    I was questioning this for a bit, ending up going the carbon buckets route. Well worth it IMO. A lot more comfortable than I thought they were going to be. I’m 5’11 195lbs.

    I've had buckets for 3 months now. I love them, I agree 100% with Ken. Long drives are no problem. My wife thinks it's more comfortable than our X5. It's really a no brainer. Unless you are 275lbs+.

    BMW really set the bar high with the new carbon bucket seats in the M cars. In my opinion carbon bucket seats are a must hands down. Good pros and cons but at the end of the day everyone has there own opinion on what works best for them.

    I order mine with the carbon bucket seats with full leather! Your pros and cons and spot on! I had a chance to test drive with the carbon and without. Definitely a noticeable difference in terms of comfort but the amount of grip from the buckets makes the amazing. My wife on the other hand didn’t like the carbon at all lol. Too bad, it’s my car 😂

    Love your videos. I've got a G80 manual on order with sport ventilated seats. I still have an opportunity to switch to carbon buckets. I love the look of the carbon buckets and I'm sure they fit my size. This is my daily and I'm worried about longer drives and my wife.

    • @TheDailyDriven
      @TheDailyDriven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you much appreciated! It really all depends on your body shape. I am about 5ft 10" and 218lbs. I don't mind it on long drives. It does become tedious when. Getting in and out. I use a specific method that helps the wear and tear when getting in and out.
      I have zero regrets with my seats. I have a video coming out Friday with 8 other G8x owners that chime in about their ownership. Some discussed the seat choice too. Hope that will help

    i do alot of track work with mine g80 manual. i have the normal seats and sometimes on some circuits i miss the bucket seats. But in my opinion if you don't track the car you don't need them.

      Yeah I definitely felt the need when I was in the car with the BMW performance school's instructor. I definitely felt snugging that seat as compared to the Comfort seats.

    I’m 5’9”, 190 pounds and very lean. I’m also 45 years old and have had back surgery. Once in the buckets they felt pretty good, but my upper back is wide and I felt a little pinched, pushing my shoulders forward. Between that and no carbon buckets being available when I ordered I went with the standard seats. They don’t look or grip you as good as the carbon buckets, but for me they were the right choice.

    • @eoinj3929

    Quite a comprehensive comparative analysis of the pros and cons of the BMW carbon bucket seats. I think another comparative analysis you may want to conduct would be between the BMW carbon bucket seats vs. the Brembo Carbon Ceramic brakes and the value retention. In the Porsche world GT3's and GT3 RS cars with Porsche Carbom Ceramic Brakes have a higher resale value than non PCCB cars.

      Thank you for checking out the video. That would be quite an interesting video. Me thinking about it now I think a lot of it has to do with how worn out the carbon buckets are. They do look like a pain to re-stitch if need be.

    Great video, and I share the same opinion on a lot of the points you raised!
    I ordered my M3 comp X, and if I picked no other option, I was always getting the carbon bucket seats (ordered in silver stone grey) because as you said, they just look amazing and they are a wow factor and massive talking point for the car.
    Also the way you get in and out of the seat is exactly how I have doing it for years with all my cars to prevent that ugly bolster squash and leather crease that always looks so bad, but again, as you said, our partners don’t like it and mine will often ignore me and just sit on the bolster and slide down it. With the pending M3 though, it will be different as again like you, this will be my future collectors items so I will be insisting.
    Another rule I will be insisting on is no jeans, as the studs/rivets around the pockets could cause significant damage, especially if the passenger has difficulty getting in and out the correct way lifting over the bolster.

    • @TheDailyDriven
      @TheDailyDriven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All great points and congrats on your allocation. Yeah using the right methods are getting in and out has definitely saved my bolster. The tough part is trying to teach it to everybody else sitting in the passenger seat.

    I'm on the north side of 250 lbs, no way would I order the carbon buckets. They look great, but seems harsh for a daily driver. The tough debate for me is manual trans vs getting the comp. I really want the engagement of a manual, but have read a lot of negatives on BMW manual transmissions.

    • @TheDailyDriven
      @TheDailyDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the carbon bucket's definitely aren't for everybody. They look absolutely amazing. So far they fit me well. No complaints yet. The manual transmission is very forgiving. The G80 M3 seats are going to be a lot more of a snug fit. It gives you the grip that the f80 M3 competition seats locked. When it comes to comfort it really depends on how long in how your body shape is. The f80 M3 competition seats ideally would be more comfortable because of its more looser fitting seats

    I’m super torn. I love the look of the carbon buckets and it would be nice to have the extra side support when I’m driving harder, but as someone that drives 8+ hours up and down i95 every other month or so and has to sit in traffic a lot, the comfort seats just appeal way too much. The extra lumbar and thigh support and ventilation are too hard to pass up I think. Especially since the comfort seats are still very well bolstered, have the LED M badge, and similar two tone patches. I’ll take the money I save and buy those full carbon back covers that people like RWC are offering

    • @TheDailyDriven
      @TheDailyDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got to say based on your 8-hour Drive every other month. Then the Comfort Seats might be better suited for you. 8 hours is a lot to do in these seats.
