I can't believe how taken I am by Norma Jean! I love watching these old shows. This old music is like listening to something completely new because I've never heard it before, and it all never gets played except for right here!
I'm black and grew up watching this every Saturday and HEE HAW... does anybody know Oswego County New York? That's where I'm from...but I appreciate music like this today
Then you understand the reverence that lies at the bottom of this kind of country music during this time period, never to be repeated to humanity's great loss.
There is no country on earth that could have produced a Porter Wagoner but America. He is my absolute favorite country music writer and performer. His storytelling is legendary, something Pardon tried with "A Coat of Many Colors" but she turned out to serve Satan.
Was there ever a better gospel alto than Anna Gordon? I don’t think so. Even today, it seems a little awkward having Porter and company performing their famed drunken murder ballad with the Chuck Wagon Gang on the program.

Makes no difference your color. Country will welcome you. It’s really what’s in your heart not your mind.
