The Mimic1 program being Glitchtrap also does a fantastic job of clearing up the character of Tape Girl. Up to this point, she's been kind of weird. We had the impression that she detected the virus, took some steps to destroy it, but then became corrupted and ended up laying a trap for the next tester instead. But that leaves a lot of problems. Where did she go? If she was possessed, she should have been Vanny instead of Vanessa, but she wasn't. She apparently just up and disappeared after setting the trap, possessed enough to set this up, but not enough to do anything else.
But this fixes all that. Tape Girl detected the problem, took steps to quarantine it, and left a warning for future testers about it, then quit and went on her way, thinking her job was done. But this taught the Mimic1 program how to create and hide tapes in the virtual environment, so it made the later ones that set up the trap, allowing it to finally succeed on its third try. We know it can perfectly imitate voices.

If I'm not mistaken, she introduces herself twice as well. I always thought that had to do with Glitchtrap possessing her, but he was just mimicking her. I feel like this new villain could be really cool, if done correctly!

Actually, I have a headcanon that Vanessa (I don’t believe she’s Vanny, btw-) is Tape Girl.
This is because in one of the retro CDs, she says this weird line, “I have compartmentalized him! He’s locked away.”
I assumed she was referring to Glitchtrap/Malhare and how she “locked him” away; in one of the TG’s logs, she mentions how she broke the files into pieces, along with the “anomaly” that attached itself to them. Then, after leaving a warning, she resigns from the project and moves into the IT department.
Not to mention, I listened to both of their voicelines, and they sound kinda similar.

Ruin kind of undoes that though. Glitchtrap helpy and Gregory mimic argue over who helps Cassie more, for instance. And what about the murder depictions in help wanted? Those weren't originally in the game, they're implied to be a direct result of glitchtrap, but rye also says that's what teaches the mimic? I don't buy it personally, glitchtrap is Afton, mimic is burntrap imo

My favorite thing about this is that it restores Henry's "Don't keep the devil waiting, old friend" speech to being meaningful again. I was so annoyed by the idea that Afton could somehow come back after that truly incredible ending, and "Burntrap" and "Glitchtrap" just being a wild AI that is 'rehashing' Afton's greatest hits but also spiraling into being a bigger threat than he ever was is an excellent way to bring things back onto a track that can move forward.

I agree. William needs to stay dead. That “digital consciousness via circuitboards allowed him to come back to life” thing was reeeealllly pushing it. Unchecked/unmanaged AI learning from him and repeating his actions feels like a much better way to keep his legacy going while also letting Henry have his victory and ending William’s story completely. This is just an AI that was fed True Crime podcasts until it thinks it’s a serial killer, not the rereREturn of a super dead guy via.. Scanning a haunted motherboard and using a VR game to hijack a playtester’s mind and then, somehow, be reanimated into the same body that is stuck inside an older-than-dirt animatronic bunny suit that Henry reduced to ash who knows how many years ago. Something that's cool about this Mimic story, too, is that it has some cool symbolism you can play with. Kids themselves are mimics, learning from copying the adults in their lives, especially their parental figures. What if, symbolically, the Mimic's backstory is about the fear of a parent for failing to be a good role model? Or perhaps even the consequences of abuse. You allow your anger to take control, do something horrible--and they learn violence. And the cycle of abuse and pain continues.
Overall the Mimic is more like a sci-fi take on a copycat killer, but the added backstory of him being meant as a companion for a young child really makes it fit into the overall themes is the FNAF story as being a story about the lasting effects of violence and trauma.

@@placeholderdoe That's because everyone fall for the "William Afton is totally the true villain. Henry isn't sus. Scraptrap having none of William's animatronic talents isn't sus." It's a mystery series. They're never this obvious with the killer.
What's funny is that the fnaf6 protagonist plays the arcades has her face reflected on the screen in "Fruity Maze", Susie. The implications of this are pretty huge. One, William actually asked Michael to put HER back together. Not Baby, since we know that Elizabeth was always packed into one completed piece. She didn't need to be put back together. Michael never went to the fnaf6 location after his next mission was to find his father. The fact that Scraptrap lacks William's eyes heavily implies that someone (Michael) has took them before the events of fnaf6, and William's soul (represented by his eyes) has left the body before fnaf6.
This also brings into questioning why Henry was so desperate to kill "the one who witnessed everything". William saved her and fnaf4 provides evidence that Susie could be an Afton because her dog (Mangle) and the fruity maze flowers were painted into a portrait in her room. The book trilogy heavily hints that some of the MCI victims in the trilogy are actually William's bastard children. For example, MICHAEL Brooks is Michael Afton in the games.
William's big secret item in fnaf4, the box, was an atari that could recreate memories of tragic events and create minigames like the ones we see throughout fnaf. If fnaf6 shows us anything, some of WIlliam's games (Midnight Motorist, Fruity Maze, Security Puppet) and entertainment devices (Storyteller) contain secrets he's trying to leak out into the public. Secrets Henry is trying to hide. Why would the supposed MCI killer try to reveal the truth about Freddys as Henry and Fazbears try to bury it?

    • @justice8718
      @justice8718 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @tinaherr3856

@@SplashCity46 I think there are two possible explanations. One that Glitchtrap is more closely related/mimicking Afton during his murders, with luring in victims and manipulation. Burntrap, on the other hand, is less refined, shifting along and being less direct with attacking, at least when they wake up. They try to hack Freddy, instead of attacking you himself.
The other is that Glitchtrap's name is more literal. He is an unintended product of the vr game, an anomaly, a glitch not intended by the developers. He also traps the player in the endings of Help Wanted. Either through the seal/lock, or on an animitronic on the stage while he dances. And that's not even going into the mind control stuff he does with Jermy, Tape Girl, and Vanessa.
So Glitchtrap is both an unintended product of the game (a "glitch") and is trapping people. Burntrap, on the other hand, isn't so literal in his name. He doesn't burn people (he just get poorly burned himself). He doesn't even trap people. Gregory and Freddy just fall into the basement by themselves. Burntrap doesn't do anything to lure them there, they go their on their own

@@tinaherr3856 I'm still of the opinion that the Pizza Party ending is the one Fazbear Entertainment intended, as no matter how many tapes you have, the yellow Bonnie costume appears in full form and is fluidly animated, as opposed to the twitchy and ghostly Glitchtrap/Malhare. This leads me to the idea that Glitchtrap is copying the model of the Pizza Party ending's William stand-in as its own avatar, instead of creating the model from scratch. If the Mimic1 theory is correct, this would somewhat make sense, as it is mimicking the appearance and behavior of something that is already present in the game.

Burntrap no longer takes away from Henry's ending, which was one of the biggest complaints. Henry still won, because his goal was to set the children free and save his daughter. William may have achieved his goal in some way, but even if he could know that, I'm sure he's too busy being tortured to care. William got his comeuppance. According to wikis (which I have no clue where the information comes from) the TFTPP series was "revealed" in October 2021 and the first book released in Jul 2022.
Since I don't know if "reveal" means that they simply announced the project before they started/were in early stages, or if they announced the books themselves as if they're near the end of the creative pipeline, I can't really put a real time behind how long it took to write them or when they started.
Even so, I find it extremely unlikely that they were writing the books at least two years prior to their announcement, hell even either before or alongside Help Wanted's release.
On top of that not even releasing the first book until a little less than a year later than that.
Through pure assumptions I'd suggest that AT BEST they started writing the books in late 2021. Likely as a reaction to the fact that they're about to mangle the story in its last minute rework due to the deadline.
That's why they confirmed it by October 2021 but still took 9 months to release the first book and strategically spaced out the releases of books by months to continue working on them while they're actively being released.
Best case scenario the books, and by extension the mimic, were starting to be written in sometime around June 2021 at the earliest. 6th months before SB's release.
But considering the 9 month gap between the announcement of the series and the release of the first book I would assume that the book series was conceptualized closer to October 2021, somewhere between June and September 2021, but hadn't begun writing until their announcement in October 2021...
Conveniently two weeks before SB's last trailer and release date confirmation where it's revealed the game took a severe gameplay AND story shift within the last ~5 months.
Almost as if in preparation for the eventual backlash and trashstorm the "finished" SB story ended up with.
It is very much a retcon. The entire game and story looked different in a trailer released 8 months before the book series was confirmed to be made in comparison to the last trailer it got two weeks after the book series confirmation.

"No, your life, your aim will save those with soul." Sounds to me like Henry knows she's STILL there even after the FNAF 6 fire and because he knows she's not content to disappear while there's still people to save, even if the best she can do is try, her efforts will save those she's still trying to protect. • @justice8718
      @justice8718 ปีที่แล้ว +4

No. I feel that Edwin will most likely be William Afton because he's the talented man in the games that loses his company (Afton's Robotics) to Henry (Fazbears), the CC resembles David, and William Afton actually has vanished and reappeared at various times in fnaflore. For example, William is actually walking around under his "Dave" alias in Fnaf SB.
But I massively prefer Edwin being his own character with the Mimic being this tragic "twin son". It actually seems more fitting for Edwin to be "Book Henry" and deal with the consequences of granting this once soulless being a life it never asked for. And the abandonment and hatred that scarred the Mimic.

    A) you need to back them up and/or angle them away from the wall more. You can mount them with spacers so they stand an inch or two away and from a flat camera angle you wouldnt be able to tell.
    B) you might want to look into diffusion gels. It might just be a function of the types of bulbs and/or lense. What you really want is a soft box, but that isnt super feasible with the fixture on screen like this. Diffusion gels or bulbs with frosted glass would be the next best thing. Also might need to be paired with higher intensity bulbs/fixtures to compensate.

Ok I’ve got a major problem with this theory. When the mimic is transferred into VR, it’s only 2 previous things it mimicked would have been Charlie and Henry, specifically, Henry’s moment of pure anger, rage, and blind violence. In VR, there’s mentions of things like child murder and stuff, but the mimic isn’t mentioned to copy things it hears about, only things it sees. There are only 2 places to get behaviors form in the game: a strong desire for survival, from the players playing, and senseless murder from the animatronics. There’s no context for any of what’s happening for it to glean a more sadistic, calculated and efficient approach to murder, just more senseless violence. It’s have no reason to take the form of glitchtrap. Springtrap doesn’t have any context within the bounds of VR, it’s just another animatronic, and even if it decided to take the form of Springtrap, it would be an exact copy, because the mimic perfectly mimics what it sees, and there’s no other character that looks anything like glitchtrap, and even if I did look past all that, when it gets out, it has no good reason to make the pizzaplex, and also where does it get the power to hypnotize/take over people from??? This just doesn’t make any sense.

As soon as I got through The Mimic story I instantly thought it was meant to parallel Henry! Finally someone brought it up. There’s even some other things that stood out to me, such as if Henry is the one burning down the restaurants and not Mike, the story has him ‘tampering with animatronics’ daily when he changes the mimics programming every day. One line that stood out to me as odd but important was David saying to his dad how ‘he stinks’ after working on the animatronic all night - ‘odour’??? More evidence of Henry’s involvement maybe?
Also he has an only child who dies, by a car accident. Henry has only child who dies and whilst not getting hit by car, the car is very important in her death scene as Willy races away afterwards.
It also seems to indicate that Henry disappeared from the company after his grief but that years later he returns and sees the horrors resurfacing from his days. I think this makes sense as him rejoining the company much later realising it’s not over yet.
I also think that epilogue 6 with the mimic copying voices and pretending to be someone needing help is important - whether it was relating to the tapes in VR where it develops the tapes stating that they all need to be found contrary to previous tapes, or whether it relates to Gregory in ruin asking for help… not fully decided on all of it yet but it opens a lot of possibilities

Also another issue with the Mimic is that through this theory it would seem the Mimic is behind everything thats behind Security Breach. The problem with that though, is why would it Mimic the victims of William, if William is who its trying, to Mimic, and what about the Blob, if that is also, the Mimics doing, then why would the Blob attack Burntrap. The issue with making the Mimic the main villain, it it shys away from the Supernatural roots the franchise was formed on, as well as it, doesnt leave room to expand upon remnant and agony, when dealing with ais, as why would a computer program need remnant to stay alive, when its just a program, that would mean, it would be killing for the sake of it rather than to harness life.
Also, there is so much evidence pointing to Cassidy being in princess quest, and Michael still being around somewhere. I like to believe that some of the horrors of Freddys past, did not die so easily rather than just righting it off as an ai that mimics everything, being the culprit. It creates a similar scenario to dream theory, where its an interesting concept, but isn't satisfying narratively.

"The Mimic being burntrap makes no sense , they look nothing alike, yes typical bunny years skeleton but they look too different"
as if the mimic can't change it's shape (or replace parts), besides, burntrap's model is pretty much an asset flip design, so really, the differences in design hardly hold
"burntrap very well knows who he is , he has the powers, probably the memory of Afton and is afton"
or it's simply the mimic having the memory of afton through glitchtrap
"another issue is the fact that burntrap has fully grown teeth and has more flesh somehow then the original spring trap which can only be explained by regeneration being that Williams soul is still in there with remnant making him regenerate to some extent while also having the ability to hack anything from glitch trap"
or the mimic is simply wearing a corpse like it did with kelly's corpse inside the blue dog costume, also, the mimic is said to be able to tamper with electricity like light and radio, essentially, glitchtrap being a part of burntrap gives a point towards it being the mimic even more than afton
      "the mimic is not Afton"
no one said he is, it's just that afton is not the mimic

very good theory, and props to the guy who had the idea to translate the endos into morse code. personally i believe that the tales are fully canon and that edwin is a real character, however it doesn't change much when we reach similar conclusions about the mimic anyway, however there's something i disagree with, i think that freddy is possessed, there's some evidence for it to be the case and it feels narratively obvious for him to be possessed from the role he has in the story and his relationship with gregory. most people believe michael would be the most likely candidate, i did as well before, but now seeing how every character is actually brand new and not old souls brought back, i tend to believe that micheal is unlikely; i believe that freddy is edwin, who impossessed freddy after the events of the storyteller(before it freddy acted very differently from the game), and is now trying to protect gregory the way he couldn't protect david(they share a similar facial description); another proof for this is the fact that freddy seems to recognize the mimic saying "stop him" and gregory ephazising it directly after with "him?! what is that thing?"
i also believe the the mimic is chose vanessa and gregory as followers becouse they resemble elizabeth and crying child, and is trying to recreat the afton family as part of his mimicing

  • @bleachy1238

I really like the Mimic for many reasons, because it also kinda called all of us out. We were all focusing on, oh Afton is back and this and that and what about Gregory and the crying child and all that.
And I think this new story kinda slapped us around the face and told us to look at this story from different lens, which is very fun.
I am of the opinion now that the story of HW and SB is probably on the simpler side of things
The idea that those who fail to recognize their history are bound to repeat it. Fazbear Entertainment came back as a corporate entity when it shouldn't have.
It was greedy, wanting to spark a light of the past to try and establish glory and power. But with said power they also brought back the tragedy and agony of their past, their greed to get things done quick got them in a pickle way worse than they could have EVER imagined.
This is why I believe HW and ESPECIALLY SB are so subtle and yet oddly direct with their parallels. Gregory isnt the crying child, but I believe he is a modern parallel of him. Vannesa isnt Elizabeth, but shes a modern parallel of her.
Mimic isnt Afton but quite literally trying to copy and parallel him.
Fazbear knew their bloody past and yet they chose to ignore it in pursuit of something bigger and grander. And now the figures that have destroyed them once will destroy them again, albeit a different way, unless something is done about it.
I would even go as far as to say that the Mimic's plan is to bring back the past, to recreate it, to make it happen again. Maybe this is why the Ruin girl could be Susie and parallel her. Susie was the first victim of the MCI, and maybe Mimic is trying to copy even the order of events of the past.
That is if nothing stops it.
And Gregory is probably the first major wrench thrown at Mimic, and that to ennact its plan it is gonna be a lot harder than it thinks.
Essentially playing of off the idea of the Mimic trying to play off of the past, but the reality being that the NEW people arent gonna make the mistakes that those that came before them did.
Thats what I think anyway, could be wrong though.
We'll see where the story goes

After seeing this, I came up with a theory of my own, while I'm not sure on Burntrap being the Mimic, I did have a thought, in the Security Breach "Fire" ending, after Vanny is pushed off the roof, Vannessa looks down at the body, what if the Mimic is infected with Glitchtrap and the Mimic is Vanny, assuming that the Gregory is a robot theory is true, it would explain why your vision goes weird when near Vanny, it's the Mimic's EMP-like ability. If you're reading this, you're probably thinking that this is disproved by the "Save Vanny" ending, but if you remember properly, Vannessa ordered realistic human masks, and if Gregory is the same kid in GGY, that means he broke out of Afton's control. If Gregory can do that, who says Vannessa can't. This also explains why there's no blood splatter in the ending where Gregory tells the robots to disassemble Vanny.

This theory actually sets up the new timeline. Timeline one, Henry v Afton, ended with Pizzaria Sim. Timeline two, Gregory (so far) v Afton Fan Club, starts with Security Breach. This fixes the biggest issue people have with Security Breach's story, that if Burntrap WAS Afton, then Henry's sacrifice meant nothing. The Aftons and Emilys are all gone now, and new characters are taking the stage, letting the franchise move on.
It took a while, but is seems this new story has found something resembling a foothold

Now it's still possible for FNaF 6 to happen + UCN to still be ongoing and for SB to happen. I think this is a really good expansion on the "I always come back" Afton trope. • @--CHARLIE--

I love this version of events. The mimic is such a cool villain in this interpretation, its more obvious this way that the real William Afton is still in UCN (or Hell, if Cassidy or whoever leaves him to burn on his own like OMC suggested), it explains the tapes, it makes everything after fnaf 6 the companies fault for making a game based on such tragic events (wheras if Glitchtrap was William, the blatant disrespect to the dead displayed would not change his behaviour for the worse at all, which while fine, isn't as poetic or narratively satisfying to me), infact, it means no one who we thought was gone for good necessarily did actually come back, the idea of a creature that is corrupted by Aftons agony but has programming left over mimicking Charlie is a really cool concept, it explains Burntraps boss fight being so underwhelming, it fits with the themes of the franchise and it explains a bunch more stuff too. My only issue is that, if Henry made it, why didn't he put it in the fnaf 6 building with everything else just to be safe? Sure, he thought it was deactivated, and it wasn't haunted, but it seems like the safest option to me. Then again he likely didn't like thinking about it after what happened, and it had been 50 years since he broke it. Also perhaps, given it wasn't a threat that he was aware was still active in any capacity, that he last saw 50 years ago and avoided thinking about during that time, he had just forgotten about it? Idk.

Ngl, the entire idea behind the mimic is pretty neat and does line up so a theory I had during one of the streams:
    We know agony can infect inanimate objects and turn them living, to which I claimed it could be possible Afton DID die in the fnaf 3 fire and that scrap trap was springbonnie’s endoskeleton taking the identity of afton and putting on a classic ‘villian’ manner of speaking; but now that we have burntrap who somehow has flesh again, it could be possible that instead of afton outright coming back from a computer virus to organic person again;
(depending on what point in time the mimics could exist in the timeline) that a mimic could of witnessed post fnaf3 springtrap committing a murder and then not only replicating that behavior but also the appearance of springtrap, with a partially reconstructed exoskeleton and some random joe to fill in for afton’s corpse with glitchtrap/afton simply infecting and overriding the mimic of himself.
