No single group member has time to settle in his sub-conscious mind yet, he's not re-watching enough to get the subtle differences between the faces of the ladies. Everybody who has been InSomnia for a while eventually gets it but if you speed-run like this, your brain can't process fast enough for you to know who is who by face alone or by voice alone for 100% certainty. In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end. I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't really make it into the MV. "What" is still in my top 5 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me. "Piri" is the last part of the Nightmare Arc (their Japanese release "Breaking out" can be seen as an alternative ending). In "What", the girls have been searching for Yoohyeon, and here they find each other again, but in the end they are all stuck in the white dimension. A Piri is a Korean flute that was used historically to signal danger, and that is what Yoohyeon does here when the members arrive. She is the one capturing them one by one, to rescue them and bring them to safety. They are together in the end, but still stuck. Dreamcatcher don't do happy endings. 😉 In BEcause, Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. At first glance you could think OOTD is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. The album is called VersuS VillainS, which makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe it's about useless instagram fashion-influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion. The fact that fashion is moving ever faster makes it the most destructive industry to the planet only outdone by the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up. The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra (arch enemy backwards) account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback. It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well. The music is highly interesting as well. The Rock is dirty and distorted. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is funk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.
I think you like three members. Yoohyeon, Siyeon, and Sua. Yoohyeon the grey hair you point out in you and i, she is the lead vocalist. Siyeon is the blonde hair in piri, she almost sing all of chorus in many songs, siyeon is the main vocalist. She was stuck in the endless nightmare during You and I, What, and Piri MVs. She killed the spider in Fly high MV(by burn it under magnifier). That caused the curse of spider by spider queen( the old woman who took a photograph in You and I). The other members who lead by Jiu tried to save Yoohyeon. You can see Jiu( pronounced G U) executed most of the rituals to save Yoohyeon in all MVs. But remember! She caught the spider in the beginning…. The title with B+E (both in uppercase)+ cause is a combination of two words-“sadness” from the Hanja form (Chinese Characters used to write the korean language) of the character “bi” and the English word “cause”. The girl with gray hair in the "You & I" MV is Yoohyeon. The whole storyline ties back to the previous MVs (Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High). In "Fly High," Yoohyeon kills the spider Jiu caught, and that’s what kicks off the nightmare that traps them. Then, in "Chase Me," they’re basically baiting a paranormal investigator, and by "Good Night," they escape by sacrificing him. In "You & I," they’re trying to live normal lives again, but the spider terror comes back, and Yoohyeon gets possessed. That’s why you see them doing a exorcist, but it totally fails. The story picks up again in the "What" and "PIRI" MVs.

Haha yeah the fandom DEFINITELY was caught off guard by "OOTD". Unfortunately, the fandom was also split on it, as is usually the case when an artist tries something new. For me personally it was that perfect industrial rock/ hip-hop mix, and it became my new favorite title track until "Justice".

I also recently started my Dreamcatcher marathon, I advise you to first identify them visually through the mvs repeatedly and then voices through the videos with lyrics... It's the easiest if you don't always get confused🤣🤣🤣 I recommend justice in band live for identify them
just to share, if youre gonna watch any of the dance choreo for YOU AND I even the dance practice, watch out for the dami part, really pay attention in what she gonna do because you might miss it, its really quite impressive

In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end.
I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't really make it into the MV.
"What" is still in my top 5 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me.
"Piri" is the last part of the Nightmare Arc (their Japanese release "Breaking out" can be seen as an alternative ending). In "What", the girls have been searching for Yoohyeon, and here they find each other again, but in the end they are all stuck in the white dimension. A Piri is a Korean flute that was used historically to signal danger, and that is what Yoohyeon does here when the members arrive. She is the one capturing them one by one, to rescue them and bring them to safety. They are together in the end, but still stuck. Dreamcatcher don't do happy endings. 😉
In BEcause, Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done.
About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you".
The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again.
At first glance you could think OOTD is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. The album is called VersuS VillainS, which makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe it's about useless instagram fashion-influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion.
The fact that fashion is moving ever faster makes it the most destructive industry to the planet only outdone by the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up.
The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra (arch enemy backwards) account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback.
It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well.
The music is highly interesting as well. The Rock is dirty and distorted. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is funk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.

Then, in "Chase Me," they’re basically baiting a paranormal investigator, and by "Good Night," they escape by sacrificing him. In "You & I," they’re trying to live normal lives again, but the spider terror comes back, and Yoohyeon gets possessed. That’s why you see them doing a exorcist, but it totally fails. Most of the times I learn voices pretty quickly after putting faces to names. But that is one of the things that made it easy to learn NCT as members having different voices...sometimes similair but NCT is one of the groups when I recognize voices pretty much always just sometimes mess up
Example being when the members try something new with their voice...I confused Yutas voice with Jaemins...idk what he was doing with his voice in that song but yeah. It is so fun to guess a member by their voice. There is some voices that are 100% easier than others.
