    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I realize I forgot to mention it. It's all PLA, easy to print and pretty stiff so it works well in this use case :)

    Came here from Reddit. Amazing video and concept. Out of curiosity, have you created any reinforcements between the neck pocket and bridge? From another 3D printed vídeo the builder saw the guitar loosing integrity over time and bending due to the tension of the strings.

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn't any reinforcements in terms of non-plastic components, I just added a lot of outer walls and top/bottom layers with 40% infill to make sure it doesn't move. PLA is pretty stiff, and I havent seen any movement on other guitars, but I have no idea if it will last for more than a few years.

      @RaulEdu33 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've built three 3d printed guitars and can confirm this happened to my first two guitars. The changes in temperature and humidity here in Mexico affected the string action, I fixed this going up to 80% infill density through the bridge and neck joint. They are still playable adjusting thruss rod and tuning down. Also using active pickups helps mitigate the loss of sustain.

    Hey, it's been a year. How's the body holding up vs string tension?

    • @xavierdumont
      @xavierdumont  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, not great. It started coming undone a few weeks after I finished it, I think it's mostly because I didn't put enough glue. I untightened the strings to relieve some tension and it's been holding fine since, but I don't think it would hold much for very long unless I were to disassemble and re-glue everything

      @@user-hg5du8dq4k I sincerely appreciate your kind words! I'll see what I can do. It's a bit difficult because there are dozens of different Floyd Rose models and they all have specific dimensions, it's quite hard for me to guarantee that the STL will fit the bridge and have good intonation.
