Interaction between India and Japan was robust and it looked like it was getting a good start - Japan building high speed railway in India and joint development of a belt and road project into Africa was proposed. By 2018, this was no longer the case. India Japan visits were no longer visible. Abe got his wish to visit China. Modi and Xi met 3 times. Discussion on this topic is no longer relevant.
Asia need US$ 22.6 trillions to develop their infrastructures to maintain a decent living standard. US does not has the resources, stay out please. Japan need to compete with China on a level playing field, do not bring in US gun to force your ways through. India need to cooperate with China to tap into her deep pocket and infrastructure development skill, Japan has shown she is too slow and not capable to undertake for last 10 years in your country.
