I've heard the story is based on the US movie from 2019. I haven't seen the movie myself, but people have been pointing this out in comments since the teasers yesterday so i figured it wouldn't hurt to pass on. Basically, they're being replaced. In the mirror on the ceiling, the shorts are blue instead of red, and the rack Yoohyeon is pushing has the "real" them's outfits on them, meaning the video starts with the replacements and shows how they were taken/replaced with doppelgangers.
usually the high notes are done by Siyeon and Yoohyeon! the “i like you” one was done by Siyeon but on the bridge the “ooh ahh” adlibs are done by Yoohyeon!! Yoohyeon is the lead vocalist but she has the skills of a main vocal!

The higher “I like you” in the 2nd half fits well with the progression of the lyrics/story of attraction turning to obsessive love. Right around that part it’s chaos of confessing love and taking it too far. I love it.
DC is rock based but they always add another dimension to their music - it could be electronic, metal, funk - you just never know. Dami's rap part for example has some drum n' bass element to it. The storyline in their mvs are also unique, not just because they can be hella creepy but because of the mystery and lore behind them. One thing I can say for sure is that DC comeback videos are never boring. Thanks for the DC content, guys. Pls keep them coming!

There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a Korean written character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that. The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here. She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "You turn blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. If you want to find a connection to the Dystopia trilogy, you could say that this might be a criticism of overly obsessive fans, who turn to malicious comments and other bad things, but I am not sure about that. In any case, Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
