  • Hey Everyone!
Long time no video. I am coming back with a pretty hard hitting one, I actually sold my 2022 G82 M4 Competition after only owning it for 5 months. This was probably one of the shortest terms of ownership that I have had with a car.
This video just outlines my thought process on why I wanted to sell it. I will be making a like/dislike video soon so stay tuned.

My wife has an A45s and has the same doubts. She currently has an M4 XDrive on order and it’s costing a lot more money than she’s currently paying for the A45s. They seem to be depreciating faster also. She’s actually in a good place financially with the A45s also. I’m going to show this to her. What a great video from someone that isn’t sponsored by the brand and has actually bought the car👍

Im going to go out on a limb, and say that the buckets were 80% or more of the problem. The issue is, once you find something you can't live with, when it comes to a car, it makes everything else that much more of a pain in the ass. I feel like the size is fine, for me, but, everyone is different. I have 9,980 miles on mine, and I actually think this is a car that I'm probably going to keep, longer than most of the 31 cars I've had in the 31 years I've been driving. I felt the same way about my 2019 Type R. I bought it because of what it was, when, in reality, I hated driving it, because of the seats. And in the end, the FWD, and it was just slow, since I'd traded in my C7 for it. The only option I dont have on my 22 G82, is the carbon buckets. I love the carbon Ceramics, and the M Drivers Package, and, I can't imagine what you're going to get, next, as probably the only car that's not a downgrade from this, is a 911 GTS or higher.

I own a G80 Comp XD and daily mine and have no idea why anyone would think its not a good daily. Coming from an AMG CLA 45 I can see why you think its heavy, because it is heavier, but I think not ordering the carbon bucket seats would have made it more practical. Not mention the used mark up prices right now are so high you can drive it for 5-6 months and still make $10k-$20k so Im sure that had some impact on your decision.
I absolutely love my G80 CompXD and wouldnt trade it or sell it... Its super practical, it goes from housewife to stripper with a push of a button. One minute I have my two kids & groceries in its spacious trunk, and the next minute im gapping C8 vettes... I also wanted an AMG CLA 45 initially and thats how I found your channel, but my dealer couldnt find one, so I researched other drivers cars, and M3/M4 kept coming back as the top reviewed. I can say with certainty I concur with their reviews, and IM so glad I didnt end up in a AMG CLA 45. Even though I could sell my M3 CompXD and make $15k profit, knowing what I know about the car, I would pay an extra $15k to own it, so the car offers that value to me.
To each their own, and thats why not one car is a good fit for everyone, I suppose I dont understand why its not a good daily driver. The suspension is far smoother than a AMG CLA 45, you dont have to worry about getting a bent rim over every little pothole, and while the car is bigger & heavier downtown city driving isnt bad as the visibility is pretty good. I personally wouldnt get the Carbon Bucket seats, because that would be a bit of a pain in ass after X time, but I didnt get them in mine because I knew it would be a daily driver for me.
Good luck on finding your new car!

    • @yaboibakalli
      @yaboibakalli  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hey thanks for your input and review!
The selling the M3/M4 for profit days are completely over. I can tell you even with an xdrive you won’t be getting a profit, maybe you’ll break even on the payoff (if you have one)
In order to make $15k profit after 5-6 months you’d have to sell it for $105-10k. Nobody is paying that much for those cars anymore.
After having the 45 for 30k miles and the M4 for 8k, I can safely say the 45 is a much more tolerable daily than the latter. The 45 has much more emotion, better tech and just feels fun/cool to drive. The m4 was completely opposite but maybe the M3 is different.
      Enjoy your car!!

Yeah anyone paying retail for a used car is out of their mind, those days are ending or have ended. In terms of people selling the car early, my guess is because they tend to get their money's worth in terms of videos and content then are still able to sell it after for a profit. I’m not surprised to hear you let the M4 go, and honestly, I kinda figured you would. I had my 2020 CLA 45 AMG for 2 years before trading it up for my Outback and the only issue I had with the CLA, was it wasn’t very capable. It’s fine if all you wanna do is city driving, but obviously not good for being adventurous as I found out when I took it to blue ridge. I’m really surprised you got rid of your CLA when you expressed how much you loved it. Like I said, I loved mine, there was nothing wrong with it at all, it was dang fast, just not very capable. I hope you find something you love in your next search for a new car. And I love my outback wilderness. It’s plenty quick for a wagon, very capable, but not that much better on gas. It is a turbo though at least.

I just sold my G82CX, and put a order in for G80. Did those carbon bucket seats were one of factor counts in “hassle”? I had standard seats in my M4 and Im thinking about to order bucks for M3. They are so cool and beautiful, and I understand once you are in it, it feels comfortable , but getting in and out is pain. Im just worry if it will get old down the road. Great informative video, as always, can’t wait to see your next car. ✌️

M4 Comp = race car(with some daily compromises). After 2 months and nearly 5k miles on mine, i agree with some of your daily driver gripes, but i was coming from a Ford Raptor, but have also owned a number sports cars. I will say the throttle modulation is a learning curve. You're either into it , or you're not.
Personally I really like it. I have taken it on a couple 7 hour + drives. Have yet to track it, but know it'll do well :) Commute ~ 90miles round trip every week day between freeway and country road driving.
Just ordered the winter wheel set and really look forward to what it'll be like in that environment (coming from having a WRX 5 door to and S5 to a X6 50i and lastly to that 2019 raptor)
It certainly demands more of the driver in the moment to moment city driving (sneeze factor throttle and brakes) , but the ability to transform the car from full efficient to full sport plus and 2WD across the board, just silly fun.
Couldn't agree more that the G82 puts on speed really fast... never thought it would be an issue, but i do end up in triple digits a lot easier (and sometimes accidentally) than i should.
Good on you for making a decision and not having that ~100k burden on your shoulders. Looking forward to hearing what you got for it and what's next. Based on your comments I would assume you'll be putting a V8 back in the garage and couldn't blame ya:)

I completely disagree with this. I recognize that this is a personal view, but some items seem contradictory. It’s the same weights as the C63S. You did what was best by you. You experienced it & you established it's not for you.
    I'm still contemplating on a F90 M5 competition pack or a G80 M3 CP.
My 1st BMW was a F10 M5 CP. I loved it. I live in a small City with really small roads etc. I sold it for the F80 M3 CP. It looked nice etc but it didn't compare to the F10 M5 CP (complete car). I sold the F80 for the F90 M5 CP. I loved this car but the Mrs & the kids didn't like it. They preferred the F10 M5 CP. I sold the F90 M5 CP & bought the X3M. It was OK but I didn't like it.
I only had the CLS (Mercedes) & loved it. Was contemplating on the C63S & the E63S but didn't proceed with Merc & went with BMW.
    I also considered a RS5 & a RS3 (Audi) but not convinced.

Back to what you said at the end of the video, the reason why a lot of G80/82 owners sell within a year is because of the used car market right now. You can get a huge return of money after even driving the car after many miles. Of course where you live comes to play and I think the m4 in general is too long, I personally own a G80 and think the m3 is the perfect daily. Has the power and the juice.

I was looking for an owners video of an G8x to get an confirmation that I really want this car. Now I am bit confused.
I am afraid of the weight and size (have driven M2C and M5C back to back) as the weight is close to M5. M5 felt faster but always more uncomfortable doing so.
For me it will be a one car to do it all. I currently own an F32 and it is great, except lacking emotion as it is a diesel and a bit dull as not a full M-car.
xDrive for winter is great but seems like M2 will stay as a RWD car and I am quite sure that interior will be black only. Looking for a Kyalami interior with carbon buckets. Finally the M4 has grown on me and M3 Touring also on the cards I do not know what to do.
Seems like GR Yaris was still the best daily driver to have.

Probably would've been better off in an M5 comp. I have a G80 M3 with the regular seats. It is very stiff, and I have a Kw has kit on it. If you like a stiff ride, its cool. Your family will not enjoy it at all. For me tho, it's fun.

You are a Mercedes guy. Those cars are soft and more luxury oriented. A much better A BMW is more sportier with a stiffer ride. It's ok that you don't like the BMW. We like what we like. I have had an F80 and 82 and the new G82. The new G82 is a cream puff compared to the F82. It rides softer and it has lost all of it's character that BMW "M" is known for. I had my G82 for 2 months and sold it for a profit. I decided that I would get a pre-owned Porsche now. BMW just wasn't living up to my expectations. Well to get a Pre-owned Porsche I had had to look at 2017 or older to be in the same price point as the M4. I was missing serious tech and performance that just wasn't in the late model Porsche when compared to the new M4. I looked for several months. I just couldn't pull the trigger on an old car with 50K miles and no heated seats. LOL. So I went and ordered a new M4 again even though I knew it wouldn't be like driving a Porsche or even the older F82 but hey it's the best bang for the buck. To me it rides soft for an M4 more like a M5 these days. I can use it as a daily since most of my drive time is on roads that are 65 MPH or higher. I don't necessarily have a sports car anymore in my mind but I do have a really fast sedan with lots of tech and I guess that's ok till I can afford to get the Porsche of my dreams.

Wut.....I just switched from AMG CLS 53 to M4 competition xdrive convertible, and have had the exactly opposite feeling...M4 is a better daily drive(I didn't opt the bucket seat tho, that's probably the major issue for you). The car feels smaller than my AMG and more nimble and smoother at mountain road for sure, BMW M series is truely "the ultimate driving machine" from my experience. In terms of daily drive, it actually is a little bit softer and smoother than my AMG, that AMG is like a tank or boat with huge amount of torque and power...M4 is more like a Civic with much more horsepower and better handling. However, one thing I really miss about my AMG is that 48-volt system(a lot of people don't like it), it gives u the instant torque at the mini sec you press the gas pedal, man that feeling.....I can feel "huge" delay of turbo while driving M4 compared with AMG. That's the only part my AMG does better imo.

    • @weiyichen4849
      @weiyichen4849 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Also I really understand what you are talking about in the video, as both AMG and M owner. I can feel it, hard to describe, let's say, AMG is like a bodybuilding champion, looks way cooler while flexing his muscle, feels raw, intimidating and masculine, lifts 400 pounds with no sweat, that feeling is really thrilling and exciting. On the other hand, M is like an UFC fighter, knock you down in just one punch, it's kind of boring and predictable in some way...

they car is literally destroying everything on the streets performance wise with a downpipe, especially if it's an xdrive. Not sure what your issue was with daily driving the car, albeit the city or in bad weather but from my experience it's been nothing but good. I wouldn't give the car a bad review off people selling it within a year of ownership because 1. we don't know your stats and who's really selling 2. some people lease expensive cars and sell and re-lease a newer year model. Honestly sounds like you were wanting attention at low speeds which the m4 comp doesn't really offer unless you go FBO with a tune.
