the zoning, land owner can build for their children.
Anybody who isn't native Hawaiian or local(let's say 5 years or more living in Hawaii is considered local) and wants to move to Hawaii to buy a house or build a business should be taxed at twice the rate. Locals and Natives are connected to this home. They've built friendships, families, culture ect. They should take priority first and foremost. And although I believe all land can be respectfully shared, certain populations must be cratered to first. The tax revenue from those higher rates can be then used to fund housing. And deter out of state folks from moving there.
Twinkle doesnt onow anything about homelessness. I was homeless in hawaii after being arrested for not paying for my printed photographs in the right manner i told them to put it on the hotel bill and unfortunately that store did not accept it. I was arrested and held in prison for less then 20 minutes and cops stold my income. Boy oh boy i was given a token after going for medical care at the emergency department. A rich man in new york city had kicked me to the street and i had eights to that rich new york city apartment. Homeless for days only to return to clean my record hawaii is not fair to the homeless. There is no figure nor statistic that will stand up for this issue

(Berkshire actually) I have a multimillion pound house, that's my base - I have multimillion property in Portugal, for when I go surfing - The third property is in Toronto, 'cause I like the change in seasons, and unless you live in Scotland, we in England don't get much snow. All paid for in cash, and they're for my own private use, not buy to let situation as I don't need the revenue or the headache of rented them out. My London home is staffed, I have someone looking after the place in Portugal, and when Covid restrictions are lifted, i'll sort out Toronto. At the moment it's sitting idol since I closed on it. But as it's for personal use, I'm not worried. So just to recap, three properties, paid for in cash, not a 'Buy to Let' purchase. Anything else you want to get wrong?
How would they be freeloads, when the government took their land. They are owed free water, electricity, heat, what everything else they need. Nothing really has changed. I work a full time job that pays me quite well, and i have no Debt, No credit card debt, student loan Debt or a Mortgage... What about the ultimate infrastructure that would have to leave, like cell towers, road maintenance, dealerships, most of the governing body, etc?
I know, it sounds good when you say it, but there’s several issues that would take decades to sort out. Everyone I ever met on Oahu was cool as long as you’re respectful. I doubt that many, that I knew, would be in favor of kicking someone who was born there off the island. It’s a muddy area, because in order to help certain people, we’d have to screw others who had never done anything wrong. It to me is a sensitive and complicated issue.
Where I completely agree with you 100% is no more building. I was on Oahu from 97-2001 and it was bad then. I’ve heard it’s much worse now. Way overdeveloped. The other islands may be less developed, but for how long? When does it end? Will every island just become a city in the water? That would suck.
My idea, to make homes more affordable to natives, Is a federal subsidy for anyone with 50%+ Hawaiian DNA markers. Take a cheek swab and if you’re 50%+ then you only pay a midrange fair market value on a home, equal to market value on the mainland in mid-markets, and the fed picks up the tab on the difference. So if you want a 3bd home, in decent shape, and it would go for 225K in like Virginia, but is 650K in Hawaii. The fed pays the difference between the 650K - 225K and you only pay the 225K on loan or cash, with an interest ceiling to protect against ballooning. Is it “give the islands back”? No, because that’s unreasonable and unrealistic at this point, see my prior points. But it is a way to create housing fairness and equality in housing for those who are of mostly Hawaiian blood, but can’t afford to buy in the current market. And that’s a reach for me, I’m a Republican. I’m generally against any assistance programs because they are theft through taxing others. But Hawaii and Hawaiians hold a special place in my heart, so I’d be in favor of additional assistance.

If you’re not Native Hawaiian (no matter blood quantum%) you may live In Hawaii under the Hawaiian Kingdoms Government and Lawful System (Different from Legal) No matter race, sex or nationality if born here or choose to be immigrated into our Nation. We will rebuild our EAducation, Ahupua’a, La’au La’pa’au, Lua/Koa, Trails/Roads/Parks/Beaches and universal sciences Kiai etc... if you choose to live here amazing. We were always so before our time. We had electricity in our Palace before the whitehouse and we were recognized as a nation before Japan along with knowing a minimum of 63 different types of winds, named them, and knew how to call them... you’re idea is nice but unfortunately you don’t understand our connection to our land.
Empress Ragga don’t get me wrong. I’d jump at the chance to short Democrats senate and house seats by releasing Hawaii from statehood lol. I’m just gauging where the fairness is, and to what extent say.... all the white,black,Asian etc... people are kicked out. Do they get compensated for their lost homes and careers? Do they get like a 5-10 year warning before being forced out? Does the military take back that equipment of the National Guard? There’s a LOT to unpack there.
What is the best way to help? Would it be donations, and if so what is the best thing or things to donate? This truly breaks my heart. I'm nearly 1/2 Hawaiian although I may not look it and my family has lived on and off of the beach before I was born. I spent the 1st decade of my life in public housing, lost 2 sister's to drugs, 1 sister went to prison and another was in and out of homeless shelter's with her kids for years. My Tutu was also beaten and ridiculed as a young girl in the early 1900's for speaking the only language she knew, Olelo Hawaii so to me it's one of my life goals to make a difference for Kanaka Maoli. Now at 38yrs old I'm happy to say I'm doing pretty good for myself, have a family of my own and just want to give back! I give donation's every paycheck but I feel it's not enough! I love our people and am raising my son to be a proud Hawaiian and wish more people would just truly live Aloha with no compromises.

Here's the solution:
1.) High-density capsule apartment high rises with communal baths/restrooms/laundry at $300-400 per month. Modeled after Japan's capsule hotels, but slightly larger and limited to long-term [3-5 year] working residents... Also limited to mid-lower income workers. If you make over 30K you don't get priority.
2.) Restrictions on non-residents ability to purchase land/property. Hawaii should NOT be immediately accessible to the 300+ million population of the US. It's insane.
3.) CCTV monitored coin locker system to keep important items of working homeless from being stolen while sleeping, or on the job. Modeled after the Japanese system.
4.) Vandalism -resistant public restrooms located throughout the island(s). Perhaps modeled after the "Portland Loo."
5.) Reward local *working* homeless for being neat by not kicking them out of designated public areas. Create rules/regulations for neatness/cleanliness, and if those rules are consistently broken they have to leave... Moving homeless (especially those who work) from place to place with perpetual sweeps is pointless and counterproductive.
6.) Subsidize the construction of a few affordable Sento/Onsen-style public baths for everyone to promote cleanliness. Modeled after the Japanese system.
7.) Legalize the usage of modified Japanese "Kei Cars" exclusively in Hawaii.
8.) Remove the idiotic "Jones Act."

All people should have the right to live on the land if they choose to do so. A camp that is well maintained should be allowed & assisted to continue. I wish this could be done in the Los Angeles area & other places where the homeless are taking over the streets & sidewalks with their tents. Get them some land & assign a leader. Community pride needs no physical address.
Yes even those who have medical issues should be given a chance as well to live on the aina show it to those as well.... for instance drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abusive relations all given equal opportunity with regards to registering for programs and attending appointments for treatment! Equal opportunity not one chance two chance three chance you’re out! Get that working for those people as well! Stretching across the board to all!!!

There are steps that a person must take in order to pull themselves back into the world of what most people refer to as "NORMAL". They should take a look at Austin Texas Community First! Village which is exactly what they are hoping for. To stay together as a community. But they need more than what they currently have, they need tiny homes, mobile homes, community kitchen, etc. The state should look into Austin Texas utopian homeless village as an example which is successful. It can very well work here. Most of the people here are just regular people/families that just can’t afford rent. They are good people with good hearts that help each other even when they don’t have much.
Some people can't work a job because of a disability, and yet their disability is not medically recognized. They need places like Twinkle is offering. Its so nice what she started for the people of Hawaii.

Most of the land is either owned by the government, the state or the school district. If they freed up some of that land yes it would be affordable for a short time but then it would rise up again. Hawaii has beautiful weather almost 365 days it’s why people want to live here. Retired people will not bring their money here because the taxes are too high and that’s what you need to stimulate the economy more people who are spending money in the state but do not use the workforce. It’s why Florida has it huge range of different prices of homes. 12% income tax for the higher earners are going to drive that money away to another state.
Halona n Lualualei families do have land but they cannot build homes for their children because I believe it’s Homestead zoned 2 acres per house. If your property is facing County road you can build a house on 1/2 acre. Now if the Governor? Change the zoning, land owner can build for their children.

Anybody who isn't native Hawaiian or local(let's say 5 years or more living in Hawaii is considered local) and wants to move to Hawaii to buy a house or build a business should be taxed at twice the rate. Locals and Natives are connected to this home. They've built friendships, families, culture ect. They should take priority first and foremost. And although I believe all land can be respectfully shared, certain populations must be cratered to first. The tax revenue from those higher rates can be then used to fund housing. And deter out of state folks from moving there.
There are more Hawaiians in the mainland US than in Hawaii. What should we do about them?

I was homeless in hawaii after being arrested for not paying for my printed photographs in the right manner i told them to put it on the hotel bill and unfortunately that store did not accept it. I was arrested and held in prison for less then 20 minutes and cops stold my income. Boy oh boy i was given a token after going for medical care at the emergency department. A rich man in new york city had kicked me to the street and i had eights to that rich new york city apartment. Homeless for days only to return to clean my record hawaii is not fair to the homeless. There is no figure nor statistic that will stand up for this issue

- The third property is in Toronto, 'cause I like the change in seasons, and unless you live in Scotland, we in England don't get much snow.
All paid for in cash, and they're for my own private use, not buy to let situation as I don't need the revenue or the headache of rented them out.

Yes the rich create employment/jobs, and pay taxes (cough), but they also pay off local officials and successive presidents, to keep the poor ... poor, and all at the cost of the tax paying poor. So in effect, the poor are paying for their own poverty!
