Hi bud I do a few vw’s, I would try the wire to the oil pressure switch. If you take the wire off the sensor and connect a piece of wire to it and earth it to the engine somewhere, all the sensor does is create an earth signal so if you do this and the oil pressure still comes on then there’s a break in the wire somewhere. Great video and tips thanks! I’ve got the same 2.0 bkd, I’ve just cleaned egr, inlet manifold and changed oil and filter. Now I’m getting the “oil pressure engine off’ warning I’ve already had the sump off and it was all clean also changed the pressure sensor, any ideas? I’m hat to try next?
Hi bud sorry for the delay check the wiring to the pressure switch as I’ve seen these fail loads 👍 it should be earth so you can try earthing the wire to see if the light goes out then you’ll know if it’s that.
Thanks for the reply DT! It was the oil pressure switch plug not pushed on enough as the new sensor wasn’t original vw so I removed a little rubber grommet from the plug which allowed it push on more! She’s running a treat again with decent mpg! Cheers 👍🏼
Hey bud so it’s all depending on the life of a vehicle so maybe this one didn’t have as many services, it doesn’t take to long the take the sump off so definitely worth a check 👍
Good video, thanks for this warning (if I don't like the way someone talks I just mute it and switch on captions, but you're ok with me) - oil light has come on my bkd at about 120,000 miles, I'll do this job tomorrow. I change oil with the best I can get with a new filter at 6000 miles tops. I see a couple of comments about the oil pump in these engines - any pointers as to what I should do? Also, I usually use a thin smear of hylomar blue but it looks as if you've used a thicker sealant? Cheers, Phil
Hey Phil sorry for the delay, ah man really appreciate the feedback 👍👍 have you done this job? These BKD’s don’t suffer with oil pumps it’s the A4’s and the passats. Yes I use a silicone type sealent for sumps. Let me know if I can help 👍 I’ll reply this time. Thank you
@@YTDTETV cheers mate - oil pressure gauge reads 5bar☺️. I found a lot of rusty earth connections to chassis behind the left headlamp, cleaned them up & that particular warning disappeared! There are also suddenly a lot of fault codes and the car is running erratically though, so when I get time I'm going to look🤞 more closely at the wiring harness & the ECU connector...
Diesel makes the oil dirty... to avoid these problems just change the engine oil every 5/6000 km and maybe use a flush to run in the engine 10 minutes before draining the old oil. I had several analyzes done by an engine oil laboratory and after 5000 km the contaminants in the oil are already at the limit of tolerance, especially in direct injection turbo engines.
Hey bud yes diesel oil is always dirty, I had a customer that had an oil and filter every 6k and he never had an engine break. I never knew why diesels where always dirty but now I do so really appreciate your comment 👍👍
@@YTDTETV Diesel contains heavier hydrocarbons than petrol, this fuel is burned by detonation therefore with a higher compression ratio and produces lower temperatures than petrol. the combination of these factors produces a greater quantity of carbon residues and a greater blow-by effect so that the oil gets dirty very quickly. the carbon residues, in addition to having an abrasive effect, increase the quantity of acids, the oxidation of the oil and reduce the quantity of Zinc present in the oil, Zinc together with phosphorus constitute a very important EP additive ZDDP which prevents wear of engine components, especially those made of steel.
@@edogsx wow I had to read it twice but I got it 👍👍 someone on Facebook said why would a diesel sump have more crap in the sump and dirty oil over a petrol and I wasn’t 100% sure but I replied I think it’s blow by in the cylinder. I also said that it’s more modern diesel engines due to the filters in the exhaust causing excess heat a pressure in the cylinders causing even more blow by. I don’t know if you have a TH-cam channel but I’m going to look now as you certainly know your stuff. Thank you for your comments 👍👍 You do I’m subscribed 😊

Hi mate, love the vids. I've got a BKD Jetta with a little issue, when rolling in neutral (clutch up) at very low speed, like coming to a stop for example, the engine misfires harshly and shakes the whole car. When I come fully to a stop it completely goes. If I'm in gear or the clutch is pressed down it runs perfectly... am i right in thinking flywheel? You seem like a very knowledgeable guy with these PD engines so thought you were the guy to ask. Cheers
Hi Charlie thank you mate appreciate that 👍👍, so when your slowing down and clutch up it’s misfiring then as you stop and depress the clutch it straightens up? If so first thing I reckon would be to look at the crank sensor, reason is when you press the clutch down it will ever so slightly move the crank and flywheel towards the sensor then as you let off it will move away slightly. That’s a pure stab in the dark without seeing it, does it have any fault codes stored?
@@YTDTETV Hi, thanks for the response. If I’m stopped with clutch up (idle) it’s fine, if I’m rolling with clutch down it’s fine. It’s only if I’m rolling when the clutch is up in neutral (coasting). No faults stored and have logged the injectors as I know BKD’s are common for injector loom issues and all seems fine. Apart from this it drives impeccably.
@@YTDTETV actually another thing that may be worth noting is that when starting sometimes it throws the whole car about with the rocking of the engine. Doesn’t really struggle at all but you really feel it.
@@charliemetcalfe6753 no worries happy to help, it is possible that the injector loom is playing up as any movement causes the same issue. If you work it out let me know 👍

Have you got a list of the cleaning fluids you used and the mastic?
get low oil pressure on my mk3 1.6 caddy on 226.000 is it roughy the same to do on a 1.6 ,I'm thinking it could be the oil pick up after watching this very helpful video ,I've also got another issue with it filling up with desil around the injectors ,the injectors seem fine the van starts well and pulls well so I'm thinking its the return pipes leaking if not any ideas what I could do without taking injectors out I was thinking they might not have changed the injector seals when the injectors were done
Excellent Info!
What happened to the golf from this video Nathan? Love the content
Hi bud I do still have it but it needs a lot of new parts and £££’s
Great video and tips thanks!
I’ve got the same 2.0 bkd, I’ve just cleaned egr, inlet manifold and changed oil and filter.
Now I’m getting the “oil pressure engine off’ warning
I’ve already had the sump off and it was all clean also changed the pressure sensor, any ideas? I’m hat to try next?
Hi bud sorry for the delay check the wiring to the pressure switch as I’ve seen these fail loads 👍 it should be earth so you can try earthing the wire to see if the light goes out then you’ll know if it’s that.
Thanks for the reply DT!
It was the oil pressure switch plug not pushed on enough as the new sensor wasn’t original vw so I removed a little rubber grommet from the plug which allowed it push on more!
She’s running a treat again with decent mpg!
Cheers 👍🏼
Shit man that was bad! I now feel paranoid about my T5, sump might be coming off soon 👀
Hey bud so it’s all depending on the life of a vehicle so maybe this one didn’t have as many services, it doesn’t take to long the take the sump off so definitely worth a check 👍
How to replace the oil pressure sensor on a 2013 Volkswagen Touran Diesel TDI
Thank you for your comments 👍👍
You do I’m subscribed 😊
1.6 tdi Cayc engine, i got problem with low oil pressure. New oil pump, cleaned pickup pipe, fresh oil and filters. My mechanic says only 0.5 bar at idle and around 1 bar at 2000rmp (75 celc temp) which is still not enough. What to check next?
Hey man I am doing the same for vw amarok 2014 oil pressure light...just wondering how to remove front member crossing look like it's welded...I want to get more access...but now very less space mate
Hi have a Volkswagen crafter Luton kids coming up with intermittently low oil pressure switch off engine when you switch off disappears and then it will come on again later that day. Just had a new turbo fitted. Any advice as the garage is going round in circles
Nice job 👍
Thanks howie appreciate that mate 👍
Hello mate would this make the car just crank and not start ?
Hey mate good video. What specific oil do you put in the PD lump's?
Hi bud thank you, the pd engine actually has its own 5w40 pd oil but I’ve used normal 5w30 many times with no issue 👍
If you work it out let me know 👍
@@YTDTETV thanks mate, only thing that put me off that idea was the difference when the clutch is down. It’s
Nice
What is the shaft screw tightening torque?
Your Caddy has a oil pump belt ?
Thank you
Hey bob I don’t normally use a torque wrench unless I’m doing something super important, I think the oil pump has a small chain coming from the crankshaft.
@@YTDTETV
Mine is 1.6 tdi CR 2012 and the oil pump is belt driven
I'm interested in shaft screw tightening torque the one that is removed with 19 socket.
quick one - I've got a VW TDI (B7 CFFB) and just replaced the turbo (107,000 miles) old one was burning oil. But new one is dripping oil from the exhaust side turbo seals. Return feed is clear, I checked all pipes before the refit. Is a block somewhere causing excess pressure in the sump? What things should I check? I'm handy with the tools, just would rather get a few ideas before throwing away this otherwise great car (VW CC 2012)
Hi bud it may take a fair few miles to clear all the old oil out after fitting a new turbo, sometimes up to 50 miles.
Good video , no bullshit
Hey bud sorry for the delay, thank you appreciate that 👍
Yes mate spot on service on my b6 2.0 tdi £30 oil and filter all in. And the DPF and turbo whent bang a year ago so I know exactly what your talking about £800 later 😭
Hey bud yes oil and filter is really cheap yet some people think it’s ok to skip it as the car is running fine. It’s a good idea to have a DPF delete and remap it makes a massive difference on engine longevity. Thank you for your comment 👍
@@YTDTETV yes my car is about 210 bhp with abit of remapping dsg aswell but I'm selling it as want something cheaper
@@twes5563 very nice I do like an auto 👍
Mine is due for service/MOT in Jan Bro, i know for a fact mine needs tlc on the filters and oil!
Hey bro I did change yours just before I got it but yes an oil and filter change is alway a good idea 👍
I have this motor ❤️ I need detailed DIY videos even if it takes 1hour I'll watch it.
Hi bud it did only seem to be one of the BKD engines I looked at so a good oil flush with oil and filter change should clean the pick up pipe without removing the sump.
Thank you
Had low oil pressure warning on my vaux zafira tourer 2.0 cdti turned out to be pick up seal failure common problem £700 to drop sump and replace ... ouch
Hey Pete I’ve not delved into to Vauxhalls much, ouch that’s a few quid 👍
Afternoon brother, 🍿
Hello sir 👍👍
nice dobo the man
Thank you sir appreciate that 👍👍
I keep having this problem with my ibiza 1.6tdi 3rd time in a year it been resaly looked after service ontime or before needing it any ideas why it keeps happening? Thank you if you get back to me
Check also your hex drive in oil pump is my advice..........you know what i mean as a 2.0 tdi owner...greets!
Hi bud the hex drive only breaks in the 2.0tdi engines with the balance shaft it doesn’t fail on these. I had an Audi a4 that it failed so I removed the complete balance shaft and fitted the normal oil pump.
Hey bud i have a 2.0 tdi Amarok with a flashing red oil light, I've changed the oil all looks good, switch has also been replaced but still have the blinking oil light. Someone mentioned it might be the oil pump thats on its way out.
Where should i start,
Sorry for delay just double check the wiring to the oil pressure switch as sometimes the ends corrode and have a weak connection 👍
@@YTDTETV thank you for your feedback.
I have relaced the oil pump recently. I have tried grounding the switch itself to the head of the engine and the wiring is still perfect. But i still have the persistence of the oil light. There's no definite reason or proof that i can see that something is causing it.
how did you remove those bolts that are near the transmission? I cant reach it with the hex or 10mm socket
Hey bud watch the next video on the white maxi coming out tonight I explain exactly this 👍
Should check bearings while sump of
You are right Damian 👍
I have a 2016 t6 vw caravelle. It has low pressure but I've changed the oil pump and pressure sensor, oil cooler housing, tested the oil cooler and the test was fine. The pressure reduces when the engine is hot. Please help
Did you fix this? Interested to know what it was?
My mate has this low oil pressure problem on his 2008 tiguain
Hello❤,
I got today this message Oil Preassure Engine Off i drive VW Golf 5 2005 BKD.
I need to clear or maybe need to changed Oil pump????😊
Hi 👍 I would first change oil and filter, then the oil pressure switch and lastly whip the sump off and check inside the pickup pipe. I think the oil pump will be ok.
Hello there mate. I have a 2.0 2016 crafter and the oil pressure warning has come on. Would this be the same issue.
Baz
Hi baz.. your engine is the common rail engine so a little different. First thing I would try is oil pressure switch - oil & filter. The pressure switch is on the right hand side of the block just round the back little bit hard to see but it’s there. Try those first run for a minute and if it’s doesn’t fix then take the sump off 👍
Hi wat should the pressure be ?
Hi! Do you know if the transporter T5.1 have a belt or a chain for the pump?
Hi bud sorry for the delay I think it’s a chain but not 100% sure, thanks
Hello there I have a 2010 cc 2.0 I have low oil pressure warning it's misfiring and klunking when I accelerate. The oil pan is covered in carbon i changed the coils and plugs and the pcv valve 113,000 miles do you think it's the same problem? Thank you
Did you find out what went wrong? I have possibly a similar situation
i also got bkd engine the low oil pressure flashes up when the engine cranks over for 30 sec but i will be taking the sump off to cleaning it. i bought it as a none runner but this time last year the turbo went bang as i was driving home a lot of white smoke thought lol
do you know of any other common faults ?
Hey Ashley 👍 I’ve blown a few turbos on these and they smoke a little for a while after till it’s all cleared out, I know that some of the early BKDs have a porous head so leak water but I have 2 early ones and never had a problem 👍
Hi mate. Did this cause a slow start on it? Mine takes 5 seconds each time
Hi Lou surprisingly this one started nice and easy, does yours turn over slower? I wonder if it’s a tired starter motor.
Hi mate do u have any wiring diagram for putting a bkd engine in a caddy thanks
Hi bud have you seen the video I made on the BKD caddy swap?
@@YTDTETV yes mate I didn't know if u had any wiring diagram or a list lol
@@stephenmccready4654 hi bud so I did put the glow stick plug wiring in the description, I write the first part up abit later 👍
I have 2012 VW Sharan. oil pressure warning light comes on straight after moving. change oil pressure switch, oil ,Oli filter, oil pick up pipe. still not solved. anyone have any idea.
I would check the wiring to the oil pressure switch, try earthing the wire to the engine block somewhere as all the pressure switch does is earth the wire out while running, if you try that and the oil pressure light comes still then the wire is broke somewhere
@@YTDTETV Thank you
Would a engine flush sort this m8
Hi bud it would definitely help yes but once it clogs in the pickup pipe I don’t know if it would clear completely
I have oil leaking from under my gear box it as a vw simble with 3 bolts been tryin to find some1 to let me no wot part its called or if its bad or do i just need a new seal the leak isnt that bad its never driped on the floor just around the seal
Its a vw caddy 62 tredline 1.6
