- www.stvincent.edu | On Oct. 17, the Ann Kinzer Clark, M.D., Memorial Lecture Series and the Saint Vincent College Threshold Series welcomed Dr. Cornel West, professor of the practice of public philosophy at Harvard University and noted philosopher, social critic and author, to the Robert S. Carey Student Center’s Performing Arts Center, where he delivered a presentation entitled “The Arts as Prophetic Witness in Times of Suffering and Despair” to a capacity crowd.
West, who also holds the title of professor emeritus at Princeton University, was welcomed to the stage by longtime friend and Latrobe native Dr. Andrew G. Clark, director of choral activities and senior lecturer of music at Harvard University and the son of the late Dr. Ann Kinzer Clark, for whom the memorial lecture series was established.

Cool. Yes, Dr. West has many friends. I was just out of high school 3 years ago, so before that I knew nothing of him, and politics was in the back of my mind. I discovered him through an interest in philosophy, during an existential crisis. •́ ‿ ,•̀

Dr.West is a Warrior of Love and a Treasure for The World.
Anyone who has the temerity to speak with such passion and compassion about the integrity of the human experience is not only great-such a person is fundamentally good too. Each generation has its own crisis about what it means to be “huuuumaaan”, but for those of us in the relatively affluent West, it seems that the very things for which our forebears fought so valiantly are the same things distracting us from the most vital parts of the human experience. I thank Dr. West for helping reorient us toward a better path.

Lastly I would like to ask the school a question concerning their thoughts on the former Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Sellassie I who was the 225th or so descendant of King Solomon and what role does he play in your educational protocol if any?
