We're taking a look at the possible futures of the Metal Gear franchise. The MGS games matter a lot to us, so don't get us wrong, our point isn't that Metal Gear Solid or its spinoffs should be pointlessly milked. Rather, we wanted to talk about possible stories that could still be told in the Metal Gear universe, because it is a rich and vibrant universe with a lot of creativity, and there are many series and characters that have lived on past their original creators. Sometimes that's a good thing, but sometimes it's not. You can use our Fortnite code - DJAY123 - to support us on that game, or you can use that same code on our website cosmobunny.shop where you'll actually get 10% off your first purchase on our store! We also played through a few Metal Gear games on our let's play channel, Degenerate Plays - www.youtube.com/@realdegenerateplays - we'd love to see you there!
One thing i would have loved to see was a full 3D remake of _Ghost Babel_ with David Hayter performing as Snake and telling a completely different type of story independent of the Patriots and all the Illuminati stuff Kojima added in the later titles. I feel having a game which was focused on contemporanean events devoid of ancient government conspiracies would both have offered a new side of the world of Metal Gear while also allowing Snake to be explored in a different perspective by showing him without all the baggage which been a fast aging clone of Big Boss entailed. Truth be told, i still think to this day that Konami could make such a remake provided they had a strong grab of the original game's storyline and knew what to do with it when it came to releasing a sequel. Anyway, just a thought i've had.
Something weird to me is that there are characters who were allowed to get stories outside of their original creators that were amazing but people think without Kojima nobody could do a good job on a Metal Gear story. Theres the opposite too with lots of bad stories but that doesn't mean someone couldn't be passionate and make a great game.
Some people have the idea that Kojima is a god at writing and that nobody else has done well but there are other Metal Gear games he barely had a hand in or didn't at all like Portable Ops that were great
@@andyowski5021 He did produce Portable Ops though, and he apparently also wrote some of the story hence why he mentions San Hieronymo during the opening cutscene of Peace Walker.
@@zomebody5529Philanthropy and the friendship between Snake and Otacon would be interesting to me like they talked about in this for after MGS 1. After 2 you could do a story about the full implementation of “The System” and how Snake started learning about his worsening health.
Kojima was trying to hand this series off for years. It was pretty clear he was getting sick of making them and wanted to do something else even though he loves this series. It's just Konami and the fandom would not let him move on. If somebody else wants to make it and he already had wanted to hand it off and it's good, i don't see why anyone who knows the history of what he wanted would be against that.
He did mention in later interviews that some of his staff and employees at Kojima Productions had little understanding of "what Metal Gear is all about", forcing him to continue directing the later titles in order to properly convey the messages which the earlier games already conveyed so it's a complex subject when it comes to Kojima's desire to "pass on the mantle" to other game developers only for them to be incapable of taking said mantle from him.
I wouldn’t mind the idea of the the clone of the legendary soldier Big Boss aka Solid Snake/David Hayter, but I believe they should focus on his earlier years of Solid Snake like Metal Gear 1 or 2 before the events of MGS.
Oh definitely prolly see how snake was with grey fox and big boss seeing what happened with them since mgs1 told what happened but never seen it in our eyes
I hope we can see Sony or someone else step in as a middle man between Konami and Kojima. Maybe you have his own team make it or him direct a team at Konami. One of those two and David Hayter back could work in my opinion.
If we are talking completely new game, I'd like to see Raiden's story between MGS2 and 4 detailing the rescue of Sunny. If talking remake, DEFINITELY would like MG1/2 brought to modern day standards. What would really seal the deal for me is a expansion/completion to MGS5 leading up to the events of MG1/2.
That was the original plan for "Metal Gear Solid: Rising", only for Kojima to be unable to handle the game's development to his team at Kojima Productions, and forcing him to handle to Platinum Games who turned it into the (non canon) sequel Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Sorry but if hideo kojima doesn’t make it then I won’t play it. That goes for every thing else in my life too. If hideo kojima doesn’t make my food, I don’t eat it. If hideo kojima doesn’t tuck me into bed at night with a kiss, I don’t sleep. If hideo kojima doesn’t rub my back to burp me like a baby, I won’t burp. End of story. (This is a joke)
We kind of already did with that one game for mobile phones which literally ends with the teasing of the Patriots and the events at the Tanker Incident. I'm not sure if the game is considered canon to the timeline, though.
As much as I would love to see Solid Snake go on another adventure/mission… His story was told. There are gaps between the major entires that could pose as potentially interesting stories but to say that anything major happened between those points that weren’t mentioned in other games would be a stretch for suspension of belief. If there are plans for another game featuring Solid Snake then I would much prefer it being a ground up remake of the original MSX games. I just played them for the first time back in June. I liked them. They’re good. They’re fun. They’re also dated and their stories are very bare bones. Having those fleshed out and expanded would be the perfect way to round off the main series connecting V back to 1 as a transition that many don’t end up playing through the 16-bit ones. Another story with another major Metal Gear character that has yet to be told is Gray Fox from the days fighting for Big Boss to the point he was when he was the Cyborg Ninja. Ocelot in MGS1 actually says a line that implies that he knew him. “Can’t you even die right?”. If there were a “Metal Gear Solid 6” those would not be bad avenues. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a game centred around The Boss set during WWII.
I don’t think new games would be good, but a complete remake of MG1&2 would be ideal, one that fully details what happened to Snake, Boss and Gray Fox throughout the 90s
Yeah but if people don't have faith in new games, would they have faith in someone going back and expanding Kojima and teams' work from those games? Maybe they would because they're not as renowned nowadays as the Solid series.
I want a full fledge MGS6. A story that is a spiritual successor to MGS2 and that deals with the fallout of MGS4. Solid Snake is alive but is in hiding. You are a newcomer. A rookie in the new Foxhound. After you successfully defeat the problem, your last mission should be to find Solid Snake, who is hiding somewhere in Alaska. Where the story goes from there……I would love to see.
Tbh, I think metal gear should just be left alone. Solid Snakes' story is done, and I want it to stay that way. Every story needs a beginning, middle, and end. I would be fine with remastering the old metal gear games and bringing them to new console generations so gamers, new and old, can enjoy them. But I think metal gear should be done. The story is done, and it should stay that way.
Idk how this would do anything except expand the middle a bit. If we were talking about reviving Snake from the dead then I guess but that's not the discussion. Unfortunately most people won't bother with MG 1 and 2 so remaking those at least is a no brainer.
I wouldn’t mind if the right person or team takes the reins of this series. I also wouldn’t mind if Metal Gear started following a new protagonist. So long as it still feels like Metal Gear.
Definitely not to me. The whole story of 4 was to let things go and not hold on to them for a long time. It’s ok to let game or characters go. If we bring solid snake back (even though he’s dead) it defeats the whole purpose of 4. We tend to do that a lot nowadays that’s why companies bring old stuff back or remake things because us as audiences keep talking about the past yet we never just let things go and try new things. At this point I’m not even talking about the video I’m just ranting
I get what you’re saying but tbh Kojima didn’t take his own advice and went on to push tons of stories about Big Boss anyways lol. I feel like it wouldn’t defeat the purpose here if it didn’t go past the events of 4. It wouldn’t be any different to me than Portable Ops or Peace Walker being stories that fill in gaps more or less. If they continued with Solid Snake after 4s ending then I would see merit to that criticism of it not letting his story end.
I don't think they should should. If The Phantom Pain is any indication, they would just retcon everything and screw the story up. I think they should just remake the pre PS5 era games in a way that doesn't destroy the story and atmosphere of the originals and then let the series lie.
Rising 2 seems like it should a no brainer. A lot of newer fans started with the first game and it’s become more popular in recent years. It’s also been very accessible on Xbox platforms due to backwards compatibility and widely available on PC. It’s a shame they never put it on PS4 and 5, and it feels like we are a few years away from it being included on Master Collection 2 or 3.

Something after MGS2 but before 4 would work like a story that takes place in 2012 since MGS4 is in 2014
What would it be about?
@@zomebody5529That would be anybodies guess but if the writers are clever enough they could make it a good story.
@@zomebody5529Philanthropy and the friendship between Snake and Otacon would be interesting to me like they talked about in this for after MGS 1. After 2 you could do a story about the full implementation of “The System” and how Snake started learning about his worsening health.
That was going to be the original setting for Rising before platinum stupefied it.
@@zomebody5529they could easily make one off stories of them taking down metal gears in multiple counties. Whole new villains and characters.
They should make a Metal Gear Liquid that takes place in the 90s to bridge the gap between Phantom Pain and MGS1.
About Venom and BB? I think a lot of people wanted to see that but Kojima had to cut 5 short and then is no longer with Konami.

100% we need Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy!
Snake, Otacon and Raiden on adventures around the world takin down Metal Gears !
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops shows that MG games can work without Kojima if people care when making them.
Kojima said he was involved in Portable Ops
@@GeneFOX70 Not very. He just overlooked a few things. It was mostly someone else's project.
Yes.
At the very least I would like remakes of MG 1, 2, and MGS: Ghost Babel.
I really would like to see a remake of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake above all. There is so much to expand upon in that area.

Maybe one set in between MGS1 and MGS2. Or in between the Tanker and Big Shell levels from MGS2
We kind of already did with that one game for mobile phones which literally ends with the teasing of the Patriots and the events at the Tanker Incident. I'm not sure if the game is considered canon to the timeline, though.
Only if David hayter gets to voice him
Completely agree. Love that guy
Hayter is the GOAT. I feel like he could help write the character at this point.

No, the story is done, Solid Snake's one...unless they remake the old Orginal MGS games I don't see how they could do it
