@@Wolfsgarageinc People would have liked to hear in the video that it's already loose via the method you showed. Either that or show the process from the beginning.
I tried that, broke my channel locks, and crossbar, then I got mad and threw my hammer and broke the mirror. Then while I was screaming I cut my feet on the glass and slipped and got a concussion
@Wolfsgarageinc cuz it might be very very tight and many people don't know that? We can't assume everyone is as knowledgeable as you or else why would you make these videos in the first place?
You should have started the video before you already loosened the spud.. that's how you teach .. not after you did the hardest part.. show the struggle lol😊
Yall some hatters if done correctly it is that ez! I just did mine right now also make sure that u hammer the soft hand grips of the channel locks into location and go slowly as your turning cuz if not that's how u screw up and break stuff
Any advice if your drain doesn’t have the cross bars? My drain has small channels across from each other about 1.5mm deep and 3mm wide. I just can’t get it to budge! Any tips appreciated!
You know I saw this video a couple weeks ago and today I did my first bathroom install and it took me forever to get that part out and now watching this video I realized I saw your video long time ago and just didn't retain the knowledge and dog on it I brought my channels but I didn't even use them that way It took me a long time to get the old one out but I'm excited It looks really nice no leaks and they're happy😅
One caveat, better hope the pipe below is secure because if it isnt and under some sideways tension it could spring to the side and your you know what. Especially on big soaking tubs. You may be tearing out tile etc to get to the pipe to push or pull back to center.
It's already loose.the T breakes out even with the correct tool.a expanding tool might save them the cost of a plumber.but when it's all this welded together ,concider that if the trap snaps and there is no acsess ecept through the wall of a two story home.you might have just turned a twenty dollar over the old one investment into a plumber a stuco repair and a plumber.a grand at least.you don't fix this with a good pair of Chanel locks.you Will ruin those aswell.a dremel tool and small diamond blade and then a hack saw with no top bar going over it.anf you still might break the trap where the overflow and the p trap are just fitted together without being solid.water in drains is not a pressure fitted water tight strength.its gravity.seal and if it backs up it will leak.i love the dys vidios on the web..but watch more than one.im sure this works once in a while .but old plumbing is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.son of a plumber and thirty years as a bathtub refinishing contractor and kitchen and bath remodel.
Wow it worked!! Thank you so much!! I ran out to get the tools and still forgot a flathead screw driver, so I still had no leverage and couldn’t do it. Thanks again!!
He should say, how to remove a LOOSE bathtub drain strainer without any special tools
Exactly😂
I have no clue why everyone is so upset that the drain was already loose. How do you think it got that way?
I just got my drain out using this method, and it was very tight, I had to use enough force that I damaged my channel locks but it got the job done

Sounds like you need anger management

Step one make sure drain is loose before you start filming

Good luck if it’s more than 10 years in there
Thank you very much! I removed it using your way. I applied Spry w40, waited for couple of hours.
I appreciate it!!
but 95% of the time it's not going to be that easy
This is for informational purposes only. Your mileage may vary.
@@Wolfsgarageincworked great for me!

The t was gone in mine because it was so old. I sawed it and twisted it out. Took less than 10 minutes. Just replaced it.
@@devilmecaresame here,I'll try this aftn,guess I'll need a small hacksaw...
THANK YOU !!! This is exactly what I needed and it just popped up on my feed from another related video! Loooove TH-cam!

Didn’t want myself swearing on film. 😅
Uh huh. I want to see you do that with a drain shoe that isn't already loose .
How do you think I got it loose?
Instructions unclear I broke the entire universe.🎉 Not happy
Holy crap! After fudging with this thing for hours….. your a miracle!!
This drain has been on here for like 30yrs till now! 😊😊
The easiest way to remove this is by cutting a couple slits with a dremmel and Voila!
Do you have any tips if you're cross part is broken
Bs! By the time you have to replace the tub drain the inner posts are no longer there.
Of course I come across this video after struggling with my sink drain! Lol 😂
Don’t do this. Seriously.
You said without any special tools but you're using grandpa's channel locks
You’re not wrong…
Bro definitely used the tool meant for this before the video based on how loose it is 💀
😂wait, there’s a tool??
Yall some hatters if done correctly it is that ez! I just did mine right now also make sure that u hammer the soft hand grips of the channel locks into location and go slowly as your turning cuz if not that's how u screw up and break stuff
My channel locks broke the cross bar, had to cut the sides of thr the drain cover w a sawzall just a bit, and used a prybar as a wrench.
One is loose already and second it’s never that easy especially when some people use cheap putty that dries and causes it to lock up
That was so clutch man. I'm doing my bathroom demo today for a full remodel to save myself some money. Thanks for the awesome tip.
Any advice if your drain doesn’t have the cross bars? My drain has small channels across from each other about 1.5mm deep and 3mm wide. I just can’t get it to budge! Any tips appreciated!
I would cut a couple of grooves in the Outer ring with a dremel or cutoff wheel and then hammer it with a chisel or flathead screwdriver.
Cmon man that was already loose...

The install went awesome I did another bathroom took half the time and I also did a kitchen sink so I feel real good about it Thanks for the know-how
I'm confident mine has like 60 years of corrosion caked all over it, gonna crack something
Best method ever ! Just pulled out 20 years worth of hair. Appreciate you bro 🙏🏽
Tub wrench is 11$ at Home Depot
They break I tries a husky cross T one
And if the cross bars are completely gone?
I think every toolbox in America has those channel locks
This video is exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Just so you know, sometimes they literally need to be cut out...... I have had some that have destroyed the channel locks.....
I'm literally bout to try this right now. Was gonna start beating the shit out of it but thought hey TH-cam it 😂😂😂
it DOESN"T WORK!!!! your drain is already loose
Don’t do this. Spend a few bucks and get the tub drain tool. Or… take your chances.
Worked great. Thanks. Now, how to reinstall ? Need all purpose adhesive caulk for tub or sink?
Yeah that's what that guy said. Had to remove a tub drain when it's already loose. You can undo it with your fingers😮
Thanks !!! Your solution did work
Part 2 - How to reattach the drain to a loose PVC pipe. ???
Wish I would have saw this before I broke my tub.
One caveat, better hope the pipe below is secure because if it isnt and under some sideways tension it could spring to the side and your you know what. Especially on big soaking tubs. You may be tearing out tile etc to get to the pipe to push or pull back to center.
What if those little things broke
Bull sht. I’m working on mine now it just spins and spins round and round doesn’t pop out
I used a similar approach but your analogy helped. Thank you!!
Dude, yes! Miracle! Life saver! 😂 thank you!
Use oil unrust spray before learned the hard way lol,
Crossbars are broken so I had to buy a Tool,.......
I tried this an I’m still working it lol. It’s a pain in the ass at first but after a while it should brake the seal
Now make a video where u’re removing an old drain shoe that has nothing to get a grip on😂
It doesn’t always come out! You can crack your drain!
Effortless as he started spinning it already had moved whoa 😅 no sweat
How to make a 10 second video a full minute
i'm turning it but it won't pop out
How to broke a tool in 2 min. Tub drain tool Home Depot 10$

My cross bars are long gone. Nothing in my old house is easy. Lol
When the cross is gone this doesn't work.
Did not work, broke crossmembers
And I broke the stems of the drain.....
And if the c is broken, how can I remove?
That was very useful. Many thanks!
that shyt already loose FOH
So what you pulled out the special tool first loosened it up and then try to show a hack way to loosen that up with a pair of channel locks.. awesome
I guess it’s a free country. Think what you want. Worked for me.
Wow it worked!! Thank you so much!! I ran out to get the tools and still forgot a flathead screw driver, so I still had no leverage and couldn’t do it. Thanks again!!
Yeah that’s a newer Tub probably around 20 years old that might work. Try doing that with a 60 year old tub.
Worked for me, thanks!
I got those same chanel locks
Thank you now I need new channel locks
Thanks for sharing this
thank good information.
What do u do when the drain is broken
I tried that but it bent my Chanel locks
Thank you for your ingenuity! Saves me from buying another use once tool!!
God bless you Sir
Is that a Moen?
Cool thanks
Al centro c'è un dado da girare😂
What do I do if the cross bars are completely broken and missing?
I'm in the same boat
Hammer and chisel or flat head screwdriver. Dig in hitting it to the left to hopefully get it loosened
Thanks!!
Ma era già smontata 😂😂😂😂
Thx
Don't be fooled, they're never that easy...Let's see how you do when the crosshairs have broken..I know, do you
This is how I've always done this until one day I bought an expansion plug to grip it
Can't thank you enough thought we'd have to replace the whole tub, was just a liner issue.....saved us a ton of time and money TY you a real one....
This is fake been plumbing for 14 years. Never seen a drain that loose
Thanks, i was trying to put the channe locks in the other way and wouldn't fit. Lol glad i seen this.
Yeah mine is just stuck as hell and it has nothing on the inside no cross bars or anything 😢
Thanks for saving me $12 on a tool. I knew there had to be another way!
Awesome. I used this on my pedestal sink drain...it worked!
Recently watched this video...& It work for me... thank you!
barbell drain tool is like less than ten bucks, put it in your tool box, or break cross bars and fight them.
This is awesome! What do you do if the screw is too tight though? :(
So thats how those channel locks get handles messed up. Lol
I did it! I wanted to add a picture but it won't let me. Thank you so much!
I don’t use Channel locks does it work with Milwaukee channel locks 😅let me see that
I did it and it keeps spinning and wont come out
Thanks bro, it helped me a lot...🎉
Never thought of that one...
Thank you.
Thank you times a zillion🎉🎉🎉🎉
