No one can afford second United States in the form of china atleast in asia right now if we want to truly make it an (Asian century)...work as a whole or face opposite effects.

I love asians in general... We are so much more dynamic and nuanced in our thinking... India, Japan and China should work together to make Asia the new world leaders IMHO

    • @PrimoPete

China has a lot of potential to actually make a proper Asian coalition the likes of which the West has never seen before.
But they are too burdened by their imperial past and their princelings are too short sighted to look beyond anything that isn't Chinese dominance.
Chinese are a betting people and the CCP is betting on pulling off China ruling over the world.
This is also why the Asia at least until China remains so obstinate will not become a world leader.

Got to know so many information regarding geo political and economical information of world..that's real discussion bcoz of this talented decent gentleman Jaishankar not as other politicians who always shout without knowledge..I have not seen a single word of hatred or argument or attack to other party or politicians..that is the difference of politicians from a higher educated and uneducated area.for that reason higher educated society should enter into politics for the benefit of country...

Wow, look at the genius of Jaishankar. The japanese reperesentative tried to cover up the political viewpoint of the arch of freedom. And jaishankar opened a pandora box for him, by mentioning the need of the hour is collaboration of democracies, to protect the abuse of power in the Indo-pacific by China. It was as if he was saying : Aren't you afraid of China?

The Chinese dynamic economic growth is welcomed by all right thinking countries. However the real worry is its territorial expansionist policy that comes with economic growth. The Indo-Pacific strategy is therefore imperative to address this dangerous Chinese actions. Good examples are debt traps in the Maldives, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Pakistan sovereignty as a nation is at risk.

Both are trying to be politically correct about China, while subtly accepting that Elephant in the room is China.China is very wary of a blockade of strait of Malacca hence invested so much money in CPEC knowing very well that India has sovereignty issue in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.Make no mistake OBOR initiative is of China, By China & For China.

Japan's presence in the Indo-Pacific is enhanced because of its leadership in the Asian Bank and the construction and high technology, apart from fishery and tourism industries. The huge land mass of India, with a large access to its southern waters, can be a mirror image of Japan's advance, not its neighbor China or its old ally Russia. However, the strength of federalism must be tested in the regional governments of India in terms of internal road and beltway construction, in short improving GDP via increased economic activities in the state governments.

Quadilateral depend on the shape. is it the Quad is trapezium or parallel o gram or even Rhombus. The pentagon is not a quad but the fifth. The Quad Shape is look like a irregular free and open. no closed shape relationship. so how to build tight relationship when it is open and free when only foreign ministry get involve.

"We don't raise any objection as long as BRI projects meet these 3 or 4-"
    1) Transparent Tender Process
    2) Any Company can participate
    ......
    Etc.,
    Security reasons kept aside.
Also, if you want "friends" to choose between China and Japan, you must assist them in securing their sovereignty. New institutions are needed; Global Development Bank etc., West is no less exploitative but China is not good at all.

I would say that these experts tend to stick to the cold war mindset. Indo- pacific strategy, which claims to secure free navigation and openness, actually aims to counter the influence of BRI. It is very silly to be hostile to China.

Enthusiasm for this concept actually initiated to contain China by Big Brother several years ago has somewhat waned. Indo-Pacific was actively promoted. Interaction between India and Japan was robust and it looked like it was getting a good start - Japan building high speed railway in India and joint development of a belt and road project into Africa was proposed. By 2018, this was no longer the case. India Japan visits were no longer visible. Abe got his wish to visit China. Modi and Xi met 3 times. Discussion on this topic is no longer relevant.

Asia need US$ 22.6 trillions to develop their infrastructures to maintain a decent living standard. US does not has the resources, stay out please. Japan need to compete with China on a level playing field, do not bring in US gun to force your ways through. India need to cooperate with China to tap into her deep pocket and infrastructure development skill, Japan has shown she is too slow and not capable to undertake for last 10 years in your country.

I am sorry to say, but india is not going to get much involved with China, as China has used a lot of unfavorable bullying tactics against India.
By not allowing us in NSG and blocking the anti terrorists funding action in Pakistan by UN.
China due to its government strip gets to exercise much control of people's opinion, that's not the case with India, in india public sentiment have a strong factor, and even if countries open up, people and business will not.
