Nice work. Also, thanks for the Bandcamp album. I bought a couple more albums while I was over there (DEPARTURE and SONGS FOR JACKSON). Cool to see you getting the most out of your gear, makes me want to do the same with mine …
Thanks! I have a few releases out- paulgstewart.bandcamp.com/ I'm also on Spotify 😊 open.spotify.com/artist/5ViCg3moJVM0EvR9Gl11MP?si=jbyVfagsSlSHdxqsYKzC6g&
This is great, awesome job. You got pretty close on the main synth patch. Do you think they used sawtooth oscillators too? I feel like it’s one of the signature synth patches for them (at least on campfire Headphase) and I can never get one to sound identical. Obviously there’s a ton of processing which really completes the sound but I always thought maybe they’re using the AN1X or something similar
Just fired up the minilogue there and had a look at the patch I used- it was two triangle oscs slightly detuned, with a wee bit of slow LFO to shape, through a few pedals (phaser being the most prominent). It could be anything they used aye! Maybe even an old Rhodes or Wurlitzer. I think I started out playing it on a "Wurlitzer" sound that I had made from following a tutorial then just tweaked it from there.
I am pretty sure that a few of the “synth” sounds are in fact manipulated guitars run through tube amps and tube recorders with some synths, pretty sure an old Epiano was used... excellent cover though by the way! One of my favorite tunes ever. So nostalgic. You did a wonderful job by doubling down on the style, especially with the trippy phasers, sounds a little like Ween covering BoC or Floyd covering BoC. Nice tape recorders too... the small warbley one...
This is why I pay for my internet.
gr8!
Fabulous
you've done a fantastic job of replicating the vibe of the original. impressive considering you're working with a very different set of tools
That must be an absolute joy to play.
i remember replaying this on vinyl so many times
One of my all time favorite songs! You've replicated it masterfully! Well done!
