Commandos 2: Men of Courage is a definitive World War II real-time strategy and tactics game released by Eidos Interactive and Pyro Studios, and it is probably my favourite PC game of all time. Some of the missions in the game were inspired by famous WW2 movies. This is my full gameplay walkthrough with commentary of Level 7, The Giant in Haiphong, which can serve as a guide for how to successfully complete the level.
Level Plot: In 1942, commandos Jack O'Hara, Thomas Hancock, Paul Toledo and Natasha Nikochevski are deployed to the Pacific Theatre. In Spring of 1944, the commandos are sent to Haiphong, Indochina, destroying the port's fuel depots and infiltrating the Japanese aircraft carrier Shinano. In the next level (Bonus Mission 7), while out at sea, the commandos sabotage the rudder of every A6M Zero and report the carrier's position before escaping in two intact Zeroes. The Shinano is then bombed by American Vought F4U Corsairs.
The game sees players taking control of a squad of commandos (Green Beret, Sniper, Diver, Sapper, Driver, Spy, Thief, and Natasha) along with various allied units, as they sneak behind enemy lines to accomplish various missions in World War II, between 1941 and 1944, that will help them to thwart the war efforts of the Germans and the Japanese. The game also has an incredible music soundtrack by Mateo Pascual.
This is the original release of the game, currently available on Steam. I will also be reviewing the 2020 HD remaster soon.

The small green uniforms icons represent how many seconds you can wear the uniform for. But the spy doesn't need second's.
The green icon is a countdown timer of how long you can wear it for. Btw, shift click to give only one set to another commando instead of the whole stack. Right click to change uniform style.
3:10 Those little green uniforms say how long the uniform will keep you warm outside on the North Pole.
once i was playing this mission
i just ran away in front of the tank next to a fuel tank
the tank shot a missile at the fuel tank and the fuel tank was destroyed
yay that tank completed one objective for me lol

I think you don't really need to take Natasha with the others on the aircraft carrier
Hi Steve, at the last building you missed the backroom with the flamethrower and rpg. In that backroom is a visible doorway, but not useable. The outside image of the building suggests that there is certainly another part of the building. Do you know something about that? Maybe that area has been missed out by devs? Can't find anything on the net.

This is SO much better than any other game in the Commandos franchise:
Commandos BEL and BTCOD: Great gameplay, but too hard, and basically only one way to play: maximum stealth until the very end of a mission
Commandos 3: Destination Berlin: Maps suddenly much smaller, awkward interface, no hotkeys, no Driver or Natasha
Commandos Strike Force: Three new commandos with no personality, blocky graphics
Commandos 2: Men of Courage: Big, real-world feel maps, 9 commandos, many ways to complete missions, hotkeys and great graphics - even if it's not the HD remaster. I'm probably biased, but I think the game looks good even today (April 2024).

How do you select a soldier without the camera jumping to his location. @29:50 for instance the camera is with Natasha in the building, you then select the Green Beret without the camera jumping to him and then order him into the building...
I think press the character's hotkey (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) once to not jump, and twice to jump
Man I'm a big fan of this game and you're helping me a lot to pass all the levels because as you said yourself you know how well you explain what you have to say But as you show the videos I can pass and I don't pass that anger that I was having. THANK YOU SO MUCH
The part with the truck. It's a clue and not important if you skip it. The reason why it is no longer automatically travel inside it's because the guy loading it up got scared. He saw dead bodies / knocked out bodies, got scared and ran.
Also remember you can highlight interactive objects with F10 and it's easy to find bonus parts
I never knew that about the guy loading the truck! Also yes, I was on a Mac and F10 didn't work unfortunately
@SteveRamsdenTH-cam i noticed that all civilians will get scared when they see a dead body or a tied up soldier. And i tested it with the guy loading the truck, and that is why it never went back in the base

Easiest mode play... Use hardest mode so that your bolt action rifle doesn't shoot like Garand..
U can literally finish a Patrol with a rifle and one commando only ..(not only manually but even in autoshoot mode).

Why haven't you played the remastered version?
Haven't got round to it yet, but from what I've seen so far I think I will prefer the original
@@SteveRamsdenTH-cam Fair enough. Original will always be better but i kinda like the HD aspect in the new one. Also im going through the missions right now and idk i just kinda prefer watching a play through of the missions and see what others approach is and kinda get some 'tips'. I like your commentary and how you talk through every step in the mission, big up mate!

You can throw cigarettes somewhere that a guy can't see but if you talk to him with natasha or spy you can lead him to see the ciggarettes and then you can eliminate him
