Just buy 3 or 4mm polyurethane round belt. Cut to size, heat the ends with candle and stick together. Google joining polyurethane belt

    Hi!
I Have the same tk40 as you and the wheel you mentioned at the beginning is also crumbling... Where have you got your replacement? Do you have any number I can search for? I would be really grateful if you could give me a hint!

Old Turntables with an idler wheel can be used. The outside diameter needs to be approximate but the shaft size needs to match.

I changed the belt and clean the valve by
Sand paper and it is ok
What can I do if suddenly the green light doesn't t appear and at the same time no sound

This is quite common when powering up machines not used for a long time. The mains fuse must have blown. The reason the mains fuse flows is most likely, the AC/DC bridge rectifier is shorted internally. I replace these with 4x Diodes in a bridge. Also the main filter capacitors could be drawing more current causing the fuse to blow. You will need basic electronics knowledge to find and fix the problem. The 270V DC that makes the valves work is not there, so no green bar or sound.

When it slows down after 5 minutes, does FF or Rewind work ? How do you get the sound working again ? Most likely is the drive capstan black roller, which pulls the tape past the head is slipping. The black rollers become hard. Need to sandpaper them and the metal drive capstan shaft. If you help turn the reels with your hand when it slows, does it sound ok ? Need a lot more info.

@@pharofirst8386 Sounds like the black capstan roller that pulls the tape past the heads may be hard and slipping. The metal capstan roller should turn with so much force that you should not stop it with your finger. (check the belt that drives the capstan flywheel) The black capstan roller should be pressed hard against the metal capstan shaft in order to pull the tape past the heads and regulate the speed. Check the black capstan roller to make sure it moves freely when you press play and it is pressed against the metal capstan roller. It should pull the tape very strongly. When it slows, try pushing the black capstan roller against the metal capstan roller and see if it gets back to the correct speed.

hello sorry to bother you. I would like to ask you a question. I have the same tape recorder as you but my problem is that on the 3 speeds they are in slow motion. yet I cleaned everything up, removed the old grease and put in the new grease. I cleaned the recording and playback heads but nothing helped. on the other hand at the back there are small circles that we can turn can you tell me if there are one or three that we can turn so that the engine runs faster thank you

Jean Blaise you cannot adjust the speed of the motor. Have you changed the belt from motor to the main flywheel ? Have you cleaned the mechanism of the pressure roller ? If the pressure roller is not putting enough pressure it will cause the tape to slip, also clean the pressure roller
