Haha Mark the hot beef bowl is great stuff. You can just whip up the egg, pour it over the beef, & mix it quickly to coat everything. It cooks the egg with the heat of the rice. You can do the same thing with just the rice & a little sesame oil & it's one of my favorite breakfast foods of ever!!!!
Mark the second bedroom with the bunk beds is an odd entrance because it was a walk-in closet at some point. They just added bunk beds for more sleeping space. Seems practical for a large family.
Just a little thought on the first bedroom that connects to a second bedroom - I think it’s like a nursery so the parents can sleep in their own bed but be near the child or children should they cry in the middle of the night or whatever. I’m a short person, so I would comfortably sleep in a bunk bed. If your sister in law prefers something more spacious I bet she could use the room near the kitchen. Japanese living is all about functionality. So yes, it may seem inconvenient to have one bathroom, but it’s divided so many people can use it all at once. Personally I love the toilet and the all wet bath.... I dream of having one of my own someday. Great to see you and the family. I’m back on my regular Mark Wiens schedule now. Yay!!!
I lived in Sapporo city for 10 years before, I love the city. Especially I recommend a convenience stores are called "Seico Mart". The convenience store has lots of original good food and drinks. Check it out!
You are right! Instant coffee is a no no!! Nothing can match filter coffee and especially a sugarless coffee, it enhances the flavours. Just like biting a fresh cookie or biscuit with no sugar. Just awesome. I just can't resist the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Intoxicating.
You ever meet John Daub from Only in Japan? He recently did collaboration with Mikey Chen from Strictly Dumpling. Loved your collaboration with Mikey Chen in Thailand. Love to see both of you together.
I'm so happy that you are doing where you stay videos again. It's a bit ironic because I have just watched your Mark Abroad videos for a second time. I hope that you had an awesome time in Japan. Xx
Hello Mark, Ying and Micah! 😁 Thank you so much for the tour..I loved the comforters on the beds. They keep you so warm but, they are so very light weight..Very nice apartment. Take care , God Bless you and your Precious Family!🍃❤🍃
This was hilarious on so many fronts!!! Baby Micah and the vacuum= priceless and hilarious!! Then the sink! “Yea, it’s a sink!” Then the NES/Cafe/Espresso/Barista.... Mark = Uhhh No!!! Thanks for sharing! 🤣 😂🤣😂🤣

Mark I know you LOVE coffee. I was there for 3 weeks. You should definitely try all the bottles and canned coffee from convenient stores/supermarkets. They come in cold in the fridge or hot from the fridge warmer. Yes that’s right, the fridge is a warmer. Usually has coffee and tea stocked on its shelf for warm and toasty beverage.
I hope you tried curry ramen, , Sapporo ramen, and seafood bowl at Otaru and mutton yakiniku while you were there. And that’s how you eat beef bowl, the hot rice will partially cooked the egg.
Mark, when we were in Japan last year we were eating Sukiya everyday. My 8year old son who is very picky eats Sukiya beefbowl everyday. ❤️ from Los Angeles!
Nailed it ! Starting with breakfast was a surprise and super interesting bonus - thanks for sharing the details of the apartment too - informative and insightful. Hello from London : - )

Good Sunday Mark, Ying & Ying' s sister, and little guy Micah! Is this a first snow and first winter weather experience for Micah?👍⛄❄
Pour the egg then mix it with the beef. It'll cook as it sits in the beef. My mom and grandfather is from Sapporo.
aren't you supposed to stir it first then pour?

Nice video Mark!
Japan is the best!
Nice, you can stir the egg and dip the beef, but better to mix it with the hot rice. It makes the rice luxurious.
Mark is such a happy person, I wonder if anything ever gets to him, it just doesn't seem so by looking at his miles.
