- The metalwork on the chop is complete now we're ready to apply fibreglass reinforced body filler on all the welded seams. We're going to mix resin with the fibreglass to thin it down to eliminate having to sand and shape it. Once the fibreglass dries, we'll apply a thin coat of body filler over top... and voila 🤌

I am an Australian who was born and raised in Montreal Canada. I first became of your Channel when you visited Australia earlier this year. I watch you every day at 9am and the more that I watch you the better I like your style. You don't big note yourself and are very kind and considerate to your fellow workers (and Jolene). I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to working with steel and have never even welded anything in my life I watch your channel just for what you create from nothing. For a guy who seems to be a bit of a Rough Diamond, you have certainly found your niche and deserve all that you have achieved.
Great video on a 53 gmc truck chop top on carter auto restyling the guy does fantastic metal work!
To you and Jolena, I would like to say thank you for the hours of work you out into your content. Its a great learning experience and also a great way for an older person to fill in time. Its really relaxing to me (just my opinion) when he is putting body fill on. And the way he explains everything and goes about it. Just like i seen someone comment that he is the Bob Ross of body work!! Great video Jolene!! Side note: i bought a 10 dollar tool from Amazon to take a couple of links out of a watch that was too big. Was really simple to use and do. Thats a nice watch you got there Jolene!!!
My personal opinion on this build is that I think the body fabrication that you’ve already done looks great, I think maybe you should reconsider extending the front and tail end, the car looks nice and classy as it is now, and I’m glad you’re going to take us through the body fill and paint, just curious what color you’re planning on painting it ! Keep up the great work ✌🏻😁🇺🇸

This one is going to be nice, glad you're taking it to paint. This car is too cool to be rusty yard art. Nathan and Doug (+ Jolene, nope didn't forget) have been doing great work too. Just looking at the new wheels on the car gave me another concept. For the frontend repair or fully restore the Chrome on the front so it's sheen is balanced with the sheen on the wheels. It would lift the overall look of the car. Not sure what is planned but this is a nice and easy solution. Thanks for listening.

I really enjoy watching you work with the glass & fill, I feel that I cannot watch to many times as it helps me get better with it in my mind! Fiberglass across those welded areas is always a great idea.
I use the resin trick, since I saw you do it too so thanks for that.

I tried Chad's epoxy trick and it worked like a charm, the extra open time made the application and some shaping so much easier. Sanding was a breeze. I found acetone did a pretty thorough job of getting my hands and arms clean, although I had to use my wifes hand cream to get some moisture back in. The ladies do like a soft touch!!

I seen another fabricator do the same car your doing now and he chopped it the same amount. However he left the rear window further back and had to fabricate the sail panels. I like the way you did yours 100 times better. Your car has a much better look as far as the overall body shape. Your way actually was less intrusive to the rest of the car. There were a little more door modifications on your car than his but I liked yours more. The car looks awesome Chad and I can't wait to see what other plans you have for it and to see it in color. Great job guys and Jolene as well.

@@Aaronlewis8846 the blue one is Lone Wolf Garage and he really cut the roof open and cut the sail panels. I like Chads better but, I won't judge him until he is done with it.

I am always impressed seeing you working that bodyfiller. I always make a mess on the mixing board and the tools and fight it all the way to get it smeared on the metal, making it look halfway decent, I guess it takes talent 😁

When I saw at first that you were rounding off the top of the doors I thought no that's going to look like crap! don't do it. well I must admit I was wrong once again lol You've showed me a thing or two about customization Chad and I'm learning to trust in your work more and more.
Rounded doors look good, but that gap between the passenger door and roof is HUGE !!!

Looking good. The only thing I would have done differently, is changed trunk hinges (put hinges inside the trunk) and covered up hinge holes with the metal behind the roof instead of cutting the metal around the hinges….just my two cents.
I’ll up that to four cents.
remember, Chad looks to do what he hasn’t seen before, that’s why the hinges are seeable

I can’t believe how good this is looking,good job. I have to agree on tilt wheel. I tore one out of an old Chevy van and installed it in a 56 F100 and it worked perfect !!

I watched all his videos that he has done so far on it, he has very little equipment. He did alot more cutting & welding on the door frames and window frames and cut alot of the roof out on both rear corners. It is Lone Wolf Garage and Chad is a lot farther along.
Went out on a treasure hunt yesterday found some hubcaps, and a classic muscle car gas cap.was agood day. Nice amp you guys have an eye for some cool things happy new year. Don't drink to much😮
At some point in time watch Ian roussel and learn how to weld a chop top time well-spent.

Looks great a visor over the windshield would look great.
Already it's going to be difficult seeing at traffic lights , add a visor and you would have to bring back human officers to direct traffic because you will never see the lights .

Get Nathan to lower the steering wheel. You wll see where you are going better. Its far too hgh in proportion with the lowered roof.
I notice that! From the front it looks like it will being hitting the screen but as you look from the side it doesn't look so bad. You also need to add too is that the drivers hands will be on the wheel all of the time.
, I hope is my " Corvette" indentation, my brother-in-law's custom 49 was chopped channeled, it was Candy Brandywine, with a white pearl Corvette style body indentation, from the front wheel well, to about the 3/4 of the door, this was really popular during Roth, Barris, Winfield, Cushinberry eras.

Great video. Ford 1951 trunk hinges fix the 1950 trunk. The hinges are inside the trunk.

Your a master Chad, the car looked like it had good bones to start with, I had a friend that did a vinyl roof on a choped shoe box and it looked killer, covered up alot of the imperfections
The chop is beautiful. Very well done . Id like to see custom front fenders extended a bit with different headlamps. To me the stock front clip is kind of ugly . Anyways...fun to watch. Thanks

Jolene must say u did a pretty good job on shortening your watch strap yourself good for you and isn't it nicer to use knowing you made that strap shorter yourself
Try sanding the trunk hinges smooth then paint either body colour or trim black then chrome spray paint just an idea
Do you not want some sort of primer or epoxy on the bare metal before apply fiberglass?🤔 I feel like rust will lift that up sooner rather than later?

I learned something from this I’m going to use. Need to modify some snowmobile hoods in the spring. I know now what I need to do 👍👍🙂
So many people at the beginning of this build were saying he cut too much off and would be putting some back, I wonder if they still think that because it looks pretty good now. Far too many people judge something before it’s finished, they must love eating humble pie
@@james-ew7kl He discussed cutting 8 inches off it a few times at the start, he measured the windscreen opening at 17 inches and said it would give them 9 inches at the end and then you see him put 4 rows of tape as his measurement for what he was cutting. We do know how much he chopped and he did measure it, were you one of those that said he would be putting some back also? Now, how would you like that pie served? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@james-ew7kl he clearly stated he was chopping 8 inches out of the pillar length, if you watched any of his videos you know that's how he measures the chop unless of course you just like being a troll and want to pick on rubbish. Another slice of pie? 🤣🤣🤣
