This is why Flameheart wanted the Shroudbreaker, to follow and punish the reaper runners.
They should have it so if you try to run the Burning Blade into the Red Sea, it just automatically anchor turns you back into the fight you were running from.
@@GobboTheRedCap Imagine not knowing about that then getting anchor turned, yelling at your crew who also don't know what's going on while Flameheart barrages you with insults as you are now sailing directly towards your attacker.

so hyped for season 13!! I do think that with all the new PS5 players they should add some of the adventures (maybe the Herald of the Flame) as tall tales to make sure ppl know the basics as to where we’re at with the lore

@@jerrad123able I doubt the burning blade will be in Safer Seas since the whole mechanic of controlling it and earning tribute was described as "risk/reward" thing with PvP.
@clicherful I don't remember them saying that. Actually, I feel like I remember them hinting at the opposite. Kind of like, "Maybe we'd like to do that, but realistically we're not going to." Never say never, but I wouldn't expect Adventures to come back in the form of Tall Tales, even though I agree they should have just been Tall Tales from the start. Who knows, maybe just brining back that one would be doable?
It seems like Flameheart wants the to know more about the temple given the orb treatment. My guess is that the temple/golden city will be the climax of the war between Athena and reapers. Maybe a tall tale with two paths, a reaper path where you fight the pirate lord and an Athena path where you fight flameheart
Hear me out, we can use Opehlia (the ship, I hope I remembered the name right) from Heart of Fire as an Athena sided battleship. I think it would be a great match for the burning blade since they're the 2 who fought in the book.

I think an Athena equivalent could finally make it the time to use the waterfall in the tavern. The ship previously in there had been sinking for a while. Imagine if it were replaced with some Athena ship, Magpie's wing, Blackwitche, etc. that would be crewed with legend ghosts. Only having one per server, the first PL to take the helm could sail it through the waterfall into combat against a crew manning the Blade. I think it could be a good way of having a large ship on both sides of the conflict without having two of the same world event
I think there needs to be something in place to assist Solos and Duos when they do the Reaper dig sites. Something as simple as a pop-up saying, "The crew reports attackers!" Would go a long way to prevent camping while lower sized crews leave the ship to get the orbs.
Yeah, or maybe if an enemy crew is near, the skeletons on the island start running to defensive positions, which is a more subtle but still clear way of showing that an enemy is nearby.
I would love if they made the water around the burning blade boiling like when a volcano is activated in the DR. Wouldn’t really do much damage so boarding would still be very viable, would just be a cool effect.
I’m hoping for some more Skelton reaper cosmetics. Especially hooded masks
It's kinda surprising we didn't get that, much as I love the reaper skeleton parts. Also what's with the mask not covering the lower jaw.
Yeah, if season 13, the return of Flameheart, the actual leader of the reapers, doesn’t bring us new skelly cosmetics, it would be a bit disappointing.
It has the potential to be insane! A lot of the features do. I cannot wait!

If Flameheart is supposed to get the burning blade.. i do hope it will be a tall tale to help plan and steal it for him from the legend hideout like how it was when we stole it for LeChuck accidentally, rather than it being missing one day and Ramsey's clueless self sitting there unsure of how it could possibly be taken from him a second time.
The context of that too sounds fun, flameheart is powerful and since the blade is technically a part of him, corrupted with his essence, he can probably sense where it is in a general sense, not exact location.
Considering a reapers heart parrot is already there watching.. meaning there are more entrances than just the one we use (like the big hole at the top of the cave) it would be fun to work with him where he may give us something to track his essence in order to hunt down and steal the sworld.. along the way breaking into the legend hideout, slaying unnamed legend ghosts and making off with the blade back to him.
That and I just want more tall tales where we work with the servant and reapers.

You say more ladders need to be guarded, but remember, when the burning blade comes out we’ll have 4 ways to board ships; ladders, deck shots (via cannon or sword dash), harpoons, and the rappel gun. While the ladders statement is true, I believe Rare wants this ship to be boarded and incentivize TDM fights, and less naval, for the soul purpose that the burning blade should stay afloat for the duration of a session being captained by whoever earns the right.
My problem with the 4 ladders is exactly what you said. With such a big ship and only 4 crew, I think having a regular galleon might simply be better against it. Like here:

Ive been thinking a lot about the burning blade, skeleton crew, and how your ship sinks when you take it over... and Im thinking its going to either have unlimited supplies, or supplies that regen over time. They have stated that you can stack tribute infinitely, and this would play into that. Its not like skeletons are going to be running to crates or barrels for supplies? I wonder if the cannons simply wont fire anything other than cannonballs, but dont take ammo.
It would honestly be pretty cool if we had the ability to hire skeletons as extras for our crews. Maybe you could visit reapers hideout and pay the servant to put some skeletons on your ship to help out with repairing or something. I have no idea how that could possibly be balanced but the idea seems pretty cool. Maybe you can hire a skeleton ship to follow you around and act as support during your adventures. Maybe athena players could have the option to have ghosts on the ship as well if you enjoy the ghost aesthetic more.
I was thinking that too! They definitely need to let the Pirate Lord conjure up a can of whoop ass to battle the burning blade👏👏
I would personally love to see the Ophehlia make an apperence. I think a tall tale where we have to finally go locate the ancients hideout in the sea of the damned and attempt to figure out where the ship could be hidden in an attempt to counter flamehearts return. Maybe afterwards we see a territory based war actually take place between Athena and Reapers, maybe you pledge yourself to Athena or Reapers and open a similar warmap to the hourglass but it actually functions like a war map, it shows you multiple areas across the sea and you can attempt raids and attacks, similar to For Honours map where it depends on every single players contribution to capture a territory. And then there could be large scale raids, for example Port Merrick seems perfectly setup for a conquest style battle
See this would be good, but I think, that Rare could implement this by having events every so often, where whichever side wins more hourglass battles, will have an affect on the map. For example, an outpost getting ransacked and being unusable when the Servants are in the lead. Or some of the reaper islands coming in season 12, being taken over by Athena’s fortune, and ghosts, when the Guardians are in the lead. As this would give an extra objective to the burning blade’s crew where you must attack the Guardian controlled dig sites, and complete puzzles at the reaper dig sites. And it would make the Chronicler NPC’s useful as they will actually be able to have new dialogue describing who’s winning and loosing at the moment.

@@FROST-xl7be yeah the Hourglass and Chronicler NPC’S are a missed opportunity to make map changes that affect the ways players play the game.
Thinking that there will be some tweaks at times to balance all the new tools, weapons, and ship. Hard to imagine it coming out perfect as soon as it is launched. Meanwhile....sharks.

A cool idea I hope they do is multiple crews being able to pledge to the ship creating a even bigger crew. Would be terrifying as a solo to be pulled up on by the burning blade Crew by 8 people
Hopefully eventually it will become a common world event where whoever takes it over it will take on the captain’s cosmetics of choice such as the Freedom set for example lol I mean kinda like the pearl this ship will be going through quite a few peoples hands

For the Flame
It would be interesting if the Magpie's Wing, different from the Burning Blade, was a kind of overpowered sloop, slightly fatter, more dynamic, and as powerful as the Burning Blade
I’ve seen a lot of people want the Ophelia come to the game, but the problem is, it’s been sunk, and only some of the Ancients actually knew how to build it, as not every Ancient would’ve taken part in the construction. So it is more likely that if an Athena equivalent came, I’d say a ghostly Magpies Wing, might be more likely, as it was Flameheart who sunk it, so the revenge of the magpies wing, could be a nice way for Athena’s fortune to combat the Burning Blade.
I miss the early days of strong skeletons. Rare might have thought 'lets make it so everyone can do these events' by toning them down but in my opinion that was the worst change possible.
Solo was the harder way to play the game - a more manageable ship for more responsibilities in a tough world. Now though everything scales down so that a galleon is hard mode for most players, and it's not even that much harder. I am PRAYING the burning blade will blast ships away without issues.
So if you want to not deal with open crew and don’t have any friends who want to play then you should just be forced to play on a mode that is already harder, but now you can barely compete world events because they are all scaled to a full galleon. That is honestly one of the worst suggestions I have heard, solo is already hard. Why make it harder so only very skilled players could solo viably
Yeah this is a bit of flawed logic, most Solo players, only play Solo because either nobody they know plays SoT, and they don’t want to do open crew or looking for group posts, as most players leave them once you sink. Or they just want to relax and have fun doing something but nobody’s online. So what you want to happen is these player now, must suffer and have the game be harder? You do realise most new players start out Solo right? Very clearly you haven’t done much solo slooping otherwise you wouldn’t be complaining about, us solo sloopers having an easier time.
@Gobbo_RedRoger Day one player here and almost always solo slooped. I'm definitely in a minority here, but personally, I love challenging games. Key word: challenging. Not tedious. Bashing 50 skeletons with loads of health isn't challenging; it's tedious.
Skeletons back in the day having sharp aim with cannons was part of the challenge. You had to have good positioning against skeleton ships and islands, and with the former there was heavy incentive to board and gun the cannon lines because the skeletons were accurate. If we get the "I'm gonna shoot in the general direction around the ship but miss" on the burning blade I'm going to be severely disappointed. This is a legendary ship owned by one of the most bloodthirsty skeleton lords out there. It shouldn't be an encounter barely harder than a skeleton galleon.
I even remember my first solo Kraken. Took down two arms and got grabbed off so I sank. now the Kraken isn't a threat for solo sloopers - it's a joke. two tentacles and it's gone. Only time it's a threat is if another ship is nearby. That's not challenging - That's tedious.

@@Eric4bz nah but having the game more balanced makes it more fun. I’m not sitting there for 20 minutes cannoning an ashen lord. Like I can see what is fun about it, but still it’s easier and us Solo’s can do more in less time now. I do agree with you that the Burning Blade should have harder to beat skeletons, but it shouldn’t be too hard when scaling to solos, after all it has five cannons, four is devastating enough but a fifth in an are where angle can be gained to shoot the wheel and anchor is mad. Once a player does take over the blade it should standard the Skellies to Galleon strength though.

This is a very risky idea but I think if a crew of 4 takes over the Blade, it should be possible for that crew to invite one or two more people to the ship. I know that sounds terrible but if they AI are not very useful(you never know) it will be bad, as well as the fact that this world event will probably be very replayable and whoever is crewing the ship will most likely have 2 or more player ships attacking them which might be difficult to manage as one gally crew. Honestly depends on how good the AI are in the end. Imagine having 4 ladders to guard, only 4 crew members and a few skeles one your team while fighting something like 2 sloops and a gally..

It means as a solo slooper we finally get that npc crew we always wanted.
wydm a crew can take it, do you mean permently or just for a session.
People keep telling me that the skeles don't repair, but every single time I board their ships to keep their cannons off of my teammates, they are repairing, and very quickly.
I wouldn't be surprised if the burning blade on the pirate lord's desk was a well constructed fake, like maybe the reason we were able to defeat lechuck was because he wasn't wielding the real thing. If flameheart or his minions nicked it from under lechucks nose it would be quite cool, and would explain why the version we get to use ourselves has no magic powers

this new ship reminds me of the 2020 planetside 2 uptate that inplimentet the "bastion fleet carrier" a huge battle ship where only 1 of each fraction can be spawned at the same time but getting attention of the whole server. with this fleet carrier planetside 2 got the world record with 1530 players batteling at the same time on the same battlefield in a online FPS game.
serios i wonder why sea of thieves only allowes 5 ships per server. if you ever played planetside 2, you know how epic it is when hundrets of players batteling for the same outpost. it looks stunning and with good squad leaders its not even that kaotic. i can imagin houndrets of ships batteling in sea of thieves would be also epic
i dont think there should be a athena version as i feel it would take away the uniqueness of the burning blade and how it adds something more to the reapers besides, fight. funni skeleton curse. besides they could just make two burning blades go against each other as there is MANY burning blades now (flameheart can make copies)
They should fr just add this as a new ship you can charter/purchase. Kinda wack for it to be like a event with only one on each server highkey

@@FatYoshi504 it is a bigger ship but not with bigger crew and its a pve locd one so u cant do hourglass or dive with it. Not even sure that u can keep when the server dies (happening often npwdays) and will it come with u or not.

We're getting more and more examples of AI help. Please Rare! Add AI crew for standard ships! I don't think people are talking about this enough, and would love if one of the creators did a video on it. Hell I've already thought of a way to do it too, especially now that we have summonable skeletons.
You just answered your request. Summonable skeletons. The bone caller is the answer to Ai crewmates that people have been asking for. You just have to find one while sailing around in Season 12 and after.
@@GobboTheRedCap No, that doesn't change anything. If you have a 4v1. You can just use 4 bonecallers to their 1, so now it is a 20v5 assuming each bonecaller summons 4 skele's. If they don't stack, it is still a 8v5. The bonecaller does not change anything. It is just another weapon we get to use.
We also don't have confirmation, as far as I am aware, of if they can man cannons or help around the ship. So if they can't fire cannons, bail water, change sails, raise anchor, or repair damage they are basically just anti-boarders which isn't a crewmate. YOU still have to do everything, which means your still pretty much stuck on the Sloop if your solo.
Also you just said it yourself, you have to FIND it, you can't rely on it. So that is not the same as a permanent crewmember.
So please, explain how this solves AI crew when they can't be your crew?
@@trathanstargazer6421 Well if you want to look at it that way. Why not just get a crew using methods like, Looking For Group, SoT Discord, SoT Forums? Solo playing is always harder regardless of the changes made. If you want a crew find a crew rather than complaining about not having one. The bonecaller will help solo players by allowing them to do stuff that a second crewmate could do, such as boarding to apply pressure, or relieve stress. And judging by how the team at Rare described it in the preview, whose not to say that they aren’t working on giving the skeletons spawned by the bonecaller the ability to bilge and cannon. Sadly larger crews will always be able to beat a solo player regardless of if Ai crewmates are added or not. So instead of complaining that Solo has been made easy and that Ai crewmates should be added to make it easier. Go on open crew, go on Looking For Group Posts. That’s how you find a crew if you don’t have one. If that’s not you want to do, go ahead and play Solo. But don’t expect to have an easy time fighting larger crews. As you said Solo has always been the “hard mode” for Sea Of Thieves, deal with it or find another game, apparently Skull and Bones is more solo friendly, is what Ive been hearing from some people.
If a solo player on the Burning Blade can overrun a galleon with sheer manpower, then I’ll feel content.

Sad news, Rare confirmed the cancellation of Adventures. But I do agree this would be a cool idea.
While this is very unlikely, I'd personally love to see this event spark the addition of a proper man o war if the server stability issues get fixed. That's a far off dream, but I'd still love for it to be a thing
i was hoping they made the amount of resources for hourglass fixed so theres no advantage to the players that abused tall tales for mountains of supplys

Very excited for the burning blade. The hourglass idea sounds a little too ambitious, unfortunately. I’m still perplexed as to why we can’t hourglass AND make use of the new season 11 diving to voyages mechanic at the same time. This decision has killed the HG player base even further. Theres no more passive HG play available really.
Every time I see it I will shout "Look out it's a man o war sir".

How to get the ship?
Ok as a solo player, what’s the point of taking it over? If I’m playing solo and even manage to sink it, it would be so difficult to take it down
What I'm concerned about is how Flameheart will get the sword. How? If I had to say, it would be someone betraying us. All of my gold, about 400,000, is on it being Belle. I never liked her. Something is off with her compared to every other member of Athena's Fortune.
I just want to be able to play with more than 4 players
i dont think an athena man of war would be good

you could simply make it that if you sell the burning blade you get servant alliegance
but if you sink it you get guardians alliegance

Assuming that the world event would be easy enough for players with at least a month experience to complete skelly/athena curses will lose it’s popularity and eventually fall into the “noob curses” category

I genuinely wish this game wasn’t cosmetic based.
I haven’t played in a while but if this game was built like an rpg it would be amazing.
Being able Build or buy islands or houses, buying ships and ship upgrades. Buying supplies such as ammo, fire bombs etc.
Having an actual world economy would’ve been amazing having players run cargo ships for large payouts while pirates hunt them down.
A larger player count per server would’ve been amazing.
Best comparison I can give for what I’m talking about is star citizen, that game has a real economy that changes according to players buying and selling patterns.
